निष्कामता (Pure Intent) — Kabir Dohas

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि मैं अपने व्यक्तिगत शारीरिक सुखों, भौतिक आवश्यकताओं या सांसारिक लाभ के लिए किसी के सामने हाथ नहीं फैलाता। लेकिन जब बात परमार्थ की आती है—अर्थात आत्मा के कल्याण और सत्य की खोज की—तो मैं संकोच या सामाजिक शर्म को त्याग कर सत्य के लिए समर्पित होने को तैयार हूँ।

Meaning: Kabir declares that he does not beg or seek help from others for his own physical needs or worldly comforts. However, when it comes to 'Parmarth'—the pursuit of the Supreme Truth and the spiritual liberation of the soul—he feels no shame or hesitation in seeking guidance or surrendering to the divine truth.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि मनुष्य द्वारा किए गए सत्कर्म कभी व्यर्थ नहीं जाते। भले ही सात समुद्रों जैसी कठिन बाधाएं मार्ग में आ जाएं, लेकिन अंततः व्यक्ति को अपने नेक कार्यों का फल अवश्य मिलता है, जो उसके जीवन के मार्ग को प्रशस्त करता है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that the righteous actions performed by an individual never go in vain. Even if obstacles as vast as seven seas stand in the way, the merit earned through sincere deeds will eventually manifest, guiding the soul toward its ultimate destination.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि बिना किसी प्रयास या उचित उपाय के ईश्वर कभी कुछ प्रदान नहीं करते। जिस प्रकार एक किसान यदि अपने खेत में बीज नहीं बोता, तो वह फसल की उम्मीद नहीं कर सकता, उसी प्रकार बिना कर्म के आध्यात्मिक या भौतिक फल की प्राप्ति असंभव है। यह दोहा निष्क्रियता का खंडन करता है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that the Divine never grants rewards to those who remain passive and devoid of effort. Just as a farmer cannot expect a harvest without first sowing seeds in the field, one cannot attain spiritual or material fruition without conscious action. अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि इस सृष्टि के रचयिता (परमात्मा) के अतिरिक्त मेरा कोई वास्तविक हितैषी नहीं है। संसार के सभी रिश्ते और संबंध स्वार्थ की डोर से बंधे होते हैं; वे व्यक्ति के गुणों या दोषों को नहीं देखते, बल्कि केवल अपनी जरूरतों और लाभ को देखते हैं। केवल ईश्वर ही है जो बिना किसी स्वार्थ के प्रेम करता है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that apart from the Creator (the Divine), there is no true well-wisher for the soul. All worldly relationships are tethered by the threads of selfishness; they do not perceive the intrinsic virtues or flaws of a person, but rather focus on their own utility and gain. अर्थ: यह दोहा उस गहन और अडिग आध्यात्मिक प्रेम की बात करता है जहाँ साधक सत्य की खोज में इतना मग्न है कि वह कष्टों की परवाह नहीं करता। जैसे चकोर पक्षी चंद्रमा के प्रति अपने प्रेम में इतना पागल है कि वह जलते हुए अंगारों को भी चबा लेता है, वैसे ही एक सच्चा प्रेमी ईश्वर के विरह और मार्ग की कठिनाइयों को सहते हुए भी अपना मार्ग नहीं छोड़ता।

Meaning: This couplet speaks of an intense and unwavering spiritual love where the seeker is so absorbed in the pursuit of Truth that they become indifferent to suffering. Just as the mythical Chakora bird, in its obsessive love for the moon, would chew upon burning embers, a true devotee endures the agony of separation and the hardships of the path without ever abandoning their divine quest.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि मैं अपने इस भौतिक शरीर को जलाकर उसकी स्याही बना लूँ और अपनी हड्डियों की कलम से ईश्वर (राम) का नाम लिखूँ। यह इस बात का प्रतीक है कि जब तक संपूर्ण अहंकार और शारीरिक आसक्ति पूरी तरह नष्ट नहीं हो जाती, तब तक परमात्मा का वास्तविक साक्षात्कार संभव नहीं है।

Meaning: Kabir declares his intent to burn his physical body to create ink and use his own bones as a pen to write the name of the Divine (Ram). This is a powerful metaphor signifying that only through the total annihilation of the ego and the complete surrender of the physical self can one truly communicate with or reach the Ultimate Truth.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि मेरा प्रेम केवल तुम्हारे लिए है, हे मेरे स्वामी! दुनिया में कई गुणवान और विद्वान लोग हो सकते हैं, लेकिन मेरी निष्ठा केवल तुझसे है। यदि मैं किसी और से मुस्कुराकर बात करूँ, तो तुम मेरे दाँतों को नीले रंग से रंग देना, ताकि मेरी बेवफाई दुनिया के सामने प्रकट हो जाए।

Meaning: Kabir declares that his love is reserved solely for the Divine Beloved. While there may be many virtuous or learned individuals in the world, his devotion is singular. He asserts that if he should ever smile or converse with another in a way that betrays this sacred bond, may his teeth be dyed blue as a mark of his infidelity.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि मेरे भीतर ऐसा कुछ भी नहीं है जिसे मैं वास्तव में 'मेरा' कह सकूँ। जो कुछ भी इस अस्तित्व में है, वह सब ईश्वर का ही है। जब मैं तेरी ही दी हुई वस्तुओं को तुझे वापस सौंपता हूँ, तो इसमें मेरा क्या नुकसान है या मुझे क्या खोना है?

Meaning: Kabir declares that there is nothing within him that can truly be claimed as 'mine'. Everything that exists in his being and surroundings belongs to the Divine. He asks rhetorically, if he is simply returning what already belongs to the Creator, what loss could he possibly incur or what attachment remains to be severed?

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि जब तक भक्ति किसी सांसारिक इच्छा या फल की लालसा से प्रेरित होती है, तब तक वह साधना निष्फल रहती है। ईश्वर या आत्म-तत्व केवल उन्हें प्राप्त होता है जो पूरी तरह से कामना-रहित (निष्काम) हो जाते हैं, क्योंकि परमात्मा स्वयं इच्छाओं से परे है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that as long as devotion is driven by desire or the expectation of a reward, the spiritual practice remains fruitless. The Divine or the True Self is only attainable to those who have become completely desireless, for the Ultimate Reality exists beyond the realm of wanting.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि मैं उस सर्वशक्तिमान परमात्मा का सेवक हूँ, जिसके आश्रय में होने पर कोई कार्य अधूरा नहीं रहता और न ही कोई अभाव रहता है। यदि वह परमात्मा किसी भक्त को सांसारिक रूप से निर्धन या वस्त्रहीन भी रखे, तो भी उस भक्त की गरिमा और सम्मान उस परमात्मा की कृपा के कारण पारस पत्थर की तरह मूल्यवान और उज्ज्वल बना रहता है।

Meaning: Kabir declares his absolute surrender to the Omnipotent Divine, asserting that under the shelter of the Almighty, no endeavor remains fruitless and no need goes unmet. He suggests that even if a devotee appears destitute or stripped of worldly possessions, the grace of the Divine transforms their existence into something as precious and luminous as the mythical philosopher's stone, ensuring their spiritual dignity remains intact.
