अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि मनुष्य केवल नाम के लिए आध्यात्मिक साधक बना रहता है, ठीक वैसे ही जैसे एक दीपक में बाती लगी होती है। लेकिन जब तक उसमें तेल (सच्ची श्रद्धा और आंतरिक ऊर्जा) नहीं होता, वह अंततः बुझ जाता है और व्यक्ति अज्ञान की गहरी नींद में खोया रहता है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that many claim spiritual identity in name only, resembling a lamp that possesses a wick but lacks oil. When the fuel of genuine devotion and inner awareness is exhausted, the flame of consciousness extinguishes, leaving the soul slumbering in the darkness of ignorance.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि जब मनुष्य अपने कुलाचारों, पारिवारिक अहंकार और सांसारिक कर्मों के मोह में फंसकर अपनी आध्यात्मिक चेतना (हंस) को खो देता है, तो फिर कुल की मर्यादा या प्रतिष्ठा का कोई अर्थ नहीं रह जाता। जब आत्मा पशुवत हो जाती है, तो कुल का गौरव व्यर्थ है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that when a human being loses their spiritual consciousness (symbolized by the swan) due to the obsession with lineage, ancestral pride, and worldly rituals, the notion of family honor becomes meaningless. Once the soul descends to a primal, animalistic state of ego, ancestral prestige holds no value.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि यह संसार केवल बातों और सुनने में ही समय व्यतीत कर देता है, लेकिन समय की क्रूरता और मृत्यु का सत्य किसी को समझ नहीं आता। हे जीवित प्राणियों, जाग जाओ और उस परमात्मा के नाम (सत्य) को अपने भीतर संजोकर रखो, क्योंकि वही एकमात्र स्थायी सहारा है।

Meaning: Kabir observes that the world wastes its existence in endless chatter and superficial listening, remaining oblivious to the inevitable passage of time and the certainty of death. Meaning: Kabir observes that humans spend immense effort on external appearances—wearing pristine white clothes and indulging in luxuries like betel leaf and nuts. अर्थ: एक अत्यंत सुंदर स्त्री, जो अपने परिवार की मर्यादा और पर्दे की ओट में सुरक्षित रहती थी, समय आने पर मृत्यु के सामने विवश हो गई। जब काल का बुलावा आया, तो उसकी सारी सामाजिक प्रतिष्ठा, सौंदर्य और पारिवारिक सुरक्षा व्यर्थ हो गई और वह अंततः श्मशान की खुली मिट्टी में मिल गई।

Meaning: A woman of exquisite beauty, who lived secluded behind the veils of modesty and family honor, found herself powerless when the hour of death arrived. Once the call of time came, all her social status, physical allure, and familial protections vanished, leaving her body to merge with the open earth of the cremation ground.

अर्थ: कबीर एक नासमझ मछली को संबोधित करते हुए कहते हैं कि वह अपने शरीर की रक्षा नहीं कर सकी। जिस सरोवर ने उसे आश्रय दिया, वह वास्तव में उसकी सेवा नहीं थी, और जिस जाल ने उसे पकड़ा, वह केवल काल का एक साधन था। यह संसार की मोह-माया और अज्ञानता के प्रति एक चेतावनी है।

Meaning: Kabir addresses an ignorant fish that failed to protect its own existence. He explains that the lake providing shelter was not truly serving the fish, and the net that captured it was merely the instrument of time and death. It is a stark warning against the delusions of worldly security and the blindness of the soul.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि मनुष्य ने अपनी पूरी रात नींद में और पूरा दिन केवल भोजन और सांसारिक सुखों की खोज में व्यर्थ कर दिया। यह मानव जीवन एक अत्यंत बहुमूल्य हीरे के समान था, जिसे उसने अपनी अज्ञानता और आलस्य के कारण कौड़ियों के दाम यानी तुच्छ सांसारिक लाभों के बदले गंवा दिया।

Meaning: Kabir laments that a human spends their nights in slumber and their days in the pursuit of food and sensory gratification. This human birth, which is as priceless as a rare diamond, is squandered and traded for mere shells—symbolizing the trivial, fleeting pleasures of the material world.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि मानव जीवन अत्यंत संक्षिप्त और क्षणभंगुर है, जबकि इस संसार में अहंकार और भौतिक उपलब्धियों का ढेर बहुत बड़ा है। अंततः, मृत्यु के मार्ग पर राजा, रंक और सुल्तान सभी एक ही पंक्ति में खड़े होते हैं; वहाँ कोई सामाजिक भेद या पद का गौरव काम नहीं आता।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that human life is fleeting and brief, while the accumulation of ego and material pride is immense. Ultimately, on the path toward the inevitable end, the king, the pauper, and the sultan all stand in the same queue; no social distinction or worldly rank holds any value in the face of death.

अर्थ: एक किसान अपनी लहलहाती फसल को देखकर गर्व महसूस करता है और अपनी सफलता पर अहंकार करता है। लेकिन कबीर चेतावनी देते हैं कि फसल का दिखना और उसका सुरक्षित घर पहुंचना दो अलग बातें हैं; असली परिणाम केवल कटाई और भंडारण के बाद ही पता चलता है।

Meaning: A farmer, seeing his lush, ripening crops, swells with pride and prematurely celebrates his success. However, Kabir warns that the appearance of a harvest is not the same as the harvest in the granary; the true outcome is only known once the grain is safely brought home.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि मनुष्य ने इस दुर्लभ मानव जीवन के अवसर को नहीं पहचाना और इसे केवल पशुओं की तरह खाने-पीने और सोने में व्यतीत कर दिया। उसने उस वास्तविक 'राम' (परमात्मा) को नहीं जाना, और अंत समय में उसे केवल पछतावा और विलाप ही हाथ लगा।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that the human being has failed to recognize the rare opportunity of this earthly existence, spending it merely on physical sustenance and sensory gratification like an animal.
