कबीर के दोहे (Kabir's Couplets)

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि संसार में ऐसा कोई दुर्लभ व्यक्ति नहीं मिलता जो ईश्वर की प्राप्ति के लिए अपने मोह-माया रूपी घर को जला दे। वह व्यक्ति जो अपने पांचों इंद्रियों (संतानों) का त्याग कर, सांसारिक आसक्तियों को पीछे छोड़कर पूरी तरह से राम (परमात्मा) के प्रति समर्पित हो जाए, वही वास्तव में सच्चा साधक है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that it is exceedingly rare to find a soul willing to set fire to the 'house' of their worldly attachments. He speaks of the ultimate sacrifice where one casts aside the five clinging desires—symbolized as children—to dwell exclusively in the divine presence of Ram, achieving a state of total spiritual surrender.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि इस संसार में ऐसा कोई व्यक्ति नहीं मिलता जिसके साथ मन पूरी तरह से एकाकार हो सके या जिसे पूर्णतः समझा जा सके। पूरी दुनिया अपनी-अपनी इच्छाओं, अहंकार और मानसिक क्लेशों की अग्नि में जल रही है, और हर व्यक्ति अपने निजी दुखों और वासनाओं के जाल में फंसा हुआ है।

Meaning: Kabir observes that one cannot find a soul with whom there is a perfect, selfless alignment or absolute understanding. The entire world is seen as being consumed by fire, but it is not a single external flame; rather, every individual is burning in the fire of their own desires, attachments, and ego-driven suffering.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि इस संसार में ऐसा कोई व्यक्ति नहीं मिलता जो पूर्णतः सत्य का मार्ग बता सके, क्योंकि सत्य शब्दों से परे है। शून्य मंडल यानी उस परम शून्य अवस्था में केवल एक ही अविनाशी पुरुष (परमात्मा) का वास है, और साधक को अपनी चेतना को उसी एक तत्व के साथ एकाकार कर लेना चाहिए।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that no human guide can fully articulate the ultimate truth through mere words or methods, as the Absolute transcends language. In the 'Sunni Mandal'—the void or the sphere of emptiness—resides the one Eternal Being; the seeker is urged to merge their consciousness and remain anchored in that singular, formless reality.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि हम इस संसार को निरंतर बदलते और नष्ट होते देखते हैं, और अंततः यह संसार भी हमें जाते हुए देखता है। इस विदाई के क्षण में, कोई भी ऐसा सांसारिक रिश्ता या व्यक्ति नहीं होता जो हमें पकड़ सके या इस मृत्यु के अटल सत्य से हमें छुड़ा सके।

Meaning: Kabir observes that we witness the world passing away, and in turn, the world witnesses our own departure. In that final moment of transition, there is no earthly bond, no hand, and no mortal entity capable of holding us back or liberating us from the inevitable grip of death.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि संसार में तीन प्रकार के प्रेम—काम, मोह और लोभ—आसानी से मिल जाते हैं और लोग इनमें उलझे रहते हैं। लेकिन चौथा प्रेम, जो परमात्मा के प्रति निस्वार्थ भक्ति है, वह अत्यंत दुर्लभ है। विडंबना यह है कि सभी आत्माएं वास्तव में राम (परमात्मा) की प्रिय हैं, फिर भी वे इस भौतिक संसार में परदेसियों की तरह विस्मृत होकर भटक रहे हैं।

Meaning: Kabir observes that three forms of affection—lust, attachment, and greed—are abundant and easily found, trapping the soul in worldly cycles. However, the fourth love, the selfless devotion to the Divine, remains elusive. The tragedy lies in the fact that while every soul is inherently beloved by the Eternal Ram, they exist in this material realm as estranged exiles, forgetting their true home.

