धैर्य (Patience) — Kabir Dohas

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि प्रेम की पीड़ा एक ऐसी अग्नि है जो आत्मा को पकाकर परिपक्व करती है। जिस प्रकार कच्ची सरसों को जब तक कूटा या पीसा नहीं जाता, तब तक उससे तेल नहीं निकलता, उसी प्रकार बिना विरह और कष्ट के हृदय से अहंकार का तेल नहीं निकलता और शुद्ध प्रेम प्रकट नहीं होता।

Meaning: Kabir explains that the pain of divine love is a transformative fire that ripens the soul. Just as oil cannot be extracted from raw mustard seeds unless they are crushed and pressed, the essence of pure love and spiritual realization cannot emerge from the heart unless it is processed through the agony of longing and the crushing of the ego.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि धर्म का वास्तविक प्रतीक बाहरी दिखावा नहीं, बल्कि धैर्य है। जो व्यक्ति संतोषी होता है, वही वास्तविक सुख का अनुभव करता है, और निस्वार्थ सेवा करने वाला व्यक्ति ही वास्तव में बुद्धिमान और ज्ञानी कहलाता है।

अर्थ: यह दोहा सिखाता है कि धर्म का वास्तविक ध्वज या प्रतीक बाहरी आडंबर नहीं, बल्कि धैर्य और संतोष है। जो व्यक्ति धैर्यवान होता है और संतोष को अपना आधार बनाता है, वही वास्तविक सुख प्राप्त करता है और ईश्वर का सच्चा सेवक तथा ज्ञानी कहलाता है।

Meaning: This couplet teaches that the true banner of righteousness is not found in external rituals, but in patience and contentment. One who possesses steadfast patience and embraces contentment as their foundation attains genuine bliss and is recognized as a truly wise servant of the Divine.

अर्थ: साधक सुख और दुख दोनों को समान रूप से स्वीकार करता है और अपनी आध्यात्मिक यात्रा में विचलित नहीं होता। वह बाहरी दुनिया के किसी भी अन्य प्रभाव या मोह-माया के रंग में नहीं रंगता, क्योंकि वह पूरी तरह से सतगुरु के ज्ञान और दिव्य प्रेम के रंग में रंगा हुआ है।

Meaning: The seeker endures both pleasure and pain with equanimity, never abandoning the path of spiritual discipline. They remain untouched by the fleeting colors of worldly attachments or external influences, for they are completely permeated by the eternal hue of the True Guru's wisdom and divine love.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि भादों के महीने की नदी की तरह, जब भावनाएं उफान पर होती हैं, तो भक्ति का प्रदर्शन करना आसान होता है। लेकिन वास्तविक और प्रशंसनीय भक्ति वह है जो जेठ की तपती गर्मी जैसी कठिन परिस्थितियों में भी स्थिर, शांत और अडिग रहे।

Meaning: Kabir explains that devotion fueled by emotional surges is like a river in the month of Bhadon (monsoon)—loud and overflowing, yet common. True, commendable devotion is that which remains steady, deep, and unwavering even during the scorching heat of Jeth (summer), symbolizing the most difficult trials of life.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि ईश्वर या अपने प्रियतम (परमात्मा) का वास्तविक सुख पाने के लिए साधक को प्रेम के आभूषण पहनने चाहिए, धैर्य का काजल लगाना चाहिए और शील (सदाचार) का सिंदूर धारण करना चाहिए। जब आंतरिक शुद्धि और धैर्य का संगम होता है, तभी आत्मा का मिलन परमात्मा से संभव है।

Meaning: Kabir suggests that to experience the true bliss of the Beloved (the Divine), a seeker must adorn themselves with the ornaments of love, apply the kohl of patience, and wear the vermilion of virtuous conduct. Only when inner purity and steadfast patience converge can the soul achieve union with the Supreme Consciousness.

अर्थ: बिना प्रेम के धैर्य नहीं आता और बिना विरह की तड़प के वैराग्य पैदा नहीं होता। इसी प्रकार, बिना एक सच्चे सद्गुरु के मार्गदर्शन के, मन के गहरे संस्कारों और वासनाओं के दाग कभी मिट नहीं सकते। यह दोहा आध्यात्मिक शुद्धि के लिए प्रेम, पीड़ा और गुरु की अनिवार्यता को दर्शाता है।

Meaning: Without love, there is no patience; without the agony of separation, there is no true detachment. Similarly, without the guidance of a True Guru, the deep-seated stains of desire and mental impressions cannot be erased. This couplet emphasizes that love, longing, and a spiritual guide are essential for the purification of the soul.

अर्थ: कबीर दास जी कहते हैं कि शारीरिक कष्ट सहना सरल है; आग की तपिश को सहना या तलवार की धार का सामना करना आसान है। परंतु किसी के साथ प्रेम और स्नेह के संबंध को निरंतर एक समान भाव और मिठास के साथ निभाना संसार का सबसे कठिन कार्य है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that enduring physical agony is relatively simple; one can bear the searing heat of fire or the sharp edge of a sword. However, maintaining a relationship of love and affection with consistent purity and unwavering devotion is the most arduous task in human existence.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि जो प्रेम क्षण भर में बढ़ता है और अगले ही पल घट जाता है, वह वास्तविक प्रेम नहीं बल्कि एक मानसिक लहर है। सच्चा प्रेम वह है जो आत्मा के गहरे केंद्र में, शरीर रूपी पिंजरे के भीतर, एक अडिग और निरंतर प्रवाह की तरह स्थित रहता है।
