Meaning: Kabir asserts that when the vine of life withers and the intellect becomes corrupted by ignorance, the fruits of one's actions become tasteless and void. When the inner consciousness is absent, all outward achievements and ritualistic displays are like bitter lotus leaves or scentless flowers, possessing no true spiritual essence or divine fragrance.

Meaning: Kabir asserts that whether one remains seated like a merchant calculating profits, stands like a cowherd tending his flock, or stays awake like a sentinel guarding the gates, Death (Kaal) eventually claims everyone. No state of alertness or social position can offer sanctuary from the inevitable end.

Meaning: Kabir observes that the world is filled with a multitude of conflicting words and diverse discourses, yet the inner vision remains clouded. He urgently calls out to the seeker to stop chasing external noise and instead listen to and comprehend the silent, divine language resonating within one's own heart.

Meaning: Kabir asserts that his speech and spiritual realizations originate from a primordial time and a timeless truth that remains invisible to the ordinary eye. Only those who are attuned to the 'Dhur Purab'—the primordial East or the original source of existence—possess the spiritual vision required to recognize and comprehend the essence of his message.

Meaning: This world is like a swirling vortex of attachment and illusion, where countless unconscious souls are drowning in ignorance. Kabir asserts that only those who possess true discernment and spiritual wisdom within their hearts can escape this intricate web of existence.

Meaning: Just as a wanderer lingers in a garden, captivated by the fragrance of countless flowers and forgetting his destination, a human soul becomes so entangled in the lures of sensory pleasures and worldly desires that, in the end, they depart from this life feeling empty and utterly disappointed.

Meaning: Kabir asserts that devotion to the Divine (Ram) is as intense and consuming as fire. Just as a raging fire reduces an entire city to ashes, true spiritual devotion incinerates the ego, worldly attachments, and the false sense of identity, leaving the seeker in a state of absolute surrender and longing.

Meaning: Kabir asserts that people have corrupted the true essence of devotion. They waste their efforts washing external symbols, such as pebbles and stones, while harboring the poison of hatred, greed, and ego within their hearts. By obsessing over these outward rituals, they lose the opportunity to discover and experience the divine nectar of spiritual awakening residing within themselves.

Meaning: Kabir asserts that illusion and ignorance permeate all three realms of existence and reside everywhere. He questions how one can possibly read the truth or escape the cycle of suffering when they are fundamentally residing within the village of delusion itself.

Meaning: Kabir observes that the masses are rushing to the fisherman's court to trade in the 'fish' of worldly desires. He addresses the soul, reminding it that its essence is as precious as a rare jewel, questioning why such a divine entity would choose to entangle itself in the trivial and deceptive nets of material illusion.
