बिना किसी दिखावे के, हृदय से ईश्वर के प्रति प्रेम और समर्पण ही सच्ची भक्ति है। (True devotion is the love and surrender to God from the heart, without any outward show.)

Bhakti — wholehearted love of God — is the soul of Kabir's message. For Sant Kabir Das, devotion is not found in fasting, pilgrimage, or loud ritual; it is found in a heart that loves God as a child loves its mother. His dohas on bhakti strip away every outward form of worship and reduce religion to a single requirement: love.

Kabir sings of a devotion that is inward, constant, and free from show. The devotee, he says, should feel God's presence in every breath and see the Divine in every living being. Whatever work a person does, it becomes worship when it is done with love and without expectation.

These couplets are among the most loved of Kabir's verses. Read them to understand the saint's vision of devotion as a lived relationship with God rather than a set of ceremonies.