अर्थ: जब मनुष्य माया के मोहजाल में फंस जाता है, तो उसकी वाणी और विचार व्यर्थ हो जाते हैं। वह केवल बाहरी आडंबरों और शब्दों का खेल खेलता है, लेकिन वास्तव में वह सत्य के मार्ग पर चलने वाला वह 'घायल' प्रेमी नहीं बन पाता जिसने अपने अहंकार को पूरी तरह नष्ट कर दिया हो। केवल वही व्यक्ति ईश्वर के सान्निध्य को प्राप्त करता है जिसने अपनी वासनाओं का अंत कर दिया है।

Meaning: When a human becomes entangled in the illusions of Maya, their words and discourse become meaningless chatter. They engage in superficial rituals and intellectual gymnastics, yet they fail to become that 'wounded' seeker—one whose ego has been pierced and destroyed. Only those who have transcended worldly attachments and annihilated the self can truly dwell in the presence of the Divine.

अर्थ: संसार में बहुत से ऐसे लोग मिलते हैं जो स्वयं को वीर, शक्तिशाली और आध्यात्मिक रूप से श्रेष्ठ मानते हैं, लेकिन वास्तव में 'घायल' या टूटे हुए लोग कम मिलते हैं। जब एक अहंकार-शून्य, आंतरिक रूप से टूटा हुआ व्यक्ति दूसरे ऐसे ही विनम्र व्यक्ति से मिलता है, तभी सच्ची राम-भक्ति या ईश्वर के प्रति अटूट समर्पण का जन्म होता है।

Meaning: In this world, one encounters countless individuals who proclaim themselves as warriors, the strong, or the spiritually advanced, yet those who are truly 'wounded' are rare. It is only when one broken soul meets another who is equally shattered by the realization of their own insignificance that a firm, unwavering devotion to the Divine (Ram) is established.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि मैंने अपनी वासनाओं और अहंकार रूपी घर को ज्ञान की मशाल से जला दिया है। अब मैं उस व्यक्ति के मोह-माया रूपी घर को जलाने के लिए तैयार हूँ, जो इस कठिन आध्यात्मिक मार्ग पर मेरे साथ चलने का साहस रखता है।

Meaning: Kabir declares that he has set fire to his own 'home'—the dwelling of ego, attachments, and worldly desires—using the torch of divine knowledge. He now offers to incinerate the illusory structures of those who possess the courage to accompany him on this rigorous spiritual journey.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि मनुष्य ने अनमोल आध्यात्मिक रत्न (ईश्वर या आत्म-ज्ञान) को पैरों तले रौंद दिया और उसके बदले में तुच्छ कंकड़ (सांसारिक मोह-माया) को हाथ में उठा लिया। इस अज्ञानता के कारण, वह अपनी मूल आध्यात्मिक जोड़ी, उस दिव्य हंस (परमात्मा) से बिछड़ गया और अब वह बगुले जैसे सांसारिक और चालाक लोगों के साथ भटक रहा है।

Meaning: Kabir laments that humanity has trampled upon the priceless spiritual gem (Divine Knowledge or the Soul) and instead grasped a worthless pebble (worldly attachments). In this profound ignorance, the soul, symbolized as a celestial swan, has been severed from its divine union and is now relegated to the company of cranes—those preoccupied with superficiality and worldly cunning.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि उन्होंने एक बहुत बड़ा आश्चर्य देखा है कि संसार रूपी बाज़ार में आत्मा रूपी अनमोल हीरा कौड़ियों के दाम बिक रहा है। मनुष्य अपनी वास्तविक दिव्य प्रकृति को भूलकर सांसारिक मोह-माया और तुच्छ भौतिक सुखों के पीछे भाग रहा है, जिससे वह अपने भीतर के ईश्वर को खो देता है।

Meaning: Kabir observes a profound paradox: in the marketplace of worldly existence, the priceless diamond of the soul is being traded for mere shells. Human beings, blinded by ignorance, exchange their eternal spiritual essence for fleeting, trivial material pleasures and ego-driven desires, failing to recognize the divine spark within.
