अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि यह संसार वास्तव में कुछ भी स्थायी नहीं है; यह क्षणिक है और स्वाद में कभी खारा तो कभी मीठा महसूस होता है। जो व्यक्ति कल तक अहंकार और वैभव के भंडार में बैठा था, आज उसे नष्ट होते हुए देखा जा रहा है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that this world is an illusion with no permanent substance, fluctuating like taste between saltiness and sweetness. He observes that the one who sat proudly amidst vast treasures and ego yesterday is seen today reduced to ashes or oblivion.

अर्थ: इस दोहे में कबीर एक रूपक का उपयोग करते हैं जहाँ लकड़ी लोहार से कहती है कि वह उसे न जलाए। लकड़ी चेतावनी देती है कि समय का चक्र ऐसा घूमेगा कि एक दिन वही लकड़ी (ईंधन के रूप में) लोहार को जला देगी, अर्थात मृत्यु और समय की अटल सच्चाई सबको समान रूप से भस्म कर देती है।

Meaning: Kabir asks what grounds a human has for pride given their inherent mortality. Time (Kaal) warns that death is unpredictable and indiscriminate; it can strike anywhere and at any moment, abruptly transporting the soul away from this earthly realm.

Meaning: Kabir asserts that when a person remains clung to the attachment of the physical body and material identity, true respect, the genuine compassion of the eyes, and the selfless love of the soul vanish. As long as we perceive ourselves merely as this perishable body, we lose the authentic spiritual values of existence.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि यदि किसी व्यक्ति के भीतर अहंकार और भेदभाव का बीज गहराई से जड़ पकड़ चुका है, तो अनंत काल बीत जाने पर भी वह नहीं बदलता। जब तक मनुष्य ऊँच-नीच और सामाजिक श्रेष्ठता के भ्रम में रहता है, तब तक उसकी वास्तविक संतता या आध्यात्मिक यात्रा का अंत हो जाता है, अर्थात वह कभी पूर्णता को प्राप्त नहीं कर पाता।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that if the seed of ego and discrimination is deeply embedded within a person, it remains unchanged even as infinite ages pass. As long as one clings to the delusions of high and low status or social hierarchy, the true essence of a saint—the spiritual culmination—remains unattainable, effectively ending the journey toward liberation.

He warns that the festive noise of worldly existence is temporary; when the final moment of departure arrives, no earthly instrument or ritual can delay the inevitable journey toward the Ultimate Truth.

अर्थ: ईश्वर की दिव्य ध्वनि और आध्यात्मिक सत्य हर व्यक्ति के भीतर और सृष्टि के कण-कण में गूँज रहा है। परंतु मनुष्य बाहरी कर्मकांडों और भौतिक मंदिरों में उसे खोजने की व्यर्थ कोशिश करता है, जिससे उसका अपना आंतरिक मंदिर उपेक्षित हो जाता है और अज्ञानता के कौवे वहाँ डेरा डाल लेते हैं।

Meaning: The divine sound and spiritual truth resonate within every individual and every atom of creation. However, humans waste their efforts searching for it in external rituals and physical temples, leaving their own inner temple neglected and desolate, where the crows of ignorance and ego come to perch.
