कबीर के दोहे (Kabir's Couplets)

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि यह मानव शरीर एक पुराने, जर्जर ढांचे के समान है और मन एक भंवर की तरह चंचल और अस्थिर है। इस नश्वरता के बीच, केवल परमात्मा का नाम ही वह अनमोल सार है जो जीवन को सार्थकता देता है। जब साधक अपने हृदय को राम-नाम के अमृत से सींचता है, तो उसे अंततः ऐसा आध्यात्मिक फल प्राप्त होता है जिसकी कोई सीमा नहीं है और जो पूर्णतः संतोषजनक है।

Meaning: Kabir describes the human body as a fragile, decaying structure and the mind as a turbulent whirlpool of desires. Amidst this transience, the divine name is the only incomparable essence that provides true stability. When a seeker nourishes their inner self with the nectar of 'Ram-naam', they eventually bear a spiritual fruit that is boundless, infinite, and eternally satisfying.

अर्थ: जब मेरा अहंकार पूरी तरह नष्ट हो गया, तब मैं वास्तव में मुक्त हो गया और मुझे उस निराकार ब्रह्म पर अटूट विश्वास प्राप्त हुआ। अब मेरे जीवन में किसी अन्य सांसारिक सहारे या इच्छा की आवश्यकता नहीं रही; मेरी एकमात्र आशा और शरण अब केवल उस परमात्मा में है।

Meaning: When my ego was completely annihilated, I attained true liberation and gained an unwavering faith in the Formless Brahman. Now, there remains no need for any other worldly support or desire in my life; my sole hope and refuge lie exclusively in the Divine.

अर्थ: जिस व्यक्ति के हृदय में परमात्मा का वास होता है, उसे जीवन की चिंताओं और मानसिक द्वंद्वों से मुक्ति मिल जाती है। जिस प्रकार समुद्र की एक विशाल लहर तट पर आने वाले सारे छोटे अवरोधों और गंदगी को बहा ले जाती है, उसी प्रकार ईश्वर की कृपा का एक छोटा सा अनुभव मनुष्य के समस्त दुखों और दरिद्रता को मिटा देता है।

Meaning: He whose heart is the abode of the Divine remains untouched by the anxieties and tribulations of the world. Just as a single powerful wave of the ocean sweeps away all debris and remnants from the shore, a single surge of spiritual realization obliterates all suffering and inner poverty from a seeker's life.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि कई लोग भक्ति गीतों और भजनों में पूरी तरह लीन होने का दिखावा करते हैं, लेकिन उनके मन के भीतर संदेह और सांसारिक मोह का अंत नहीं होता। अधिकांश लोग घर के भीतर रहकर भी मोह-माया में फंसे हैं, जबकि वास्तविक आध्यात्मिक उपलब्धि उस व्यक्ति की है जो सांसारिक जिम्मेदारियों के बीच रहते हुए भी मन से पूर्णतः वैरागी है।

Meaning: Kabir observes that many immerse themselves in the singing of devotional hymns, yet the shackles of doubt and worldly attachment remain unbroken. While most people are trapped by the illusions of the household, the true seeker is the one who maintains the spirit of a renunciant while living amidst the duties of a householder.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि जिन्होंने केवल शब्दों का जाप किया या दिखावे के लिए भजन गाया, उन्होंने सत्य को प्राप्त नहीं किया और वे परमात्मा से दूर ही रहे। इसके विपरीत, जिन्होंने पूर्ण विश्वास और अटूट श्रद्धा के साथ ईश्वर का स्मरण किया, उनके भीतर राम (परमात्मा) का वास पूर्ण रूप से हो गया।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that those who merely chanted words or sang hymns for outward show failed to attain the Truth and remained distant from the Divine. Conversely, those who sang with absolute faith and unwavering devotion found the Divine Presence filling every fiber of their being.

