कबीर के दोहे (Kabir's Couplets)

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि चाहे व्यक्ति के पास कितनी भी आंतरिक क्षमता, बुद्धि या दैवीय कृपा क्यों न हो, बिना कठिन परिश्रम और प्रयास के उसे दुख और अभाव ही प्राप्त होंगे। जिस प्रकार भोजन बिल्कुल सामने रखा हो, लेकिन यदि व्यक्ति उसे हाथ से उठाकर मुँह तक न ले जाए, तो वह भूख से तड़पता रहेगा, वैसे ही बिना कर्म के लक्ष्य की प्राप्ति असंभव है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that regardless of one's innate talent, intellectual capacity, or divine grace, suffering and deprivation are inevitable without conscious effort and hard work. Just as food placed right before a person remains useless if they do not use their hand to lift it to their mouth, spiritual or material goals remain unattainable without the catalyst of action.

अर्थ: कबीर दास जी कहते हैं कि जीवन में सब कुछ कठिन परिश्रम और धैर्य के मेल से ही संभव होता है। जिस प्रकार एक शुष्क भूमि पर गहरा कुआँ खोदने के कठिन श्रम के बाद ही जल प्रकट होता है, उसी प्रकार आध्यात्मिक और भौतिक सफलता केवल निरंतर प्रयास और मानसिक स्थिरता से प्राप्त होती है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that all achievements in life are the result of diligent effort coupled with unwavering patience. Just as water emerges from a parched land only after the arduous labor of digging a deep well, spiritual and material fulfillment manifests only through persistent striving and a steady, composed mind.

अर्थ: कबीर दास जी कहते हैं कि जब आपका जन्म हुआ, तब दुनिया खुश थी और आप रो रहे थे। जीवन का लक्ष्य ऐसा होना चाहिए कि जब आप इस संसार को छोड़कर जाएँ, तो लोग आपकी विदाई पर दुखी हों और आपकी नेकदिली को याद करें, न कि आपकी मूर्खताओं या बुरे कर्मों पर हँसें।

Meaning: Kabir observes the irony of birth: when you entered this world, others laughed with joy while you cried. He urges us to live such a virtuous life that upon our departure, the world mourns our loss with respect rather than mocking the legacy of our foolishness or cruelty.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि यह मानव शरीर एक खेत के समान है और मन उस खेत का किसान है। इस जीवन में हम पाप और पुण्य के दो प्रकार के बीज बोते हैं। अंततः मनुष्य को अपने द्वारा बोए गए कर्मों का फल स्वयं ही भोगना पड़ता है, जिससे आत्मा को कष्ट या आनंद मिलता है।

Meaning: Kabir posits that the human body is like a field and the mind is the farmer tending to it. In this existence, we sow two types of seeds: sin and virtue. Ultimately, every individual must reap the harvest of their own actions, leading the soul to experience either agony or liberation based on these karmic seeds.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि मैं अपने कर्मों के अहंकार और बाहरी दिखावे को जलाकर राख कर देना चाहता हूँ। लोभ और बड़प्पन के मोह को त्यागकर, मैं केवल अपने गुरु के बताए हुए आध्यात्मिक मार्ग और उनके प्रेमपूर्ण संगीत (राग) में लीन होना चाहता हूँ।

Meaning: Kabir expresses a desire to incinerate the pride associated with his worldly actions and social standing. By abandoning the cravings for greed and prestige, he seeks to immerse himself entirely in the spiritual resonance and divine guidance provided by the Guru.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि मनुष्य सांसारिक मोह-माया और बाहरी आडंबरों के जाल में इस कदर फंसा हुआ है जैसे लोहे की कीलें एक-दूसरे में गड़ी हों। इस झूठे मोह के कारण अनगिनत लोग जीवन भर संघर्ष करते रहे और मृत्यु को प्राप्त हो गए, लेकिन यह अज्ञानता का गहरा जंगल और वासनाओं का जाल कभी समाप्त नहीं होता।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that humanity is trapped in an endless cycle of worldly attachments and superficial rituals, akin to iron nails driven deep into a structure. Driven by delusional desire, countless souls have spent their entire lives struggling and eventually perished, yet the dense forest of ignorance and the web of cravings remain stubbornly intact and unyielding.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि हम अपनी परिस्थितियों को समय, भाग्य, कर्म या नियति जैसे विभिन्न नामों से पुकारते हैं। वास्तव में, इन सबके पीछे केवल एक ही शक्ति कार्य करती है, और वह है हमारा अपना मन, जो हमारे अनुभवों और वास्तविकता का वास्तविक निर्माता है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that whether we attribute our life circumstances to time, destiny, fate, or predestination, these are merely different labels for the same phenomenon. The ultimate architect of our perceived reality and the source of our suffering or joy is the human mind itself.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि मनुष्य दुख को आमंत्रित नहीं करता, फिर भी वह अचानक और अनपेक्षित रूप से आ जाता है। जब व्यक्ति सुख के मोह में अंधा होकर उसका पहरा लगाने लगता है, तब वह यह भूल जाता है कि सुख क्षणभंगुर है और दुख का आगमन निश्चित है, जो अंततः सुख को विदा कर देता है।

Meaning: Kabir observes that while a human never consciously seeks out suffering, it arrives unbidden and unexpectedly. When one becomes obsessed with guarding and clinging to fleeting pleasure, they fail to realize that such attachment is an illusion, and sorrow will inevitably march in to displace the temporary joy.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि वास्तव में आपका कोई बाहरी शत्रु नहीं है; आपका असली शत्रु आपका अपना अहंकार (फैल) है। यदि आप इस अहंकार और मानसिक भ्रम को मिटा दें, तो आप जीवन के हर मार्ग पर एक मुक्त और आनंदित यात्री की तरह विचरण कर सकेंगे।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that you have no external enemies; your only true adversary is your own ego (phail). By eradicating this internal pride and illusion, you can navigate through every lane of existence with the lightness and freedom of a liberated soul.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि मनुष्य द्वारा किए गए सत्कर्म कभी व्यर्थ नहीं जाते। भले ही सात समुद्रों जैसी कठिन बाधाएं मार्ग में आ जाएं, लेकिन अंततः व्यक्ति को अपने नेक कार्यों का फल अवश्य मिलता है, जो उसके जीवन के मार्ग को प्रशस्त करता है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that the righteous actions performed by an individual never go in vain. Even if obstacles as vast as seven seas stand in the way, the merit earned through sincere deeds will eventually manifest, guiding the soul toward its ultimate destination.
