कबीर के दोहे (Kabir's Couplets)

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि बाहरी शत्रु शक्तिशाली हो सकते हैं, लेकिन मनुष्य के भीतर पांच इंद्रियां सबसे बड़े शत्रु हैं। ये पांचों इंद्रियां अपनी इच्छाओं और स्वादों के पीछे मनुष्य को निरंतर भटकाती रहती हैं, जिससे वह अपने वास्तविक स्वरूप को भूलकर वासनाओं के जाल में फंस जाता है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that while external enemies may be powerful, the five senses are the most formidable adversaries within. These five sensory drives, driven by their own cravings and tastes, keep the human soul dancing to the tune of desire, leading one away from spiritual awakening and into the cycle of illusion.

अर्थ: संसार की इच्छाएं और सांसारिक लहरें समुद्र की लहरों की तरह आती और जाती रहती हैं, जो अंततः विलीन हो जाती हैं। लेकिन वह साधक वास्तव में प्रशंसनीय है जो इन बाहरी लहरों के पीछे भागने के बजाय, अपनी चेतना को उलटकर स्वयं के भीतर उस अनंत आध्यात्मिक समुद्र में विलीन हो जाता है।

Meaning: The desires and fluctuations of the worldly existence are like the waves of an ocean, constantly arising and subsiding. However, the true devotee is one who does not merely watch these waves come and go, but instead turns their consciousness inward to merge completely into the primordial ocean of divine consciousness.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि इस संसार ने मनुष्य को भ्रम के जाल में फँसाकर ठग लिया है। मन अत्यंत मूढ़ और अज्ञानी है, जो सत्य को देखने में असमर्थ है। वह मन, जो वास्तव में आत्मा का प्रतिबिंब होना चाहिए था, अब सांसारिक मोह-माया और अंतहीन इच्छाओं के चौराहा (बाजार) में खो गया है और वहीं भटक रहा है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that the world has deceived the human soul through the veil of illusion. The mind, driven by profound ignorance, fails to perceive the ultimate truth. This mind, which should have been the vehicle for liberation, has instead been stolen away by the distractions of the worldly marketplace, wandering aimlessly amidst endless desires and superficial attachments.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि आध्यात्मिक अवस्था अत्यंत विचित्र और रहस्यमयी है, जिसे साधारण बुद्धि से तुरंत नहीं समझा जा सकता। जब मन का आंतरिक द्वंद्व, शोर और अशांति समाप्त हो जाती है, तब साधक उस परम शून्य या संतुलन की स्थिति में ठहर जाता है जहाँ द्वैत समाप्त हो जाता है।

Meaning: Kabir explains that the spiritual state is profoundly paradoxical and elusive, defying immediate comprehension by the rational mind. Only when the internal turbulence, mental noise, and emotional conflicts of the mind are silenced does the seeker attain a state of equilibrium and stillness, merging with the ultimate void.

अर्थ: कबीर पूछते हैं कि हे मनुष्य, तू इस सांसारिक मोह-माया में क्यों पागल है और अपनी वास्तविक चेतना क्यों खो बैठा है? मृत्यु तेरे सिर पर खड़ी है, और जब समय समाप्त हो जाता है, तो वह किसी के लिए भी प्रतीक्षा नहीं करता।

Meaning: Kabir asks, O human, why are you intoxicated by the illusions of this world and why have you lost your true awareness? Death stands poised over your head, and once the appointed hour arrives, it grants no extensions or delays to anyone.

अर्थ: साधक ने ज्ञान की प्राप्ति के बाद स्वयं को एक पक्षी की तरह स्वतंत्र महसूस किया और उच्च आध्यात्मिक अवस्थाओं की ओर उड़ान भरी। किंतु, अहंकार और सांसारिक मोह के कारण वह पुनः नीचे गिर गया और फिर से माया के जाल में फंस गया।

Meaning: The seeker, having attained a glimpse of spiritual liberation, felt like a bird soaring high into the celestial skies of consciousness. However, due to the subtle pull of ego and worldly attachment, they plummeted back down, falling once again into the clutches of Maya.

अर्थ: वह व्यक्ति जो बाहरी दिखावे और धार्मिक कर्मकांडों में डूबा है, वह गर्व से फूलकर घूमता है और दावा करता है कि वह धर्म का पालन कर रहा है। जबकि वास्तव में, वह अनजाने में करोड़ों पापों और मानसिक बोझ को अपने सिर पर ढो रहा है, क्योंकि वह जीवन के वास्तविक रहस्य और आंतरिक सत्य को पहचानने में पूरी तरह असमर्थ है।

Meaning: The individual who is immersed in outward displays and ritualistic piety wanders with a bloated sense of pride, claiming to be practicing righteousness. In reality, they carry the weight of countless spiritual errors and karmic burdens upon their head, for they remain utterly blind to the essential secret and the inner truth of existence.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि मन की अवस्थाएं अस्थिर हैं; कभी यह अत्यधिक लालची हो जाता है, कभी स्वयं को राजा की तरह अहंकारी महसूस करता है, और कभी अत्यंत दीन या रंक जैसा। यदि इस चंचल और विरोधाभासी मन को गुरु के मार्गदर्शन में स्थिर कर दिया जाए, तो साधक को बिना किसी संदेह के वास्तविक ज्ञान और परमात्मा की प्राप्ति हो जाती है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that the mind is a whirlwind of contradictions; it fluctuates between insatiable greed, the arrogance of a king, and the desperation of a pauper. He suggests that if this volatile mind can be aligned and surrendered to the guidance of a true spiritual teacher, the seeker will attain absolute truth and divine union without a shred of doubt.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि एक बार जब मन में बुराई या अविश्वास की गहरी दरार पड़ जाती है, तो वह संबंध पूरी तरह टूट जाता है। यह ठीक वैसा ही है जैसे दूध में अगर कड़वा आक (मदार) का रस मिल जाए, तो वह दूध दोबारा कभी शुद्ध नहीं हो सकता; वह पूरी तरह विषाक्त हो जाता है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that once a deep rift of malice or distrust is created within a relationship, the bond is irrevocably severed. He compares this to milk into which the bitter sap of the Aak (Calotropis) plant has fallen; once contaminated, the milk can never return to its original purity and becomes entirely toxic.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि यह मन न तो पांच इंद्रियों के नियंत्रण में है और न ही इन पांचों पर इसका कोई नियंत्रण है। यह एक ऐसी अनियंत्रित अग्नि की तरह है जो जिस दिशा में भी देखती है, वहां अपनी वासना और अशांति की लपटें फैला देता है, जिससे जीवन में केवल मानसिक क्लेश और जलन ही शेष रह जाती है।
