Famous Kabir Dohe on Karma —

(A human reaps what they sow; our actions today determine our tomorrow.)

Karma — the law that every action returns to its doer — runs through all of Kabir's poetry. Sant Kabir Das taught that no one escapes the harvest of what they sow: kind deeds grow kindness, deceit grows distrust, and the world eventually hands back exactly what a person puts into it. His dohas on karma are among the most quoted of his verses.

Kabir's karma is not fatalism. He insisted that the future is shaped in the present — that a person is not a prisoner of his past but a farmer of his next season. What matters is not the destiny one is born with but the actions one chooses today, done without greed and without attachment to the result.

Read these couplets to understand Kabir's practical, empowering vision of action and consequence.
