कबीर के दोहे (Kabir's Couplets)

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि ईश्वर या अपने प्रियतम (परमात्मा) का वास्तविक सुख पाने के लिए साधक को प्रेम के आभूषण पहनने चाहिए, धैर्य का काजल लगाना चाहिए और शील (सदाचार) का सिंदूर धारण करना चाहिए। जब आंतरिक शुद्धि और धैर्य का संगम होता है, तभी आत्मा का मिलन परमात्मा से संभव है।

Meaning: Kabir suggests that to experience the true bliss of the Beloved (the Divine), a seeker must adorn themselves with the ornaments of love, apply the kohl of patience, and wear the vermilion of virtuous conduct. Only when inner purity and steadfast patience converge can the soul achieve union with the Supreme Consciousness.

अर्थ: सच्चा प्रेम कभी छिपाया नहीं जा सकता; यह उस हृदय में प्रकट होता है जहाँ यह निवास करता है। यदि कोई व्यक्ति अपनी वाणी से इस प्रेम को व्यक्त नहीं कर पाता, तो उसकी आँखों के आँसू उस गहरे विरह और समर्पण को स्वयं ही बयां कर देते हैं।

Meaning: True divine love cannot be concealed; it inevitably manifests within the heart where it resides. Even if a person remains silent and cannot articulate this love through words, their eyes betray the secret, weeping in the profound longing and surrender of the soul.

अर्थ: बिना प्रेम के धैर्य नहीं आता और बिना विरह की तड़प के वैराग्य पैदा नहीं होता। इसी प्रकार, बिना एक सच्चे सद्गुरु के मार्गदर्शन के, मन के गहरे संस्कारों और वासनाओं के दाग कभी मिट नहीं सकते। यह दोहा आध्यात्मिक शुद्धि के लिए प्रेम, पीड़ा और गुरु की अनिवार्यता को दर्शाता है।

Meaning: Without love, there is no patience; without the agony of separation, there is no true detachment. Similarly, without the guidance of a True Guru, the deep-seated stains of desire and mental impressions cannot be erased. This couplet emphasizes that love, longing, and a spiritual guide are essential for the purification of the soul.

अर्थ: जो व्यक्ति प्रेम और भक्ति के गहरे भाव में लीन रहता है, वह अंततः मोक्ष और मुक्ति का फल प्राप्त करता है। जब साधक उस 'शब्द' (परम ध्वनि या ईश्वरीय सत्य) में पूरी तरह विलीन हो जाता है, तो वह जन्म और मृत्यु के चक्र से मुक्त हो जाता है, जहाँ न कुछ आने का दुख रहता है और न जाने का भय।

Meaning: One who remains completely immersed in the essence of love and devotion eventually attains the fruit of liberation and salvation. When the seeker merges entirely into the 'Shabd' (the primordial sound or divine truth), they transcend the cycle of coming and going, reaching a state of eternal stillness where duality ceases to exist.

अर्थ: वे लोग वास्तव में अमरत्व या आध्यात्मिक आनंद (अमृत) को प्राप्त करते हैं, जिन्होंने सतगुरु के वचनों को ध्यानपूर्वक सुना और आत्मसात किया। जब वह अगोचर (इंद्रियों से परे) परमात्मा का अनुभव हो जाता है, तो मन फिर कभी सांसारिक भटकाव या अन्य इच्छाओं की ओर नहीं लौटता।

Meaning: Those who truly attain the nectar of immortality and spiritual bliss are those who have listened with deep attention to the guidance of the True Guru. Once the 'Agochar'—the imperceptible, formless Divine—is realized, the mind ceases its restless wandering and no longer seeks solace in the transient distractions of the material world.

अर्थ: यह दोहा प्रेम के उस सर्वोच्च आध्यात्मिक स्तर का वर्णन करता है जहाँ केवल पूर्ण समर्पण संभव है। कबीर कहते हैं कि ईश्वर या प्रेम का घर अत्यंत ऊँचा और एकांत में है; वहाँ केवल वही प्रवेश कर सकता है जिसने अपने अहंकार (सिर) का पूरी तरह त्याग कर दिया हो और स्वयं को पूरी तरह समर्पित कर दिया हो।

Meaning: This couplet describes the supreme spiritual plane of Divine Love, which is accessible only through absolute surrender. Kabir asserts that the abode of Love is lofty and secluded; only those who have severed their ego (symbolized by the head) and placed it at the feet of the Divine can truly enter this sacred space.

अर्थ: कबीर दास जी कहते हैं कि यह संसार और वह परमात्मा वास्तव में एक ही तत्व हैं। यद्यपि हमें शरीर दो अलग-अलग दिखाई देते हैं, परंतु उनमें प्रवाहित होने वाला प्राण तत्व एक ही है। इस सत्य को केवल अपने अंतर्मन की गहराई में उतरकर ही अनुभव किया जा सकता है, क्योंकि यह बौद्धिक तर्क का विषय नहीं बल्कि आत्मिक अनुभूति है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that the manifest world and the divine essence are fundamentally one and the same. Although we perceive two distinct bodies or forms, the vital life-force animating them is a single, undivided entity. This truth cannot be grasped through intellectual reasoning but must be realized through the depths of one's own inner consciousness and intuitive experience.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि उन्होंने अपने गुरु के ज्ञान रूपी रस को पूरी तरह से आत्मसात कर लिया है, अब उनके भीतर किसी अन्य बाहरी ज्ञान या सांसारिक मोह की कोई प्यास नहीं बची है। जिस प्रकार कुम्हार द्वारा पका लिया गया घड़ा अब पूरी तरह स्थिर और ठोस हो चुका है, उसे दोबारा आकार देने के लिए चाक पर नहीं चढ़ाया जा सकता, वैसे ही उनकी आत्मा अब पूर्ण और अपरिवर्तनीय हो गई है।

Meaning: Kabir declares that he has fully imbibed the essence of his Guru's wisdom, leaving no room for further longing or external influence. Just as a pot, once fired in the kiln by the potter, becomes solid and permanent and can no longer be reshaped on the potter's wheel, Kabir's soul has reached a state of spiritual completion and immutability.

अर्थ: कबीर पूछते हैं कि वह सच्चा प्रेम कहाँ गया जिसे सबने देखा था? जो प्रेम क्षण भर के लिए आता है और फिर हंसी-मजाक या चंचलता में बदल जाता है, वह वास्तविक आध्यात्मिक प्रेम नहीं है। सच्चा प्रेम स्थायी और गहरा होता है, न कि क्षणिक आवेग।

Meaning: Kabir questions the disappearance of true love that was once witnessed by all. He asserts that a feeling which lingers for a mere moment and then dissolves into fleeting laughter or superficiality cannot be termed as true love. Real love is an enduring state of being, not a transient emotional surge.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि दिन के आठ पहर और चौसठ घड़ियों के प्रत्येक क्षण में ईश्वर के प्रति प्रेम बना रहना चाहिए। जब हृदय में एक पल के लिए भी उस परमात्मा की याद ओझल न हो, तभी वास्तविक वैराग्य की प्राप्ति होती है। यह केवल बाहरी त्याग नहीं, बल्कि आंतरिक निरंतरता है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that love for the Divine must persist through every single moment of the day—across all eight 'pahars' and sixty-four 'ghadis'. True detachment, or Vairagya, is achieved only when the remembrance of the Eternal does not fade from the heart for even a single blink of an eye.
