Meaning: Kabir observes that while everyone claims to have renounced Maya (worldly illusion), in reality, it is nearly impossible to fully detach from it. Those who boast of having conquered Maya are eventually humbled by the harsh realities of life, receiving 'slaps' from experience that expose their spiritual arrogance and ignorance.

Meaning: Kabir asserts that there is no enchantress more potent than the mind to lure us into illusion, and no thief more cunning than the mind to steal our spiritual awareness. Only a true devotee of the Divine (Harijan) possesses the discernment to perceive the absolute truth; beyond such a realized soul, no one is capable of seeing through the veil of deception.

Meaning: Who in this world is truly awake? The endless cycle of worldly pursuits and desires never reaches a final conclusion; they are an infinite loop of dissatisfaction. Only the chanting and realization of the Divine Name—the primordial vibration of existence—is the true path that aligns a soul with the ultimate spiritual purpose and eternal liberation.

Meaning: Kabir asserts that this world is entwined in the deceptive web of illusion (Maya) and emotional attachment (Moh). Only the one who conquers these worldly bonds and transcends the craving for material existence can truly escape the cycle of suffering and attain an enduring state of spiritual liberation.

Meaning: Kabir asserts that this worldly existence is an ancient, recurring cycle, akin to a vast and treacherous ocean. Within this expanse, the human soul is like a small creature—a 'jambuk'—driven by instinct and illusion, perpetually struggling against the currents of Maya, only to be eventually pulled back into the earth, oblivious to its eternal nature.

Meaning: When the dawn of true divine love arrives, the walls of illusion and ignorance crumble. The veil of Maya, which obscures the truth, is swept away, and the soul enters into a profound, eternal union with the Divine Name, leading to ultimate liberation.

Meaning: The one who has completely renounced the illusions of Maya and the attachments of the material world has seen their ego dissolve entirely. For such a person, all forms of suffering vanish and flee, as they have aligned themselves with the ultimate, unchanging Truth.

Meaning: Kabir suggests that it is far more beneficial to accept the guidance of a realized soul (Saadhu) than to engage in futile arguments with those who are averse to truth or blinded by ego. He warns that debating with the ignorant leads to two outcomes: either the conversation remains stagnant and fruitless, or a third party exploits the conflict to cause further harm to the seeker.

Meaning: Kabir suggests that one should possess a discernment (Buddhi) so refined that it allows a person to navigate the complexities of life with grace. By knowing when to engage and when to withdraw, and by acting with selfless wisdom, one avoids unnecessary conflict and removes the burden of spiritual and worldly calamities from their head.

Meaning: Kabir observes that people instinctively pursue the sweetness of worldly pleasures, unaware that such attachments are like poison that leads to inevitable suffering. Conversely, the path of truth and self-realization is as bitter as neem, causing most to shun it, yet it is the only remedy capable of curing all spiritual and psychological ailments.
