संतोष (Contentment) — Kabir Dohas

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि जो व्यक्ति दूसरों से आध्यात्मिक ज्ञान, कृपा या भौतिक सहायता की भीख माँगने निकलता है, वह वास्तव में अपनी आत्मा की जीवंतता को खो देता है। माँगने की क्रिया ही अहंकार का प्रमाण है, और जो दूसरों पर निर्भर है, वह आंतरिक रूप से मृत समान है क्योंकि उसने अपनी स्वयं की ईश्वरीय शक्ति को भुला दिया है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that those who venture out to beg—whether for spiritual grace, knowledge, or material sustenance—are effectively killing their own spirit. The act of begging is a testament to a perceived lack, and he who depends on another is spiritually dead, having forgotten the innate divine power residing within their own soul.

अर्थ: ईश्वर के दरबार में किसी भी चीज़ की कोई कमी नहीं है; वहाँ अनंत प्रचुरता है। फिर भी मनुष्य उस आनंद और शांति का अनुभव नहीं कर पाता, क्योंकि वह अपनी सांसारिक जिम्मेदारियों, अहंकार और मायावी मोह-माया की चाकरी में उलझा हुआ है, जिससे वह वास्तविक सत्य को पहचानने में चूक कर देता है।

Meaning: In the court of the Divine Master, there is no lack of anything; everything is abundant and infinite. Yet, the human soul fails to experience this bliss and liberation because it remains entangled in the 'service' of worldly illusions and egoic attachments, missing the mark of true spiritual realization.

अर्थ: यह दोहा सिखाता है कि धर्म का वास्तविक ध्वज या प्रतीक बाहरी आडंबर नहीं, बल्कि धैर्य और संतोष है। जो व्यक्ति धैर्यवान होता है और संतोष को अपना आधार बनाता है, वही वास्तविक सुख प्राप्त करता है और ईश्वर का सच्चा सेवक तथा ज्ञानी कहलाता है।

Meaning: This couplet teaches that the true banner of righteousness is not found in external rituals, but in patience and contentment. One who possesses steadfast patience and embraces contentment as their foundation attains genuine bliss and is recognized as a truly wise servant of the Divine.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि सच्ची भक्ति केवल उस व्यक्ति की संभव है जो निष्पक्ष है। वास्तविक ज्ञान केवल उसे प्राप्त होता है जो मोह से मुक्त है। मुक्ति का मार्ग द्वंद्वों (सुख-दुख, लाभ-हानि) से परे जाने में है, और जो लोभ से पूरी तरह मुक्त है, वही वास्तव में निर्वाण या परम शांति को प्राप्त करता है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that true devotion belongs to the impartial. Genuine knowledge is reserved for the one devoid of attachment. Liberation is attained by transcending dualities—such as pleasure and pain—and only those who have completely eradicated greed can achieve Nirvana, the ultimate state of spiritual liberation and peace.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि यदि कोई व्यक्ति सच्चे मन और पूर्ण जागरूकता के साथ थोड़ा सा भी सुमिरन (ईश्वर का स्मरण) कर ले, तो उसे अपार सुख की प्राप्ति होती है। जैसे हल्दी में फिटकरी मिलाने से रंग गहरा और पक्का हो जाता है, वैसे ही शुद्ध भक्ति से आत्मा का रंग निखर जाता है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that if one engages in remembrance (Sumiran) with true sincerity and awareness, even a small amount brings immense peace. Just as alum (phitkari) fixes the color of turmeric (hardi) to make it vivid and permanent, genuine devotion purifies and stabilizes the soul's divine hue.

अर्थ: यदि नाव में पानी भर जाए या घर में धन की अधिकता हो जाए, तो दोनों ही स्थितियों में उसे बाहर निकालना ही बुद्धिमानी है। जिस प्रकार नाव को डूबने से बचाने के लिए पानी निकालना आवश्यक है, उसी प्रकार आध्यात्मिक उन्नति के लिए अत्यधिक भौतिक मोह का त्याग करना अनिवार्य है।

Meaning: If water enters a boat or wealth accumulates excessively in a home, the wise course of action is to cast both out. Just as water must be drained to prevent a boat from sinking, the clinging to material abundance must be shed to prevent the soul from drowning in worldly illusion.

अर्थ: सच्चे संत सदैव संतोषी होते हैं और वे शब्दों के पीछे छिपे गहरे आध्यात्मिक रहस्यों और भेदों का विचार करते हैं। सद्गुरु की कृपा और प्रभाव से, उनके भीतर एक स्वाभाविक विनम्रता और सरल स्वभाव विकसित होता है, जो उनके ज्ञान का वास्तविक सार है।

Meaning: True saints remain eternally content and contemplate the profound distinctions and hidden mysteries within the Sacred Word. Through the transformative grace and radiance of the Satguru, they attain a natural humility and a gentle disposition, which constitutes the very essence of their spiritual realization.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि अपनी आध्यात्मिक अभिलाषा और सत्य की खोज को कभी मत छोड़ो, क्योंकि तुम्हारी मेहनत और साधना व्यर्थ नहीं जाएगी। जिस प्रकार पानी में घुला हुआ घी अदृश्य हो सकता है, लेकिन वह वहां मौजूद रहता है, वैसे ही सत्य छिपा हो सकता है, पर वह अंततः प्रकट होगा क्योंकि बिना रस के जीवन सूखा और नीरस है जिसे कोई स्वीकार नहीं करता।

Meaning: Kabir urges the seeker not to abandon their spiritual aspirations or the quest for Truth, for no sincere effort is ever wasted. Just as clarified butter (ghee) may be hidden within water, remaining unseen yet present, the Divine Truth may seem concealed, but it will eventually manifest because a life devoid of spiritual essence is like dry food—unpalatable and devoid of sustenance.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि बाहरी दिखावे और कर्मकांडों में बहुत अधिक धन व्यय करने की आवश्यकता नहीं है। व्यक्ति को अपने मन के भीतर विचार करना चाहिए कि कैसे एक ही संसाधन का उपयोग कर वह किसी भूखे या संत की सेवा कर सकता है, जबकि दूसरा हिस्सा व्यर्थ के आडंबरों में राख की तरह नष्ट हो जाता है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that there is no need for extravagant spending on external rituals or superficial displays of piety. One must introspect and realize that while a small portion of one's resources can satisfy a seeker or the needy, the rest is often wasted on hollow ceremonies, effectively turning precious effort into useless ash.

अर्थ: कबीर दास जी कहते हैं कि आठों सिद्धियाँ और नौ निधियाँ, जो सांसारिक और आध्यात्मिक उपलब्धियों के शिखर माने जाते हैं, वास्तव में मोह और आसक्ति का ही एक विस्तृत जाल हैं। वास्तविक ज्ञान और मुक्ति केवल मोह की इस तीव्र इच्छा और वासना के त्याग से ही संभव है।
