कबीर के दोहे (Kabir's Couplets)

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि यदि मैं सत्य को स्पष्ट रूप से प्रकट करूँ, तो दुनिया मुझे मारने दौड़ती है, क्योंकि लोग सत्य को सहन नहीं कर सकते। लेकिन यदि मैं इसे गुप्त रखूँ, तो कोई इसे देख नहीं पाता। यह सत्य उस गुप्त खजाने की तरह है जो भीतर छिपा है; यदि इसे सही तरीके से समझा जाए, तो कोई शत्रु नहीं रहता।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that if he reveals the ultimate truth openly, the world reacts with violence because the ego cannot endure the mirror of truth. Yet, if kept hidden, the truth remains unnoticed. He compares this spiritual realization to a hidden treasure; once the inner secret is understood, the concept of an 'enemy' vanishes entirely.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि प्रारंभ में परमात्मा एक ही था, लेकिन अज्ञानता और माया के कारण वह अनेक रूपों और द्वैत में विभाजित हो गया। जब इस बाहरी दिखावे और अहंकार की कसौटी पर सत्य को परखा गया, तो वह टिक नहीं पाया, और अंततः केवल शुद्ध आत्मा या परमपिता का सत्य ही शेष रहा।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that in the beginning, the Divine was One, but through the lens of ignorance and Maya, it appeared fragmented into twelve different directions or forms. When these superficial manifestations were tested on the touchstone of truth, they crumbled, leaving only the primordial essence of the Father/Absolute as the ultimate realization.

अर्थ: मनुष्य की जिह्वा अत्यंत चंचल है, जो निरंतर व्यर्थ और कठोर शब्दों का उच्चारण करती रहती है। इस वाणी के वशीकरण में मन भी भ्रमित होकर भटकता रहता है, और अनजाने में व्यक्ति स्वयं को समय के विनाशकारी चक्र या मृत्यु के करीब ले जाता है।

Meaning: The human tongue is restless and unstable, constantly uttering falsehoods or harsh words. Driven by this erratic speech, the mind wanders in confusion and illusion, inadvertently swinging itself toward the inevitable grip of time and spiritual decay.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि उन्होंने प्रेम रूपी वस्त्र धारण कर लिया है और अब वे उस ईश्वरीय आनंद में नृत्य कर रहे हैं। उन्होंने अपना सर्वस्व और अपना समर्पण केवल उसी को अर्पित किया है, जिसका तन और मन पूर्णतः सत्य और ईमानदारी में लीन है।

Meaning: Kabir declares that he has donned the garment of divine love and is now dancing in spiritual ecstasy. He offers his devotion and surrender only to those whose body and mind are aligned in absolute truth and sincerity, rejecting all hypocrisy.

अर्थ: कबीर यहाँ 'फहम' (समझ या अहंकारपूर्ण ज्ञान) की बात कर रहे हैं। वे कहते हैं कि मनुष्य हर दिशा में केवल अपनी बौद्धिक समझ और धारणाओं से घिरा हुआ है। जो व्यक्ति इस सीमित समझ की प्रकृति को पहचान ले और इस बौद्धिक अहंकार को पार कर जाए, वही वास्तव में सच्ची समझ या ज्ञान को प्राप्त करता है।

Meaning: Kabir speaks of 'Faham' (intellectual understanding or the egoic grasp). He asserts that a human is surrounded by their own conceptual understandings and preconceived notions in every direction. Only the one who transcends this limited intellectual grasping and understands the nature of such 'understanding' attains the true, divine realization.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि जब मनुष्य अहंकार और सांसारिक मोह-माया के जाल में फंसकर अपनी वास्तविक प्रकृति को भूल जाता है, तो वह स्वयं ही अपने दुखों का कारण बनता है। यह आंतरिक पीड़ा इतनी गहरी और व्यक्तिगत होती है कि इसे शब्दों में व्यक्त करना असंभव है; केवल वही व्यक्ति इस दर्द को समझ सकता है जिसने स्वयं इस आध्यात्मिक विस्मृति और अलगाव का अनुभव किया हो।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that when a human, driven by ego and the illusions of the material world, wanders away from their true essence, they weave their own net of suffering. This internal agony is so profound and solitary that it defies verbal expression; only one who has traversed the same path of spiritual alienation and longing can truly comprehend the depth of this pain.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि मनुष्य का शरीर तो पूर्ण रूप से निर्मित है, लेकिन यदि उसमें आध्यात्मिक विवेक या सही बुद्धि नहीं है, तो वह केवल एक पुतले या जड़ वस्तु के समान है। जिस प्रकार बिना सुगंध का फूल केवल एक दिखावा है और उसका कोई वास्तविक मूल्य नहीं होता, उसी प्रकार बिना ज्ञान और चेतना के मनुष्य का जीवन व्यर्थ है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that while the human form is perfectly crafted, a person lacking spiritual discernment or true wisdom is merely a lifeless puppet or an inert object. Just as a flower without fragrance is a mere visual facade devoid of its essential purpose and value, a human life without consciousness and inner awakening is fundamentally incomplete and meaningless.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि मैं उस दूध पर न्योछावर हूँ जिससे शुद्ध घी निकाला जाता है। इसी प्रकार, कबीर की आधी (संक्षिप्त) साखी या वाणी में उन चारों वेदों का सार और जीवन का वास्तविक तत्व समाहित है, जो सत्य की खोज करने वालों के लिए पर्याप्त है।

Meaning: Kabir expresses his profound reverence for the milk from which pure clarified butter (ghee) is extracted. Similarly, he asserts that his brief, intuitive verses contain the distilled essence of the four Vedas, providing the vital spark and ultimate truth necessary for spiritual liberation.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि मैं उस enlightened पुरुष को नमन करता हूँ जो सत्य को पहचानने की क्षमता रखता है। ईश्वर ने हमें ज्ञान रूपी चीनी (मिठास) प्रदान की है, लेकिन अज्ञानी व्यक्ति अपनी सीमित बुद्धि के कारण उसे भी कड़वा या खारा समझ लेता है।

Meaning: Kabir expresses deep reverence for the rare individual who possesses the discernment to recognize the Divine. He asserts that while the Almighty has bestowed the sweetness of spiritual truth (symbolized by sugar) upon all, the ignorant soul, blinded by ego and lack of awareness, perceives this divine grace as bitter or salty.

अर्थ: मनुष्य स्वयं को महान समझने और अहंकार में डूबा रहता है, जहाँ उसके शरीर के प्रत्येक रोम में गर्व व्याप्त है। किंतु कबीर कहते हैं कि बिना सद्गुरु के ज्ञान और कृपा के, चाहे कोई किसी भी जाति या वर्ण का हो, वह आध्यात्मिक रूप से अज्ञानी और निम्न ही रहता है।

Meaning: Man wanders in the delusion of greatness, with arrogance permeating every pore of his being. However, Kabir asserts that without the transformative grace and realization provided by a true spiritual teacher, individuals of all four social castes remain spiritually ignorant and devoid of true worth.
