कबीर के दोहे (Kabir's Couplets)

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि जिस प्रकार बीज से अंकुर निकलता है और अंकुर पुनः बीज बनता है, वैसे ही यह शरीर कर्मों से निर्मित होता है और कर्म इस शरीर के माध्यम से प्रकट होते हैं। यह एक अंतहीन चक्र है जिससे केवल वही मुक्त हो पाता है जिसने आत्म-ज्ञान के माध्यम से स्वयं को शुद्ध कर लिया है।

Meaning: Kabir explains the cyclical nature of existence: just as a seed produces a sprout and a sprout eventually yields a seed, the physical body is a manifestation of past actions (karmas), and the body in turn generates new actions. अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि चाहे किसी के पास अरबों-खरबों की संपत्ति हो या पूरे साम्राज्य का वैभव और राजसी सुख हो, लेकिन भक्ति की महिमा और उसके आध्यात्मिक मूल्य के सामने यह सब कुछ तुच्छ है। सांसारिक धन और सत्ता का कोई भी पैमाना भक्ति के अनंत आनंद और मोक्ष की शक्ति को नहीं माप सकता।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that whether one possesses wealth in the billions and trillions, or holds the sovereign power of vast empires, such material abundance is insignificant compared to the greatness of devotion. No earthly measure of gold or governance can outweigh the spiritual liberation and eternal bliss derived from true devotion to the Divine.

This is the state where the Divine manifests within the devotee with all Their sovereign power and celestial glory.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि जब मनुष्य अपने अहंकार, सांसारिक मोह और झूठे रिश्तों को त्याग देता है, तब वह उस पशु के समान हो जाता है जिसके दांत नहीं हैं—अर्थात वह पूरी तरह असहाय और सरल हो गया है। ऐसी स्थिति में मुक्ति तड़प रही है, वह वृंदावन की गलियों में उस आत्मा को खोजने के लिए व्याकुल है जिसने अंततः स्वयं को शून्य कर लिया है।

Meaning: Kabir suggests that when a seeker abandons their ego, worldly attachments, and false identities, they become like a toothless animal—utterly humble and stripped of the power to bite or resist. In this state of complete surrender and vulnerability, liberation itself yearns for the seeker, wandering the sacred groves of Vrindavan, searching for the soul that has finally become empty.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि यदि समुद्र में अग्नि लग जाए, तो उसका धुआँ बाहर दिखाई नहीं देता। उसी प्रकार, आत्मा के भीतर जो आध्यात्मिक तड़प और विरह की अग्नि जलती है, वह बाहरी दुनिया को नहीं दिखती। इसे केवल वही जान सकता है जिसने स्वयं को उस अग्नि में समर्पित कर दिया हो और अहंकार का पूर्ण विनाश कर लिया हो।

Meaning: Kabir suggests that if a fire were to ignite within the ocean, no smoke would be visible on the surface. Similarly, the intense fire of spiritual longing and divine separation burning within the soul remains invisible to the external world. Only the one who has been completely consumed by this fire—having annihilated their ego—can truly comprehend its intensity and nature.

Meaning: Kabir posits a paradox: if fire were to ignite within the ocean, every root and aquatic plant would be incinerated. Similarly, scholars from the East and West, trapped in the labyrinth of intellectual discourse and theoretical contemplation, perished in their search for truth because they relied on the mind rather than the direct experience of the Divine.

अर्थ: यह दोहा आध्यात्मिक यात्रा की कठिनता और अहंकार के विनाश को दर्शाता है। आगे का मार्ग अत्यंत संकीर्ण है जहाँ केवल सूक्ष्म आत्मा जा सकती है, और पीछे का पुराना व्यक्तित्व पूरी तरह नष्ट हो चुका है। जो साधक इस मायावी पर्दे को पार कर लेता है, वह उस परम सौंदर्य (ईश्वर) को प्राप्त करता है जो सांसारिक संघर्षों और द्वंद्वों से मुक्त है।

The path forward is extremely narrow, allowing only the subtle soul to pass, while the old identity behind has been shattered.
