निष्कामता (Pure Intent) — Kabir Dohas

अर्थ: कबीर दास जी कहते हैं कि मैंने स्वयं कुछ नहीं किया और न ही मैं कुछ करने में सक्षम था, क्योंकि यह शरीर कर्म करने के योग्य या अहंकारपूर्ण कर्ता बनने के लिए नहीं था। जो कुछ भी घटित हुआ या जो भी कार्य संपन्न हुए, वे सब उस परमात्मा (हरि) की इच्छा और कृपा से हुए। जब यह बोध हुआ कि मैं केवल एक माध्यम हूँ, तब मैं वास्तव में 'कबीर' (महान) बन सका।

Meaning: Kabir declares that he has neither performed any action nor possessed the inherent capacity to do so, for the physical body is not the true author of spiritual liberation. Whatever was accomplished was solely the work of the Divine (Hari). Only upon realizing his own insignificance and the absolute sovereignty of the Divine did he attain the state of 'Kabir'—becoming truly great through the annihilation of the self.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि मनुष्य के अपने प्रयासों या कर्मों से आध्यात्मिक सिद्धि प्राप्त नहीं होती, बल्कि वह सब होता है जो ईश्वर की इच्छा से अनपेक्षित रूप से घटित होता है। वे प्रभु की दरगाह में प्रार्थना करते हैं कि उन्हें उस ईश्वरीय नाम और कृपा से वंचित न रखा जाए, क्योंकि केवल वही परम सत्य है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that human effort and calculated actions alone do not lead to spiritual liberation; rather, everything unfolds according to the Divine Will, often in ways unforeseen. He prays at the threshold of the Almighty, pleading that he may not be deprived of the Divine Name, for only that grace is the ultimate reality.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि यदि आप भौतिक रूप से ईश्वर या गुरु के समीप आ गए हैं, तो उसका कोई लाभ नहीं है। वास्तविक निकटता तब होती है जब आप अपने अहंकार का त्याग कर दें। जब तक व्यक्ति अपने 'सिर' यानी अपने अहंकार और अस्तित्व के मोह को पूरी तरह समर्पित नहीं करता, तब तक आध्यात्मिक लक्ष्य की प्राप्ति या किसी भी कार्य की वास्तविक सिद्धि संभव नहीं है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that mere physical proximity to the Divine or a spiritual guide is meaningless. True closeness is not measured by distance but by the surrender of the ego. Until one is willing to 'offer their head'—symbolizing the complete annihilation of the prideful self and the attachment to individual identity—no spiritual endeavor can reach its ultimate fruition or success.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि जिस प्रकार एक सती स्त्री अग्नि की लपटों में कूदकर भी विचलित नहीं होती क्योंकि उसका मन केवल अपने प्रियतम पर केंद्रित है, उसी प्रकार जब साधक अपने तन और मन को पूर्णतः ईश्वर (पीव) को समर्पित कर देता है, तब उसके और परमात्मा के बीच कोई भेद या रेखा शेष नहीं रह जाती।

Meaning: Kabir explains that just as a devoted wife (Sati) passes through fire without wavering because her mind is fixed solely on her beloved, similarly, when a seeker surrenders their entire physical and mental existence to the Divine Beloved, the boundary or separation between the individual soul and the Supreme Truth vanishes completely.

अर्थ: इस संसार में हर व्यक्ति केवल अपने स्वार्थ और व्यक्तिगत लाभ की खोज में लगा हुआ है। यहाँ तक कि जो स्वयं को भक्त या दास कहते हैं, वे भी अंततः अपनी इच्छाओं की पूर्ति चाहते हैं। लेकिन कबीर कहते हैं कि वास्तविक राम-भक्ति वही है जहाँ मनुष्य ने अपने शरीर और भौतिक अस्तित्व के प्रति सारी आसक्ति और मोह पूरी तरह त्याग दिया हो।

