अर्थ: कबीर दास जी कहते हैं कि किसी संत या ज्ञानी व्यक्ति की जाति या सामाजिक पृष्ठभूमि के बारे में पूछना व्यर्थ है; इसके बजाय उनके ज्ञान और बोध की गहराई को पहचानें। जिस प्रकार तलवार खरीदते समय उसकी धार और गुणवत्ता महत्वपूर्ण होती है, न कि उस म्यान की सुंदरता जिसमें वह रखी है, उसी प्रकार मनुष्य का मूल्य उसके आंतरिक गुणों और सत्य के अनुभव से होता है, न कि उसके जन्म या कुल से।

अर्थ: केवल एक उच्च या प्रतिष्ठित परिवार में जन्म लेने से कोई व्यक्ति महान नहीं बन जाता, यदि उसके कर्म निम्न और अनैतिक हैं। जिस प्रकार सोने के कलश में यदि शराब भरी हो, तो वह सोने की चमक के बावजूद सज्जनों और साधुओं द्वारा निंदा का पात्र ही बनता है, उसी प्रकार कुलीनता का कोई मूल्य नहीं यदि चरित्र दूषित है।

Meaning: Being born into a high or prestigious lineage does not make a person noble if their actions remain lowly and unethical. Just as a golden pot filled with liquor is despised by the wise and the holy despite its outward brilliance, a noble birth holds no value if the character is corrupted.

अर्थ: जो व्यक्ति ईश्वर के भक्तों या समाज के वंचितों (हरिजनों) से द्वेष रखता है और केवल सांसारिक मोह-माया तथा भौतिक संबंधों में लिप्त रहता है, वह कभी आध्यात्मिक रूप से विकसित नहीं हो सकता। उसकी स्थिति उस बंजर खेत की तरह है जिसे एक अकुशल किसान ने जोता हो, जहाँ कभी कोई फल या फसल नहीं उगती।

Meaning: One who harbors resentment toward the devotees of God or the marginalized, while remaining obsessively attached to worldly desires and superficial relationships, can never achieve spiritual fruition. Such a person is likened to a barren field tended by an unskilled farmer; despite the effort, no meaningful harvest of wisdom or peace ever grows there.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि एक राजा की रानी, जो अत्यंत वैभव, धन और विलासिता के बीच रहती है, वह भी उस साधारण दलित या हरिजन स्त्री के सामने तुच्छ है जो अपनी सादगी और आंतरिक पवित्रता के साथ पानी भरने जाती है। यहाँ बाहरी ऐश्वर्य की तुलना आंतरिक आध्यात्मिक गरिमा से की गई है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that a queen, surrounded by immense wealth, luxury, and royal prestige, cannot compare to a simple woman from the marginalized 'Harijan' community who goes to fetch water. The poet emphasizes that external opulence is insignificant when weighed against the innate spiritual dignity and purity of a humble soul.

अर्थ: कबीर यहाँ एक गहरे व्यंग्य का प्रयोग कर रहे हैं। वे कहते हैं कि यदि तुम स्वयं को ईश्वर का दास कहते हो, लेकिन तुम्हारा मन अभी भी सांसारिक वासनाओं और अहंकार के अधीन है, तो तुम्हारी यह दासता केवल दिखावा है। वास्तविक दास वह है जिसने अपनी इंद्रियों को जीत लिया है, न कि वह जो केवल शब्दों से भक्ति का ढोंग करता है।

Meaning: Kabir employs a sharp irony here, suggesting that claiming to be a servant of the Divine while remaining enslaved to worldly desires and ego is a contradiction. True servitude is not found in verbal declarations of devotion, but in the actual mastery over one's lower instincts and the annihilation of the false self.

Just as a crow—symbolizing impurity and ignorance—is transformed into a divine swan, the seeker sheds the narrow identities of caste, creed, and ego to realize their true, universal essence.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि वह विद्वान ब्राह्मण व्यर्थ है जो अहंकार में डूबा है और गुरु के ज्ञान को नहीं मानता, जबकि वह चमार श्रेष्ठ है जिसने गुरु के चरणों में समर्पण कर दिया है। इसी प्रकार, उन देवताओं से बेहतर वह कुत्ता है जो अपने स्वामी के प्रति निष्ठावान है और निरंतर उसकी सेवा में तत्पर रहता है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that a learned Brahmin is useless if he is blinded by arrogance and ignores the Guru's wisdom, whereas a leather-worker (Chamar) is superior if he has surrendered to the Guru's guidance. Similarly, a loyal dog that wakes its master with devotion is better than distant deities who remain indifferent to the seeker's struggle.
