धैर्य (Patience) — Kabir Dohas

अर्थ: हे पागल मनुष्य, अत्यधिक हठ या अहंकारपूर्ण जिद मत कर, क्योंकि जिद से किसी समस्या का समाधान नहीं होता। जिस प्रकार एक छोटा सा कपड़ा (कामरी) जैसे-जैसे पानी में भीगता जाता है, वह उतना ही भारी और बोझिल होता जाता है, वैसे ही अहंकार और जिद मनुष्य के आध्यात्मिक मार्ग को कठिन बना देते हैं।

Meaning: O foolish soul, do not cling to stubbornness or rigid ego, for truth is never attained through force. Just as a small piece of cloth becomes increasingly heavy and cumbersome as it absorbs more water, so does the heart become burdened and stagnant when it clings to the rigidity of 'I am right'.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि दुष्ट लोगों के कठोर और कड़वे शब्द एक संत या आत्म-साक्षात्कारी व्यक्ति को विचलित नहीं कर सकते। जिस प्रकार विशाल समुद्र में गिरने वाली बिजली की कड़क उसे जला नहीं सकती या उसका अस्तित्व समाप्त नहीं कर सकती, उसी प्रकार एक स्थिर मन वाला व्यक्ति बाहरी आलोचनाओं से अप्रभावित रहता है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that the harsh and piercing words of malicious people cannot unsettle a saint or a self-realized soul. Just as a bolt of lightning striking the vast ocean cannot burn it or diminish its essence, a person with a steady, centered mind remains untouched by external criticisms and verbal assaults.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि जो व्यक्ति आध्यात्मिक मार्ग पर चलने का साहस करता है और उस यात्रा में गिर जाता है या असफल होता है, वह दोषी नहीं है। असली उपहास और दोष उस व्यक्ति का है जो डर के मारे कभी चला ही नहीं और केवल किनारे बैठकर दूसरों की आलोचना करता रहा।

अर्थ: कबीर दास जी कहते हैं कि जीवन में सब कुछ कठिन परिश्रम और धैर्य के मेल से ही संभव होता है। जिस प्रकार एक शुष्क भूमि पर गहरा कुआँ खोदने के कठिन श्रम के बाद ही जल प्रकट होता है, उसी प्रकार आध्यात्मिक और भौतिक सफलता केवल निरंतर प्रयास और मानसिक स्थिरता से प्राप्त होती है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that all achievements in life are the result of diligent effort coupled with unwavering patience. Just as water emerges from a parched land only after the arduous labor of digging a deep well, spiritual and material fulfillment manifests only through persistent striving and a steady, composed mind.

अर्थ: हे मन, अपने भाग्य के वास्तविक स्वरूप को भूलकर भ्रम में मत पड़। जो प्रारब्ध या आध्यात्मिक नियति तेरे जीवन में आई है, वह टलने वाली नहीं है। अतः संदेह और दुविधा को त्याग कर उस परम सत्य को स्वीकार कर और निश्चिंत हो जा।

Meaning: O mind, do not forget the true nature of your destiny or wander in delusion. That which has arrived as your karmic allotment or spiritual fate cannot be avoided or erased. Therefore, abandon all doubts and uncertainties, and embrace the certainty of the Divine will.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि यह संसार एक ऐसे विशाल समुद्र की तरह है जो विषैले जल (सांसारिक मोह-माया और विकारों) से भरा हुआ है। इस अशांत सागर में मन अपनी स्थिरता और धैर्य खो देता है। केवल वही व्यक्ति इस भवसागर से पार उतर सकता है जिसने ईश्वर के प्रति अटूट, शक्तिशाली और निस्वार्थ प्रेम विकसित कर लिया हो।

Meaning: Kabir describes the worldly existence as a vast ocean filled with poisonous waters, symbolizing the toxins of attachment, ego, and illusion. In this turbulent sea, the mind struggles to maintain patience and stability. Only those possessed of a powerful, unwavering, and selfless love for the Divine can successfully navigate and cross over to the shore of liberation.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि अपनी आध्यात्मिक उपलब्धियों और गहरे आंतरिक रहस्यों को ऐसे लोगों के सामने प्रकट नहीं करना चाहिए जो उनकी कद्र नहीं जानते। जैसे किसी गधे के बाजार में हीरा दिखाना व्यर्थ है, वैसे ही अज्ञानी के सामने ज्ञान की चर्चा निरर्थक है। धैर्य रखें और अपनी आंतरिक यात्रा पर केंद्रित रहें।

Meaning: Kabir advises against revealing one's spiritual treasures or profound inner realizations in the company of those who lack the capacity to understand them. Just as showcasing a diamond in a market of donkeys is futile, sharing sacred truths with the ignorant is pointless. One should maintain inner silence and patiently await the divine timing of their own journey.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि विरह की यह लंबी और कष्टदायक रात अब समाप्त होने वाली है। धैर्य बनाए रखें और व्याकुल न हों, क्योंकि समय का पहिया निरंतर चल रहा है। जैसे-जैसे रात के पहर बीतते हैं, सूर्योदय निश्चित है, और उसी प्रकार आध्यात्मिक अंधकार के बाद ज्ञान का प्रकाश अवश्य प्रकट होगा।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that the long, agonizing night of separation is nearing its end. He urges the seeker to remain steady and not succumb to despair, for time is relentless. Just as the passing of the night's watches inevitably leads to the dawn, the darkness of spiritual ignorance will soon be dispelled by the rising sun of divine realization.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि जिस प्रकार एक विशाल वृक्ष को फल देने में लंबा समय लगता है और वह पूरे बारह महीने धैर्यपूर्वक प्रतीक्षा करता है, उसी प्रकार आध्यात्मिक पूर्णता और सत्य का अनुभव प्राप्त करने के लिए साधक को धैर्य रखना चाहिए। वृक्ष अपनी शीतल छाया और मीठे फलों से पक्षियों और राहगीरों को सुख देता है, ठीक वैसे ही एक परिपक्व आत्मा अपनी स्थिरता से संसार को शांति प्रदान करती है।

Meaning: Kabir explains that just as a great tree takes a long time to bear fruit and remains steadfast through all twelve months of the year, a spiritual seeker must exercise profound patience to attain ultimate truth. The tree provides cool shade and sweet fruits for birds and travelers alike; similarly, a spiritually matured soul offers peace and solace to the world through their inner stability and endurance.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि यदि बेल (पौधा) कड़वी है, तो उसके फल भी अनिवार्य रूप से कड़वे ही होंगे। यदि आप जीवन में मीठे और आध्यात्मिक फल प्राप्त करना चाहते हैं, तो पहले अपनी आंतरिक प्रकृति और संस्कारों की बेल को प्रेम और विनम्रता के साथ सींचकर मधुर बनाना होगा।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that if the vine is bitter, the fruit it bears will inevitably be bitter. To attain the sweet fruits of spiritual liberation and divine union, one must first transform the very nature of their inner being, nurturing the vine of the soul with love and humility.
