Meaning: Kabir warns of an inevitable day of reckoning—death—that will sever all earthly ties for everyone. Regardless of one's status as a king, a noble, or a sovereign ruler, no amount of power or prestige can provide sanctuary or caution against the absolute certainty of separation from the material world.

Meaning: Kabir reflects that he entered this world only to find himself entangled in the myriad forms of duality, distinctions, and worldly illusions. However, upon encountering the gaze of a true enlightened saint, he was struck by an unparalleled, divine vision that dissolved all misconceptions and revealed the singular, absolute truth.

Meaning: Kabir asserts that the act of begging or pleading for external sustenance—whether material or spiritual—is akin to spiritual death. It reinforces the ego's sense of lack and binds the soul to dependency. Very few are able to escape this cycle of craving. He prays to the Divine (Raghunath) not to let him fall into the trap of asking, for true devotion resides in self-reliance and the realization of inner wholeness.

Meaning: Kabir asserts that the company of a true seeker or an enlightened soul is never fruitless. Just as a simple piece of wood, by remaining in the proximity of sandalwood, begins to absorb its fragrance and essence, the association with a realized being transforms the very core of a human's existence.

Meaning: The celestial drum of the void has sounded, echoing in the ears of those who destroy the ego. This is the clarion call of spiritual awakening. The brave seekers of Truth perceive this sound as an invitation to liberation and rejoice, whereas the cowards, shackled by attachment and fear, are overwhelmed by the intensity of this truth and perish in their own delusions.

Meaning: Kabir asserts that a coward has no place in the battlefield of courage. While the timid flee by turning their backs when faced with adversity, the true warrior stands firm and engages in the struggle, facing the conflict head-on without hesitation.

Meaning: A true warrior, upon entering the battlefield of life, never retreats nor turns back. He advances with unwavering resolve; those who follow behind see only his back, for the warrior's face is forever fixed upon the ultimate goal, invisible to those who hesitate.

Meaning: If you have claimed the title of a 'brave warrior' for yourself, why do you now succumb to fear? The true mark of a hero is to remain steadfast in the open field of battle, facing the arrows of adversity head-on without flinching.

Meaning: Kabir asserts that a true warrior is not one who adorns themselves with iron armor or wields metallic weapons, but one who has relinquished the attachment to the physical body and material world. The real braveheart is the one who fights by breaking all internal shackles and shedding the illusion of bodily identity.

Meaning: Kabir asserts that those who indulge in the consumption of meat and fish and harbor a deep affection for intoxicants surrender themselves to base instincts. Such a tamasic existence leads the individual toward spiritual degradation and a hellish state of consciousness, dragging the spiritual merit of their lineage and parents down with them through the weight of shared karmic bondage.
