निष्कामता (Pure Intent) — Kabir Dohas

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि यदि आप परमात्मा से दूर हैं तो इसमें कोई बड़ी बात नहीं है, क्योंकि वास्तविक निकटता केवल अहंकार के विसर्जन से ही संभव है। जब तक मनुष्य अपने 'शिर' यानी अपने अहंकार और झूठी पहचान को समर्पित नहीं करता, तब तक उसके जीवन का कोई भी आध्यात्मिक कार्य सिद्ध नहीं हो सकता।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that being distant from the Divine is a common state, but true proximity is only achieved through the surrender of the ego. Until a person is willing to offer their 'head'—symbolizing the prideful intellect and the false sense of self—no spiritual endeavor or life's purpose can reach its ultimate fruition.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि जब कोई व्यक्ति पूर्णतः समर्पित हो जाता है, तो उसकी बाहरी पहचान समाप्त हो जाती है। जिस प्रकार एक सच्चा योद्धा अपना सिर (अहंकार) त्याग देता है, एक सच्चा दानवीर अपने धन का मोह छोड़ देता है, और एक समर्पित प्रेमी अपने शारीरिक अस्तित्व को भूल जाता है, वैसे ही साधक की चेतना केवल परमात्मा (प्रियतम) में विलीन हो जाती है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that true spiritual attainment requires the complete dissolution of the individual identity. Just as a true warrior surrenders his head (ego), a genuine philanthropist relinquishes attachment to wealth, and a devoted spouse transcends physical bodily consciousness, the seeker's awareness must merge entirely into the Divine Beloved, leaving no trace of the separate self.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि केवल प्रेम और स्नेह के माध्यम से ही ईश्वर या सत्य की प्राप्ति संभव है; केवल बौद्धिक चिंतन या तर्क से यह नहीं मिल सकता। आप अपना शरीर, मन और यहाँ तक कि अपना शीश (अहंकार) समर्पित कर सकते हैं, लेकिन यदि हृदय में सच्चा प्रेम नहीं है, तो वह समर्पण व्यर्थ है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that only through the cultivation of selfless love and devotion can one attain the Divine or ultimate Truth; intellectual reasoning and mere contemplation are insufficient. One may offer their body, their mind, and even their head in sacrifice, but if the essence of true love is missing, such offerings remain devoid of spiritual value.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि यदि मैं इस आध्यात्मिक संघर्ष में हार जाता हूँ, तो यह हरि (ईश्वर) की इच्छा और उनकी महिमा है। यदि मैं जीत जाता हूँ, तो वह केवल एक सांसारिक दांव या अहंकार की जीत है। जब खेल स्वयं पारब्रह्म के साथ हो, तो यदि इस मार्ग में मेरा सिर (अहंकार) भी चला जाए, तो मुझे उसकी कोई चिंता नहीं है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that if he loses in this spiritual struggle, it is the will and glory of Hari (the Divine). If he wins, it is merely a worldly gamble or a victory of the ego. When playing a game with the Supreme Brahman, if one's head (symbolizing the ego and identity) is lost in the process, let it be gone without regret.

अर्थ: यह दोहा प्रेम और समर्पण की पराकाष्ठा को दर्शाता है। कबीर कहते हैं कि जिसे हम वास्तव में प्रेम करते हैं और जिसके प्रति हमारा भाव सच्चा है, वह हमें अवश्य प्राप्त होगा। जब कोई व्यक्ति अपने तन और मन को पूरी तरह से परमात्मा या अपने प्रिय को सौंप देता है, तो वह अटूट संबंध कभी समाप्त नहीं होता और वह विरह की पीड़ा से मुक्त होकर शाश्वत मिलन को प्राप्त करता है।

Meaning: This couplet illustrates the pinnacle of love and surrender. Kabir asserts that the one for whom we harbor true, heartfelt devotion will inevitably be attained. When a seeker completely surrenders both body and mind to the Divine or the Beloved, that bond becomes indissoluble, ensuring that the union, once achieved, can never be severed or lost.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि जो व्यक्ति किसी सांसारिक इच्छा या फल की कामना के साथ ईश्वर का स्मरण करता है, उसे एक श्रेष्ठ स्थान या स्वर्ग जैसा सुख प्राप्त होता है। परंतु, जो व्यक्ति पूरी तरह निष्काम होकर, बिना किसी व्यक्तिगत लाभ की इच्छा के सुमिरन करता है, वह अविनाशी और शाश्वत परमात्मा (राम) को प्राप्त कर लेता है।

Meaning: Kabir explains that one who remembers the Divine with a desire for specific rewards or worldly gains attains a superior realm or heavenly pleasure. However, the one who practices remembrance without any desire, devoid of all selfish expectations, attains the Eternal and Unchanging Divine Reality, the timeless Ram.
