कबीर के दोहे (Kabir's Couplets)

अर्थ: कबीर दास जी कहते हैं कि हे पागल मनुष्य! तू मृत्यु की वास्तविकता को पूरी तरह भूल गया है और इस बात पर आश्चर्य करता है कि अंत क्या होगा। यह शरीर अंततः मिट्टी में ही मिल जाना है, ठीक वैसे ही जैसे नमक आटे में मिलकर पूरी तरह विलीन हो जाता है और अपनी अलग पहचान खो देता है।

Meaning: Kabir addresses the oblivious human soul, calling them 'foolish' for forgetting the inevitability of death. He questions why one is surprised by the end, asserting that the physical body is destined to dissolve into the earth, just as a pinch of salt vanishes completely when kneaded into flour, losing its individual form to become one with the whole.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि मनुष्य को अपने मन के भीतर गहराई से विचार करना चाहिए और व्यर्थ के सांसारिक कार्यों और वासनाओं का त्याग करना चाहिए। जिस आध्यात्मिक मार्ग पर तुम्हें अंततः चलना है, उसी मार्ग को शुद्ध और सुगम बनाओ क्योंकि यही वास्तविक गंतव्य है।

Meaning: Kabir urges the seeker to introspect deeply within the mind and eliminate futile worldly desires and trivial pursuits. He emphasizes that one must cultivate and refine the spiritual path they are destined to walk, for this internal journey is the only true destination.

अर्थ: मिट्टी कुम्हार से कहती है कि तू मुझे अपने पैरों से क्यों कुचल रहा है? याद रख, एक दिन ऐसा समय आएगा जब मैं तुझे अपने भीतर समा लूंगी और तू मुझमें ही मिल जाएगा। यह दोहा जीवन की नश्वरता और अहंकार के अंत की चेतावनी है।

Meaning: The clay speaks to the potter, asking why he treads upon it with such arrogance. It warns that a day shall inevitably come when the roles will reverse, and the earth shall consume the potter, returning him to the primordial dust from which he emerged.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि जिसने जीवन भर उस निराकार परमात्मा (राम) के वास्तविक स्वरूप को नहीं पहचाना, उसे अंततः समय की मार और मृत्यु के कष्ट झेलने पड़ेंगे। जिस प्रकार कुम्हार द्वारा गूँधे जाने के बाद मिट्टी का बर्तन टूटकर बिखर जाता है और उपेक्षित हो जाता है, वैसे ही अज्ञानी मनुष्य का शरीर अंततः मिट्टी में मिल जाएगा और वह अपनी आध्यात्मिक विफलता के कारण मानसिक और आत्मिक पीड़ा सहेगा।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that one who fails to realize the true essence of the Formless Divine (Ram) during their lifetime will eventually face the inevitable strike of time and the agony of death. Just as clay, after being shaped and broken by a potter, returns to the earth and is trampled upon, the soul of an ignorant human, tethered to the physical body, will suffer the consequences of its spiritual negligence upon the dissolution of the flesh.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि मनुष्य ने अपनी चतुराई से बैल की आकृति तो बना ली, लेकिन वह उसके सींग और पूंछ बनाना भूल गया। इसी प्रकार, बिना सद्गुरु के ज्ञान के, मनुष्य का बाहरी आडंबर और अहंकार व्यर्थ है; ऐसी दाढ़ी और मूंछों का कोई मूल्य नहीं जो केवल दिखावे के लिए हों।

Meaning: Kabir observes that a man may carve a statue of an ox, but if he forgets the horns and the tail, the creation remains incomplete. Similarly, without the guidance of a true spiritual teacher, a person's outward displays of piety, status, or masculinity are meaningless; such vanity is a hollow shell devoid of true essence.

अर्थ: कबीर दास जी कहते हैं कि जो काम कल करना है उसे आज ही कर लो, क्योंकि तुम्हारे पास सभी आवश्यक साधन और क्षमताएं अभी उपलब्ध हैं। यदि तुम समय को टालते रहे, तो अंततः समय (मृत्यु) तुम्हें अपने नियंत्रण में ले लेगा और तुम चाहकर भी कुछ नहीं कर पाओगे।

Meaning: Kabir urges us to accomplish today what we intend to do tomorrow, for all the necessary resources and capabilities are currently within our reach. If we persist in procrastination, time—which eventually manifests as death—will seize us, leaving us powerless to act upon our spiritual or worldly intentions.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि यह संसार एक रात्रि के स्वप्न के समान है, जिसमें हमारी आँखें केवल भ्रम को देखती हैं। मनुष्य इस मायावी संसार के मोहजाल में इतना उलझ गया है कि वह वास्तव में सब कुछ खो चुका है; अंत में उसके पास न तो कोई वास्तविक उपलब्धि है और न ही कोई आध्यात्मिक पूंजी।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that this worldly existence is akin to a nocturnal dream, where our eyes perceive only illusions. The soul has become so entangled in the plunder of Maya that it has lost its true essence; in the final reckoning, there is neither any tangible gain nor any spiritual currency to carry forward.

अर्थ: मनुष्य को अपने वर्तमान क्षण की कोई चेतना नहीं है, फिर भी वह भविष्य की लंबी योजनाएं बनाता रहता है। मृत्यु अत्यंत आकस्मिक है; वह बिना किसी चेतावनी के हमला करती है, ठीक वैसे ही जैसे एक बाज अचानक आसमान से नीचे झपटकर एक unsuspecting तीतर का शिकार कर लेता है।

Meaning: Man possesses no awareness of the present moment, yet he spends his life meticulously planning for a distant future. Death is sudden and unpredictable; it strikes without warning, mirroring the swiftness of a hawk descending from the sky to seize an unsuspecting partridge.

अर्थ: यह दोहा चेतावनी देता है कि सांसारिक उपलब्धियां, ऊंचे पद और बाहरी दिखावा अंततः खोखले और व्यर्थ हैं। बिना एक सच्चे आध्यात्मिक गुरु के मार्गदर्शन और उस परमात्मा के नाम के स्मरण के, आत्मा को मृत्यु के पश्चात घोर कष्ट और भटकाव का सामना करना पड़ता है।

Meaning: This couplet warns that worldly achievements, high status, and outward displays of grandeur are ultimately hollow and futile. Without the guidance of a true spiritual master and the remembrance of the Divine Name, the soul faces immense suffering and disorientation upon the arrival of death.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि आत्मा ने अपना समय और अवसर पहचान लिया है और अब वह अपने प्रिय परमात्मा की ओर प्रस्थान कर रही है। हे जीव! अब तेरी बारी है कि तू अपनी अज्ञानता को त्यागकर उस परम सत्य के निकट आए जो सदैव तेरे पास रहकर भी ओझल था।

Meaning: Kabir proclaims that the soul has recognized its appointed time and is now journeying toward its beloved Divine. He calls out to the individual soul, urging it to realize that its own turn has come to shed ignorance and draw near to the Eternal Truth that has always been present yet remained unseen.
