कबीर के दोहे (Kabir's Couplets)

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि केवल मन की इच्छाओं और चंचल विचारों के पीछे नहीं चलना चाहिए, क्योंकि मन में अनगिनत और विरोधाभासी इच्छाएं होती हैं। सच्चा साधु या ज्ञानी वही है जिसने अपने मन को पूरी तरह नियंत्रित कर लिया है और उस पर सवारी करना सीख लिया है, अर्थात वह मन का दास नहीं बल्कि स्वामी है।

Meaning: Kabir advises against blindly following the whims and fluctuating desires of the mind, as the mind harbors countless contradictory impulses. A true seeker or realized soul is one who has mastered the mind, riding it like a skilled equestrian rather than being driven by its erratic urges.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि मन न तो मोटा होता है और न ही पतला; यह पानी की तरह तरल और अनुकूलनशील है। मनुष्य जिस प्रकार के विचार अपने मन में धारण करता है और जिस भाव को पुष्ट करता है, उसका व्यक्तित्व और जीवन का अनुभव ठीक वैसा ही बन जाता है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that the mind possesses no fixed thickness or thinness; rather, it is fluid like water. Whatever thoughts a person harbors and whatever intentions they cultivate within their consciousness, their entire existence and character eventually mold themselves into that very shape.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि यह मन एक चंचल बंदर की तरह हो गया है, जो एक क्षण के लिए भी एक स्थान पर नहीं टिकता। जब तक इसे 'राम नाम' (परमात्मा के स्मरण) की रस्सी से नहीं बांधा जाता, यह अपनी इच्छा अनुसार कहीं भी भटकता रहता है और शांति नहीं पाता।

Meaning: Kabir observes that the human mind has become like a restless monkey, refusing to remain still for even a single moment. Unless it is tethered by the steady rope of 'Ram Naam' (divine remembrance), it wanders aimlessly wherever its whims lead, forever escaping the center of peace.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि हमने अपना पूरा जीवन केवल दूसरों की बातें सुनने और बाहरी शोर में बिता दिया, लेकिन अपने मन की उलझनों को कभी सुलझाया नहीं। हम आज भी उसी अज्ञानता की स्थिति में हैं जहाँ से हमने शुरुआत की थी; हमारी आध्यात्मिक यात्रा अभी वास्तव में शुरू ही नहीं हुई है।

Meaning: Kabir observes that we have spent our entire lives listening to the external world and the noise of others, yet the tangled knots of the mind remain unraveled. He warns that despite the passage of time, we remain devoid of true awakening, meaning we are still standing at the very first day of our spiritual ignorance.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि बाहरी दिखावे या शारीरिक प्रयासों से आध्यात्मिक उपलब्धि नहीं मिलती। यदि मन की गहराई में उतरकर साधना न की जाए, तो मनुष्य केवल सांसारिक संगति और मोह-माया के प्रभाव में रहता है, जिससे वह अंततः बाजार की वस्तु की तरह अपनी आत्मा की गरिमा खो देता है और सांसारिक वासनाओं में बिक जाता है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that spiritual realization cannot be achieved through external rituals or physical exertion. Unless one delves into the depths of the mind and heart, they remain trapped by the influence of worldly associations and attachments, eventually losing their spiritual dignity and becoming a commodity sold in the marketplace of worldly desires.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि केवल दूसरों के मतों, शास्त्रों या बाहरी उपदेशों के पीछे आँख मूँदकर नहीं चलना चाहिए, क्योंकि ऐसा करने से मनुष्य अपनी अंतरात्मा की स्वाभाविक आवाज़ और जीव की सहज प्रकृति को खो देता है। यह वैसा ही है जैसे कतवारी (बुनाई के उपकरण) का सूत गलत दिशा में उलझ जाए और पूरी संरचना ही विपरीत हो जाए।

Meaning: Kabir warns against blindly following the opinions, dogmas, or scripts of others, as doing so causes one to abandon the innate voice and natural disposition of the living soul. He likens this spiritual disorientation to a weaver's thread that becomes twisted and inverted, rendering the entire fabric flawed and contrary to its purpose.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि ईश्वर को पाने के लिए बाहरी योग साधना, गोरखपंथी तपस्या या केवल नाम जप पर्याप्त नहीं है। असली कुंजी मन के नियंत्रण में है। जो व्यक्ति अपने मन को सजगता और प्रयास से वश में कर लेता है, वह स्वयं उस परम सत्ता का अनुभव करता है और जीवन का वास्तविक सृजक बन जाता है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that external yogic practices, the asceticism of the Gorakhnath tradition, or mere ritualistic chanting are insufficient to realize the Divine. The true key lies in the mastery of the mind. He who disciplines the mind with conscious effort and vigilance becomes the embodiment of the Divine will and the true architect of their own spiritual liberation.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि मेरा मन अब उस निराकार परमात्मा के चरणों की ओर प्रस्थान कर चुका है, और वह सांसारिक मोह-माया के बंधनों से पूरी तरह मुक्त हो गया है। मैंने उस असीम, सीमाहीन शून्य (बेहद) में अपना स्थायी निवास बना लिया है, जहाँ समय और मृत्यु का कोई प्रभाव नहीं है; अब काल का भय पूरी तरह समाप्त हो गया है।

Meaning: Kabir declares that his mind has finally journeyed toward the feet of the Formless Divine, breaking free from the shackles of worldly attachment and illusion. He has established his eternal abode within the Boundless Infinite (Behad), where the constraints of time and the dread of mortality no longer hold any power over his liberated soul.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि जिस प्रकार समुद्र की लहरें निरंतर उठती और गिरती रहती हैं, उसी प्रकार मनुष्य का मन भी विचारों और इच्छाओं के भंवर में अस्थिर रहता है। लेकिन जब यह चंचल मन अंततः स्थिर होकर अपने केंद्र पर टिक जाता है, तब सहजता से ज्ञान रूपी हीरा प्रकट होता है।

Meaning: Kabir observes that just as the ocean is characterized by endless, undulating waves, the human mind is plagued by constant fluctuations of desire and thought. However, when this restless mind finally finds its center and attains stillness, the diamond of spiritual enlightenment emerges naturally and effortlessly.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि आत्मा एक ऐसे पक्षी के समान है जिसके भौतिक पंख नहीं हैं, फिर भी वह ब्रह्मांड के किसी भी कोने में विचरण कर सकती है। जब मन की वासनाएँ शांत होती हैं और प्रेम जागृत होता है, तब वह परमात्मा को प्राप्त कर लेता है और अंततः अपने ही भीतर स्थित उस अनंत चेतना में विलीन हो जाता है।

Meaning: Kabir describes the soul as a wingless bird that possesses the innate ability to traverse any distance in the cosmos. When the mind transcends worldly desires and aligns with divine love, the seeker finds the Ultimate Truth, eventually merging into the vast consciousness residing within their own heart.
