Impermanence — anitya — is the ground truth of Kabir's view of the world. Sant Kabir Das saw that youth fades, wealth slips away, and even love, if it is love of the passing, must end, and he refused to let his followers forget it. His dohas on impermanence are not morbid but liberating: if nothing here lasts, why build a life on what will be taken?
Kabir's answer to impermanence is not despair but detachment. The dohas here teach the soul to love what is passing without clinging to it, to serve the world without being owned by it, and to anchor the heart in the one thing that does not change — the Divine.
Read these couplets to understand how the fact of impermanence, faced honestly, becomes the doorway to freedom in Kabir's teaching.
