अर्थ: जब तक मेरे भीतर अहंकार (मैं) मौजूद था, तब तक मुझे सच्चे गुरु का अनुभव नहीं हुआ। अब जब गुरु की कृपा और ज्ञान ने मुझे आत्मसात कर लिया है, तो मेरा अहंकार पूरी तरह मिट चुका है। प्रेम का मार्ग इतना संकरा है कि वहां अहंकार और परमात्मा (या गुरु) दोनों एक साथ नहीं रह सकते; एक का होना दूसरे के विलोपन की शर्त है।

Meaning: As long as the 'I' (the ego) existed within me, the true Guru was absent. Now that the Guru's grace and wisdom have dawned, the ego has vanished. The alley of divine love is so narrow that it cannot accommodate two entities—the ego and the Divine; for one to enter, the other must inevitably depart.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि ईश्वर का घर या प्रेम का मार्ग कोई साधारण स्थान नहीं है जहाँ कोई भी बिना किसी प्रयास के प्रवेश कर सके। यह किसी रिश्तेदार (खाला) का घर नहीं है जहाँ लाड़-प्यार और लापरवाही से स्वागत हो। यहाँ प्रवेश के लिए अहंकार का पूर्ण त्याग आवश्यक है; जब तक मनुष्य अपने 'मैं' (अहंकार) रूपी सिर को काटकर चरणों में नहीं रख देता, वह इस दिव्य प्रेम के घर में प्रवेश नहीं कर सकता।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that the abode of Divine Love is not a place of casual entry or familial indulgence. It is not the house of a maternal aunt (khala) where one is welcomed with blind affection and effortless ease. To enter this sacred space, one must undergo a radical transformation: the total surrender of the ego. Only when the 'head'—symbolizing the pride and intellectual arrogance of the self—is severed and placed at the threshold of humility can the seeker truly dwell within the house of Love.

अर्थ: साधक कहता है कि निरंतर 'तू' (ईश्वर) का स्मरण और जाप करते हुए, वह स्वयं उस परमात्मा में विलीन हो गया है। अब उसके भीतर 'मैं' या अहंकार का कोई अस्तित्व नहीं बचा है। वह अपना सर्वस्व समर्पित कर चुका है और अब उसे सृष्टि के कण-कण में केवल उसी एक परमात्मा का दर्शन होता है।

Meaning: The seeker declares that through the constant remembrance and chanting of 'Thou' (the Divine), they have eventually become one with that Divine essence. The sense of 'I' or the individual ego has completely vanished. Having surrendered everything, the seeker now perceives the Divine presence in every single direction and every element of existence.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि यदि आपने भौतिक संपदा और सांसारिक मोह-माया का त्याग कर दिया है, तो भी आपकी आध्यात्मिक यात्रा अधूरी है यदि आपने अपने भीतर के अहंकार (मान) का त्याग नहीं किया। कई बड़े तपस्वी और ज्ञानी लोग बाहरी दुनिया को छोड़ देते हैं, लेकिन उनका सूक्ष्म अहंकार उन्हें निगल जाता है और दूसरों को भी नीचा दिखाता है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that renouncing material wealth and worldly attachments is meaningless if one does not also relinquish the ego (pride). Many great ascetics and scholars abandon the physical world, yet they remain imprisoned by a subtle spiritual pride that consumes their progress and blinds them to the equality of all beings.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि वास्तविक योद्धा वह नहीं है जिसने लोहे के हथियार या कवच पहने हों, बल्कि वह है जिसने अपने शरीर और भौतिक जगत के मोह को त्याग दिया हो। सच्चा वीर वह है जो अपनी आंतरिक बेड़ियों और मानसिक बंधनों को तोड़कर आत्मा की मुक्ति के लिए संघर्ष करता है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that a true warrior is not one who adorns themselves with iron armor or wields metallic weapons, but one who has relinquished the attachment to the physical body and material world. The real braveheart is the one who fights by breaking all internal shackles and shedding the illusion of bodily identity.

अर्थ: जब मैं इस संसार में बुराई की खोज करने निकला, तो मुझे कोई भी व्यक्ति बुरा नहीं मिला। परंतु, जब मैंने अंतर्मुखी होकर अपने स्वयं के मन का विश्लेषण किया, तो पाया कि मुझसे अधिक बुरा और दोषपूर्ण कोई और नहीं है।

Meaning: When I set out to find an evil person in the world, I found no one who was truly wicked. However, when I turned my gaze inward and searched my own heart, I discovered that no one was more flawed or burdened by negativity than I was.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि वास्तविक मृत्यु वह है जिसमें मनुष्य का अहंकार समाप्त हो जाए। सांसारिक दुखों और सामाजिक प्रतिष्ठा के मोह में पड़कर बार-बार मानसिक रूप से मरना व्यर्थ है, क्योंकि वह मृत्यु मुक्ति नहीं बल्कि अंतहीन पीड़ा है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that the only death worth welcoming is the dissolution of the ego. He questions why we choose to suffer the 'death' of worldly anxieties and social pressures a hundred times a day, which offers no liberation, only repetitive agony.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि एक सच्चे साधक को अपने भीतर के अहंकार रूपी शत्रु से युद्ध करना चाहिए और उसे पूरी तरह नष्ट कर देना चाहिए। यदि हम इस आंतरिक अहंकार को नहीं मारते, तो हमें संसार के मोह-माया और दूसरों के द्वारा दिए गए मानसिक दुखों की मृत्यु दिन में सौ बार झेलनी पड़ती है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that a true seeker must engage in a spiritual battle within themselves to annihilate the ego. If one does not slay this internal pride, they are condemned to suffer the 'death' of worldly disappointments and mental anguish a hundred times a day, trapped in a cycle of perpetual emotional instability.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि पानी कभी ऊँचाई पर नहीं ठहरता, वह हमेशा ढलान की ओर बहकर नीचे ही जमा होता है। इसी प्रकार, जो व्यक्ति अहंकार का त्याग कर विनम्रता अपनाता है, वही ज्ञान और ईश्वरीय कृपा का पात्र बनता है, जबकि अहंकारी व्यक्ति प्यासा ही रह जाता है।

Meaning: Kabir observes that water never remains on a height; it always flows downward to settle in the lowlands. Similarly, only those who abandon the pride of the ego and embrace true humility become vessels for divine grace and wisdom, while the arrogant remain spiritually thirsty.

अर्थ: कबीर दास जी कहते हैं कि विनम्रता और लघुता (छोटा होने का भाव) सबसे श्रेष्ठ गुण है। जब व्यक्ति अपने अहंकार को त्यागकर स्वयं को छोटा समझता है, तो वह वास्तव में महान बन जाता है। जिस प्रकार द्वितीया की वह बारीक चंद्रमा की रेखा अत्यंत सूक्ष्म होती है, फिर भी संपूर्ण जगत उसके समक्ष नतमस्तक होता है और उसकी सुंदरता की सराहना करता है, उसी प्रकार विनम्र व्यक्ति सबका प्रिय और सम्मानित होता है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that humility—the quality of feeling oneself to be small—is the most virtuous trait of all. When a person sheds the burden of ego and embraces a sense of insignificance, they paradoxically achieve true greatness. Just as the sliver of the crescent moon on the second day of the lunar cycle is physically minute yet commands the reverence and admiration of the entire world, a humble soul attracts universal love and respect.
