अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि मैं इस भौतिक शरीर को एक दीपक बना लूँ और अपनी आत्मा को उसकी बाती बना दूँ। मैं अपने रक्त और जीवन-शक्ति को ईंधन के रूप में जलाकर उस परम तेज को प्राप्त करना चाहता हूँ, ताकि अंततः मैं अपने प्रिय परमात्मा के दर्शन कर सकूँ।

Meaning: Kabir expresses a profound longing to transform his physical body into a lamp and his soul into the wick. अर्थ: यह दोहा आत्मा की उस तीव्र अवस्था का वर्णन करता है जहाँ साधक सांसारिक मोह और भौतिक सुखों के ऊँचे सिंहासनों को त्यागकर पूर्ण समर्पण की स्थिति में पहुँच जाता है। यहाँ मीरा के माध्यम से यह बताया गया है कि जब ईश्वर के प्रति प्रेम चरम पर होता है, तब व्यक्ति दुनिया के हर सहारे को छोड़ देता है और केवल परमात्मा की कृपा की कामना करता है, क्योंकि अब उसे किसी अन्य सांसारिक साथी की आवश्यकता नहीं रह जाती।

Meaning: This couplet describes the intense state of the soul where the seeker transcends the high pedestals of worldly attachments and material pleasures to reach a state of total surrender. अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि नरक का भय मेरे लिए वैसा ही है जैसे शरीर पर पहना हुआ एक वस्त्र, जिससे मुझे कोई डर नहीं लगता। मुझे स्वर्ग की लालसा भी नहीं है; मेरी एकमात्र अभिलाषा और गंतव्य केवल तुम (परमात्मा) हो, क्योंकि तुम्हारे मिलन के सामने स्वर्ग और नरक दोनों अर्थहीन हैं।

Meaning: Kabir declares that the fear of hell is as insignificant to him as a garment worn upon the body; it holds no power over him. Similarly, he expresses no desire for the pleasures of heaven. अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि जिस प्रकार मेरा मन पूरी तरह से ईश्वर में लीन है, यदि तुम्हारा मन भी उसी प्रकार ईश्वर का हो जाए, तो हम दोनों का मिलन वैसा ही होगा जैसे तपते हुए लोहे का दूसरे तपते हुए लोहे से मिलन, जहाँ उनके बीच का अंतर पूरी तरह समाप्त हो जाता है और कोई यह नहीं बता सकता कि एक टुकड़ा कहाँ समाप्त हुआ और दूसरा कहाँ शुरू हुआ।
