अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि जब एक अंधा व्यक्ति कुएँ में गिर जाता है और सहायता के लिए दूसरे अंधे व्यक्ति को बुलाता है, तो अंततः दोनों ही विनाश की ओर बढ़ते हैं। यह दोहा अज्ञानता के प्रभाव और गलत मार्गदर्शन के खतरों को दर्शाता है, जहाँ बिना वास्तविक ज्ञान के कोई भी व्यक्ति दूसरे का उद्धार नहीं कर सकता।

Meaning: Kabir describes a tragic scenario where a blind man, having fallen into a well, calls upon another blind man for rescue. Consequently, both perish in the depths. This serves as a stark metaphor for the dangers of spiritual ignorance, illustrating that one who lacks true enlightenment cannot lead another out of the darkness of existence.

अर्थ: इस दोहे में कबीर एक व्यंग्यात्मक स्थिति का वर्णन कर रहे हैं जहाँ शिष्य और गुरु के बीच का सामंजस्य पूरी तरह समाप्त हो चुका है। गुरु घाट पर है, जबकि शिष्य बाजार (हाँटू) में बैठा है। शाम को शिष्य ने अपना सिर मुड़वाया (संन्यास या दिखावा किया), लेकिन सुबह होते ही गुरु उसे धकेल कर बाहर निकाल देते हैं, क्योंकि उसका ज्ञान केवल बाहरी दिखावा था, आंतरिक रूपांतरण नहीं।

Meaning: In this couplet, Kabir employs a sharp irony to describe a fractured relationship between a teacher and a disciple. The Guru remains at the spiritual riverbank (ghat), while the disciple lingers in the marketplace (haantu). The disciple performs a superficial act of renunciation by shaving his head in the evening, but by morning, the Guru casts him out, recognizing that the gesture was a mere facade devoid of genuine internal transformation.

Meaning: Kabir asserts that there are many types of teachers and varying perceptions of gurus. However, the only guru truly worthy of eternal reverence is the one who reveals the 'Shabd'—the primordial sound or divine word—and discloses the strategic path to transcend the illusions of existence.

अर्थ: यदि किसी गुरु के सानिध्य में रहकर भी शिष्य के मन का भ्रम और अज्ञान समाप्त नहीं होता, तो ऐसा गुरु वास्तव में झूठा और अयोग्य है। ऐसे गुरु का साथ तुरंत छोड़ देना चाहिए क्योंकि वह केवल समय की बर्बादी है और आध्यात्मिक प्रगति में बाधक है।

Meaning: If a disciple's delusions and misconceptions do not vanish under the guidance of a teacher, then that teacher is fraudulent and unworthy. One should abandon such a guide without delay, as they serve only as an obstacle to spiritual awakening and a waste of precious human life.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि साधक को अपने जीवन में ऐसी अवस्था प्राप्त करनी चाहिए जहाँ लोभ, मोह और भ्रम का पूर्ण अभाव हो। वह संसार रूपी सागर में रहते हुए भी उससे पूरी तरह अलिप्त रहे, ठीक वैसे ही जैसे पानी में रहने वाला कमल का पत्ता पानी में तो होता है, परंतु उससे भीगता नहीं है।

Meaning: Kabir urges the seeker to cultivate a state of existence entirely devoid of greed, attachment, and delusion. One should live within the world—likened to a vast ocean—yet remain fundamentally separate and untouched by its currents, mirroring the lotus leaf that resides in water but never absorbs its moisture.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि बाहरी कर्मकांडों और तीर्थों को छोड़कर अपने भीतर के घर को लौट आओ और वास्तविक ज्ञान की दीक्षा लो। यह जीवन एक जुए के खेल जैसा है जहाँ मनुष्य अपनी देह और अहंकार को दांव पर लगाकर यह देखता है कि वह संसार के मोह में डूब जाएगा या आध्यात्मिक जागृति के साथ पार उतर जाएगा।

Meaning: Kabir urges the seeker to cease wandering in external rituals and pilgrimages, returning instead to the 'home' of the inner self to receive true initiation. He describes human existence as a high-stakes gamble where the physical body and ego are the stakes; the ultimate question is whether one will drown in the illusions of the world or emerge liberated through spiritual awakening.

Meaning: Kabir critiques hypocritical teachers who have turned spiritual guidance into a commercial transaction. He asserts that when a teacher is oblivious to their own inner state and the reality of their own existence, their attempt to initiate disciples is a farce. Such 'wisdom' is cheapened, sold for pennies, lacking any true spiritual authority or authenticity.

अर्थ: जब आत्मा का परमात्मा से मिलन हो जाता है, तब मनुष्य को वास्तविक ज्ञान प्राप्त होता है। इस अवस्था में सांसारिक मोह और शरीर के कष्ट समाप्त हो जाते हैं। जब व्यक्ति सुख और दुख के द्वंद्व से ऊपर उठ जाता है और मन विचलित नहीं होता, तब वह स्वयं ही अपना गुरु बन जाता है क्योंकि सत्य उसके भीतर प्रकट हो चुका होता है।

Meaning: Realize the truth only when the union with the Divine is achieved and the fever of worldly attachment vanishes. When the fluctuations of joy and sorrow no longer grip the soul, and the mind remains undisturbed by external extremes, the individual becomes their own teacher, for the inner light of consciousness has awakened.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि जब मनुष्य का हृदय अहंकार और अज्ञानता के कारण पत्थर जैसा कठोर हो जाता है, तो वह आध्यात्मिक सत्य के प्रति पूरी तरह उदासीन हो जाता है। चाहे उसे ज्ञान की कितनी ही नदियाँ क्यों न मिलें या भक्ति का कितना भी जल उसे भिगोए, उसके भीतर कोई परिवर्तन नहीं आता; वह पूरी तरह शुष्क और संवेदनहीन बना रहता है।

Meaning: Kabir laments the plight of a soul whose heart has become as hard as stone due to ego and ignorance. He suggests that when the heart is devoid of softness and openness, even the most profound spiritual currents and the vast oceans of divine grace cannot penetrate it; the stone remains dry and untouched regardless of the surrounding water.