Meaning: In this worldly existence, every individual is driven by self-interest and the pursuit of personal gain. Even those who claim to be devotees or servants of the Divine often harbor hidden desires for reward. Kabir asserts that true communion with the Divine (Ram) occurs only when one completely relinquishes all attachment and hope for the physical body and material existence.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि परमात्मा का प्रेम एक ऐसी दिव्य औषधि या रस है, जिसे चखने के बाद संसार के सभी सुख फीके पड़ जाते हैं। यह प्रेम रस अत्यंत आनंददायक है, परंतु इसे पाना सरल नहीं है; इसे प्राप्त करने के लिए साधक को अपने अहंकार का पूर्ण त्याग करना पड़ता है, ठीक वैसे ही जैसे कोई अपना शीश अर्पित कर दे।

Meaning: Kabir proclaims that the love of the Divine is a celestial elixir, a spiritual essence so potent that once tasted, all worldly pleasures pale in comparison. This nectar of love is the ultimate bliss, yet it is exceedingly rare to attain. To drink from this cup, the seeker must be prepared to surrender their entire ego, symbolized by the offering of one's own head.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि शराब बनाने वाले (कलाल) की भट्टी के पास बहुत से लोग इकट्ठा हुए हैं। लेकिन यहाँ एक कठोर शर्त है: केवल वही व्यक्ति उस दिव्य रस या ज्ञान का पान कर सकता है जो अपना सिर (अहंकार) समर्पित करने को तैयार है। बिना अहंकार के विसर्जन के, इस सत्य को प्राप्त करना असंभव है।

Meaning: Kabir describes a crowd gathered around the vintner's vat, longing for the intoxicating brew. However, he reveals a spiritual paradox: only those willing to surrender their 'head'—a metaphor for the ego and intellectual pride—are permitted to drink. Without the total annihilation of the self, the divine nectar remains unattainable.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि सच्चा भक्त वह है जो ईश्वर की भक्ति में इतना लीन हो जाए कि उसे बाहरी दुनिया का कोई होश न रहे। जैसे एक हिरण संगीत के मोह में अपनी सुध-बुध खो देता है और शिकारी की आवाज़ को भी मधुर संगीत समझकर उसकी ओर खिंचा चला जाता है, वैसे ही भक्त अपना तन और मन पूरी तरह परमात्मा को समर्पित कर देता है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that a true devotee is one who becomes so utterly absorbed in the divine melody of Ram that the external world ceases to exist. Just as a deer, enchanted by a haunting melody, loses all awareness of danger and wanders toward the hunter, a seeker surrenders their entire physical and mental existence to the Divine, oblivious to the perils of the material world.

अर्थ: कबीर दास जी कहते हैं कि इस संसार में अधिकांश लोग केवल अपने स्वार्थ के कारण दूसरों से संबंध जोड़ते हैं और उन्हीं को अपना सगा-संबंधी मानते हैं। लेकिन जो व्यक्ति बिना किसी निजी लाभ या स्वार्थ के दूसरों का सम्मान करता है और प्रेम देता है, वही वास्तव में ईश्वर की सच्ची भक्ति और प्रेम को पहचान चुका है।

Meaning: Kabir explains that in this world, most people form bonds and recognize kinship only based on mutual selfishness or personal gain. However, the individual who offers respect and kindness to others without any expectation of reward or ulterior motive is the one who has truly realized and embodied the divine love of Hari.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि सच्ची भक्ति उस अत्यंत शुद्ध और कीमती वस्त्र की तरह है जिसमें कोई भी मैल या अशुद्धि नहीं टिक सकती। यदि कोई व्यक्ति बाहरी दिखावे के लिए गंदी या काली चटाई (कांवली) बिछाता है, तो वह उस आंतरिक पवित्रता को प्राप्त नहीं कर सकता जो केवल निश्छल प्रेम और समर्पण से आती है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that true devotion is like a priceless, pristine cloth that cannot harbor any stain of impurity. If one relies on external rituals or spreads a soiled mat of hypocrisy, they cannot attain that inner purity which is accessible only through selfless love and absolute surrender to the Divine.
