प्रपत्ति (Surrender) — Kabir Dohas

अर्थ: कबीर दास जी ईश्वर से प्रार्थना करते हुए कहते हैं कि हे प्रभु, मैं आपके प्रेम और भक्ति के भोजन में पूरी तरह लीन हूँ। यदि आपने मुझे अपनी कृपा की भुजाओं से मजबूती से नहीं पकड़ा, तो मैं इस संसार की माया और सांसारिक प्रलोभनों की धारा में बह जाऊँगा।

Meaning: Kabir appeals to the Divine, stating that he is immersed in the spiritual nourishment of God's love. He warns that unless the Divine holds him firmly by the arm with grace, he will inevitably be swept away by the turbulent currents of worldly illusion and ego.

अर्थ: कबीर दास जी कहते हैं कि यदि कोई व्यक्ति केवल मानसिक रूप से समर्पण का दिखावा करता है या केवल सिर नवाता है, तो वह पर्याप्त नहीं है। सच्ची आध्यात्मिक प्रगति के लिए अपने संपूर्ण अस्तित्व और प्राणों का समर्पण आवश्यक है। बिना गुरु के निस्वार्थ प्रेम और मार्गदर्शन के, इस संसार में कहीं भी वास्तविक शांति, कल्याण या आध्यात्मिक सुरक्षा प्राप्त नहीं की जा सकती।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that mere mental gestures of submission or the superficial act of bowing one's head are insufficient. True spiritual evolution demands the total surrender of one's entire existence and life force. Without the selfless love and guidance of a Satguru, one cannot find genuine peace, well-being, or spiritual sanctuary anywhere in this transient world.

अर्थ: यदि गुरु पूर्ण और आत्म-साक्षात्कारी हो, तो शिष्य को अपना सर्वस्व, यहाँ तक कि अपना अहंकार और मस्तक भी समर्पित कर देना चाहिए। गुरु के प्रति यह समर्पण वैसा ही होना चाहिए जैसा एक पिता का पुत्र के प्रति होता है, परंतु वास्तव में एक योग्य शिष्य पुत्र से भी अधिक श्रेष्ठ होता है क्योंकि वह आध्यात्मिक उत्तराधिकार को प्राप्त करता है।

Meaning: If a teacher is truly enlightened and complete, the disciple should be prepared to surrender everything, including their ego and very identity. This bond of devotion should be viewed with the tenderness of a father for a son, yet the disciple is considered superior to a biological son because the disciple carries forward the eternal light of truth rather than mere worldly lineage.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि आध्यात्मिक ज्ञान और मोक्ष का संपूर्ण खजाना गुरु के पास उपलब्ध है, परंतु साधक उसे केवल अपने प्रारब्ध और पात्रता के अनुसार ही प्राप्त कर सकता है। यदि मन पूर्णतः समर्पित सेवक बनकर गुरु के चरणों में विलीन हो जाए, तो वह परम सत्य को पा लेता है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that the entirety of spiritual wisdom and liberation resides with the Guru, yet a seeker attains it only according to their own destiny and spiritual readiness. If the mind remains a devoted servant, fully surrendered at the Guru's feet, it eventually merges with the Ultimate Truth.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि उन्होंने सुना है कि प्रेम का व्यापार एक ऐसे बाजार में होता है जहाँ उसकी कीमत आपका अहंकार (सिर) है। इस सत्य को जानने में अब और विलंब न करें, अन्यथा समय बीत जाएगा और आप इस अनमोल अवसर को खो देंगे।

Meaning: Kabir proclaims that he has heard of a marketplace where Divine Love is traded, but the price of admission is the surrender of one's own ego (represented by the head). He urges the seeker not to hesitate or delay in this pursuit, for the window of opportunity is fleeting and may soon close forever.

अर्थ: यह दोहा प्रेम के उस सर्वोच्च आध्यात्मिक स्तर का वर्णन करता है जहाँ केवल पूर्ण समर्पण संभव है। कबीर कहते हैं कि ईश्वर या प्रेम का घर अत्यंत ऊँचा और एकांत में है; वहाँ केवल वही प्रवेश कर सकता है जिसने अपने अहंकार (सिर) का पूरी तरह त्याग कर दिया हो और स्वयं को पूरी तरह समर्पित कर दिया हो।

Meaning: This couplet describes the supreme spiritual plane of Divine Love, which is accessible only through absolute surrender. Kabir asserts that the abode of Love is lofty and secluded; only those who have severed their ego (symbolized by the head) and placed it at the feet of the Divine can truly enter this sacred space.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि यह प्रेम का मार्ग या ईश्वर का घर कोई साधारण स्थान नहीं है जहाँ कोई भी बिना तैयारी के प्रवेश कर सके। यहाँ प्रवेश करने के लिए अपने अहंकार का पूर्ण त्याग करना आवश्यक है। जब तक मनुष्य अपने 'मैं' या गर्व को पूरी तरह समाप्त कर जमीन पर नहीं रख देता, वह इस दिव्य प्रेम के घर में प्रवेश नहीं कर सकता।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that the abode of Divine Love is not a common place or a casual gathering where one can enter without preparation. To enter this sacred space, one must completely surrender their ego. Only when a seeker figuratively removes their head—the seat of pride—and places it upon the ground, can they truly enter the home of Love.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि जिस प्रकार मेरा मन पूरी तरह से ईश्वर में लीन है, यदि तुम्हारा मन भी उसी प्रकार ईश्वर का हो जाए, तो हम दोनों का मिलन वैसा ही होगा जैसे तपते हुए लोहे का दूसरे तपते हुए लोहे से मिलन, जहाँ उनके बीच का अंतर पूरी तरह समाप्त हो जाता है और कोई यह नहीं बता सकता कि एक टुकड़ा कहाँ समाप्त हुआ और दूसरा कहाँ शुरू हुआ।

Meaning: Kabir expresses that just as his mind is utterly absorbed in the Divine, if your mind were to become equally surrendered to the Divine, the union between the seeker and the Sought would be like two pieces of molten iron merging. In such a state of intense heat and fusion, the boundary between the two vanishes completely, leaving no discernible seam or separation.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि शराब बनाने वाले (कलाल) की भट्टी के पास बहुत से लोग इकट्ठा हुए हैं। लेकिन यहाँ एक कठोर शर्त है: केवल वही व्यक्ति उस दिव्य रस या ज्ञान का पान कर सकता है जो अपना सिर (अहंकार) समर्पित करने को तैयार है। बिना अहंकार के विसर्जन के, इस सत्य को प्राप्त करना असंभव है।

Meaning: Kabir describes a crowd gathered around the vintner's vat, longing for the intoxicating brew. However, he reveals a spiritual paradox: only those willing to surrender their 'head'—a metaphor for the ego and intellectual pride—are permitted to drink. Without the total annihilation of the self, the divine nectar remains unattainable.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि यदि आप परमात्मा से दूर हैं तो इसमें कोई बड़ी बात नहीं है, क्योंकि वास्तविक निकटता केवल अहंकार के विसर्जन से ही संभव है। जब तक मनुष्य अपने 'शिर' यानी अपने अहंकार और झूठी पहचान को समर्पित नहीं करता, तब तक उसके जीवन का कोई भी आध्यात्मिक कार्य सिद्ध नहीं हो सकता।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that being distant from the Divine is a common state, but true proximity is only achieved through the surrender of the ego. Until a person is willing to offer their 'head'—symbolizing the prideful intellect and the false sense of self—no spiritual endeavor or life's purpose can reach its ultimate fruition.
