अर्थ: मन निरंतर बाहरी दुनिया में, आगे-पीछे भटकता रहता है और इस उथल-पुथल में वह सहज शांति और परमात्मा का अनुभव नहीं कर पाता। जो व्यक्ति अपनी चेतना को इस बाहरी दौड़ में उलझाए रखता है, वह अंततः सांसारिक बंधनों और मृत्यु के भय (यमलोक) के अधीन हो जाता है।

Meaning: The mind relentlessly chases external desires, oscillating between the past and future, and thus fails to encounter the Divine through natural stillness. He who remains a prisoner of this external pursuit becomes a resident of the realm of death, bound by the chains of karmic attachment.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि कंकड़ और पत्थरों को जोड़कर एक मस्जिद बनाई गई है, जिस पर चढ़कर मुल्ला जोर-जोर से अजान देता है। लेकिन विडंबना यह है कि जिस ईश्वर को वह पुकार रहा है, वह बहरा हो गया है या फिर वह पुकार उस तक पहुँच ही नहीं रही क्योंकि वह ईश्वर पत्थरों की दीवारों में नहीं रहता।

Meaning: Kabir observes that a mosque has been constructed by piling up pebbles and stones. Upon this structure, the cleric climbs to call the faithful to prayer, yet Kabir ironically remarks that God must have become deaf. The essence is that the Divine cannot be confined within stone walls nor reached through loud, ritualistic shouting.

अर्थ: कबीर दास जी कहते हैं कि यह संसार पत्थर की बनी मूर्तियों की पूजा में लीन है। वे चेतावनी देते हैं कि केवल बाहरी कर्मकांडों और पाषाण प्रतिमाओं के भरोसे आध्यात्मिक मुक्ति की आशा करना व्यर्थ है; ऐसा विश्वास आपको संसार की कठिन और अंधकारमय धाराओं में डुबो देगा।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that the world is immersed in the worship of idols carved from stone. He warns that relying solely on external rituals and stone images for spiritual liberation is futile; such a misplaced faith will only lead one to drown in the dark, turbulent currents of worldly existence.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि मनुष्य का शरीर पांच भौतिक तत्वों (पृथ्वी, जल, अग्नि, वायु और आकाश) से बना एक पुतला है। हम सब केवल एक बीज और एक बूंद का परिणाम हैं। चाहे कोई ब्राह्मण हो, क्षत्रिय हो या शूद्र, सभी का मूल स्रोत एक ही है और सभी एक ही मिट्टी से गढ़े गए हैं।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that the human body is merely a vessel composed of the five primordial elements: earth, water, fire, air, and ether. Every human being is the result of a single seed and a single drop of essence. Regardless of caste—be it Brahmin, Kshatriya, or Shudra—the origin and the internal substance of all humanity are identical.

अर्थ: मनुष्य अपने मन में इस अहंकार से फूलकर घूमता है कि वह धर्म का पालन कर रहा है। जबकि वास्तव में, वह अनजाने में करोड़ों कर्मों के बंधन में बंधता जा रहा है, क्योंकि उसने धर्म के वास्तविक सार और आंतरिक रहस्य को कभी समझा ही नहीं।

Meaning: The individual wanders in a state of spiritual pride, believing they are practicing true righteousness. In reality, they accumulate millions of karmic burdens because they remain blind to the inner essence and the true secret of spiritual liberation, mistaking ritual for realization.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि मनुष्य ने बहुत कुछ पढ़ा, सुना और सीखा, लेकिन फिर भी उसके मन के संदेह और अज्ञानता की भूलें समाप्त नहीं हुईं। वे विलाप करते हुए पूछते हैं कि इस पीड़ा को किससे कहें, क्योंकि यह बौद्धिक अहंकार और अधूरा ज्ञान ही समस्त दुखों का असली कारण है।

Meaning: Kabir observes that despite extensive reading, listening, and learning, the fundamental doubts and errors of the mind remain unresolved. He laments, asking whom to turn to, as he realizes that the reliance on mere intellectual accumulation, rather than experiential realization, is the very root of all human suffering.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि लोग अक्सर मृत्यु के करीब आने पर दान-पुण्य करने लगते हैं, जबकि जीवन के दौरान उनका हृदय कठोर रहता है। वे प्रश्न करते हैं कि अंत समय में किए गए ऐसे दिखावटी दान का क्या लाभ, जब व्यक्ति ने पूरे जीवन अहंकार और अज्ञानता के शस्त्रों से दूसरों को चोट पहुँचाई हो या आध्यात्मिक चोरी की हो।

Meaning: Kabir observes that people often resort to charity and donations only when they are facing death, despite having lived a rigid and callous life. He questions the utility of such eleventh-hour piety, asking why one seeks redemption through superficial gifts after a lifetime of wielding the sword of ego or committing the theft of spiritual negligence.

अर्थ: कबीर दास जी कहते हैं कि उस पत्थर की पूजा करने का क्या लाभ जो बोल नहीं सकता और न ही कोई उत्तर दे सकता है? वह व्यक्ति वास्तव में अंधा है जो केवल बाहरी आशाओं और मृत प्रतीकों के सहारे अपनी जीवन शक्ति और समय को व्यर्थ नष्ट कर देता है।

Meaning: Kabir questions the futility of worshipping a stone that remains silent and unresponsive. He asserts that a person is spiritually blind when they cling to external rituals and inanimate idols, thereby wasting their precious life essence and spiritual potential in pursuit of a void.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि परमात्मा (राम) कहीं बाहर नहीं, बल्कि तुम्हारे अपने हृदय के भीतर निवास करते हैं। परंतु, मनुष्य अपनी आंतरिक उथल-पुथल, संदेह और मानसिक द्वंद्व के कारण उन्हें देख नहीं पाता। जब मन की यह दुविधा और भ्रम समाप्त हो जाते हैं, तब उस अंतर्यामी सत्य का साक्षात्कार होता है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that the Divine (Ram) resides not in external shrines, but within the sanctuary of your own heart. However, the human eye is blinded by internal turmoil and mental contradictions. Only when the fog of doubt and the duality of the mind dissolve can the eternal presence within be truly perceived.

अर्थ: बाहरी स्वच्छता और शारीरिक स्नान का कोई मूल्य नहीं है यदि हृदय के भीतर की अशुद्धियाँ, जैसे क्रोध, लोभ और अहंकार, समाप्त नहीं होते। जिस प्रकार मछली निरंतर जल में रहती है, फिर भी उसकी अपनी एक विशिष्ट गंध (बास) नहीं जाती, उसी प्रकार केवल जल से शरीर धोने से मन की गंदगी नहीं मिटती।

Meaning: External cleansing and physical bathing are futile if the impurities of the heart—such as anger, greed, and ego—remain untouched. Just as a fish lives perpetually in water yet retains its inherent fishy smell, merely washing the body cannot cleanse the deep-seated stains of the mind.
