(Peace of Mind) — Kabir Dohas

Meaning: Kabir advises that the practice of remembrance (Sumiran) should be approached with the same patience and precision as a water-carrier fills her pot. Spiritual awakening and meditative focus are not achieved through haste, but through a slow, steady, and conscious alignment of the inner attention.

Meaning: By associating with the Divine or the company of the enlightened, the mind has become profoundly cool and serene. The scorching heat of worldly attachment and delusion has vanished. Now, throughout the day and night, an endless treasure of bliss is attained, for the Divine Presence has finally revealed itself within.

Meaning: Kabir suggests that internal conflicts, disputes, and the endless cycle of imaginative delusions can only be dissolved through 'Satsangati'—the company of truth or the association with enlightened souls. By aligning oneself with the ultimate reality, the pervasive sorrow of existence is banished, allowing the seeker to merge into a state of enduring bliss and spiritual equilibrium.

Meaning: Kabir observes that in the chaotic era of Kali Yuga, people are driven by fear and anxiety, engaging in countless superficial rituals and desperate actions to find security. However, those who have anchored their hearts to the One—the singular, formless Divine—attain a state of absolute fearlessness and sleep in the lap of eternal peace.

Meaning: Kabir observes that the water of the life-pond is receding and the time for liberation is slipping away. While other birds (worldly souls) have consumed the superficial waters, the Swan (the spiritual seeker), symbolizing discernment and purity, has yet to dip its beak into the nectar of divine realization, remaining dormant in its spiritual awakening.

Meaning: Kabir asserts that true realization dawns only when the mind attains a state of absolute equilibrium and stillness. When one sheds all external pretenses and internal biases to remain truly impartial, they experience the Ultimate Truth that transcends the limitations of linguistic description.

Meaning: Kabir asserts that if conflict and discord reside within one's own home or heart, claiming to be a renunciant or a seeker is futile. When a single existence is split between two opposing inclinations or contradictory beliefs, true devotion cannot possibly blossom.

Meaning: Kabir explains that while sages strive relentlessly for happiness and both celestial beings and humans lament its absence, true and effortless bliss is not found in struggle. Instead, this innate joy is realized through the company of the enlightened—the saints who mirror the divine truth.

Meaning: Kabir asserts that both longing (viraha) and detachment (vairagya) are auspicious paths. The householder, bound by worldly attachments, is purified through the agony of separation to reach detachment, while the ascetic, already detached, evolves into a state of divine passion and intense love for the Formless One. Both trajectories converge at the ultimate truth.

Meaning: Upon witnessing the arrival of a true seeker or a realized soul, the rigidity and tension within my physical and mental being dissolve. The heavy burden of ego and the 'planetary' afflictions of the mind lift from my forehead, replaced by an overflowing surge of divine love and affection in my eyes.