अर्थ: जब मनुष्य का मन बुराइयों और विकारों के कारण फट जाता है या दूषित हो जाता है, तो उसकी परमात्मा के साथ पवित्र सगाई या आध्यात्मिक संबंध टूट जाता है। जिस प्रकार शुद्ध दूध में यदि एक बार विषैला आक का पौधा या गंदगी गिर जाए, तो वह दूध पूरी तरह अनुपयोगी और जहरीला हो जाता है, वैसे ही अशुद्ध मन ईश्वर के साक्षात्कार के योग्य नहीं रहता।

Meaning: When the mind is torn asunder by vices and impurities, the sacred betrothal—the spiritual union between the soul and the Divine—is severed. Just as pure milk becomes toxic and unusable the moment a poisonous 'Aak' (Calotropis) plant or impurity falls into it, a mind clouded by negativity loses its capacity to hold the purity required for spiritual realization.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि जिस प्रकार चंदन की लकड़ी अपनी सुगंध से सबको मोहित करती है और चोली (वस्त्र) अपनी बनावट से पहचान दिलाती है, वैसे ही आध्यात्मिक गुण व्यक्ति के व्यक्तित्व को निखारते हैं। परंतु, यह आत्म-साक्षात्कार और मोक्ष का मार्ग हर किसी को नहीं मिलता; यह केवल उन सौभाग्यशालियों को प्राप्त होता है जिनके भीतर सच्ची तड़प और समर्पण है।

Meaning: Kabir explains that just as sandalwood imparts its fragrance to everything it touches and a garment defines a person's outward appearance, spiritual virtues refine the inner essence of a human. However, the rare pearl of liberation and the stillness of the mind are not accessible to everyone; they are granted only to those blessed with an intense longing for the Divine.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि जिस प्रकार फटे-पुराने कपड़ों से कभी कोई सुंदर वस्त्र या राजसी पोशाक नहीं बन सकती, उसी प्रकार सांसारिक मोह-माया के साथ आध्यात्मिक उत्थान संभव नहीं है। ज्ञान की प्राप्ति के बाद कबीर ने स्वर्ण (धन) और कामिनी (इंद्रिय सुखों) दोनों का त्याग कर दिया ताकि वे सत्य को पा सकें।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that just as tattered, worn-out rags can never be transformed into a royal garment, spiritual transcendence is impossible while clinging to worldly attachments. Upon attaining true gnosis, Kabir renounced both gold (material wealth) and sensual pleasures, recognizing them as barriers to the ultimate realization of the Divine.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि मनुष्य अपनी चेतना और मन के भंवर में इस कदर उलझ गया है कि वह उस वास्तविक 'चेतय' या शुद्ध आत्मा को नहीं देख पा रहा है। वह बाहरी दुनिया के टुकड़ों और सांसारिक मोह-माया के छोटे-छोटे हिस्सों को बटोरने में लगा है, जबकि उसके भीतर अनंत ब्रह्मांड और असीम शांति का शहर मौजूद है जिसे उसने अनदेखा कर दिया है।

Meaning: Kabir observes that the human being has become so deeply immersed in the whirlpool of the mind and fluctuating consciousness that they fail to perceive the true 'Chetya' or the Pure Witness. The individual spends their entire existence gathering fragmented pieces of worldly desires and material attachments, completely oblivious to the fact that an infinite city of spiritual liberation and eternal peace resides within their own being.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि जो व्यक्ति इस संसार से विदा हो रहा है या अपना मार्ग बदल रहा है, उसे शांति से जाने देना चाहिए। यह जीवन एक नाविक की नाव की तरह है, जहाँ यात्री आते-जाते रहते हैं। जिस स्थिति में वह जा रहा है, वह उसकी अपनी नियति है, और समय के साथ ऐसे कई और लोग आएंगे और जाएंगे।

Meaning: Kabir suggests that one who is departing from this world or leaving your life should be allowed to go without clinging. Life is likened to a boatman's vessel where passengers are transient. The state in which they depart is their own destiny, and in the vast flow of existence, countless others will arrive and depart in a similar cycle.
