समय का महत्व (Value of Time) — Kabir Dohas

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि चाहे कोई व्यापारी की तरह बैठकर हिसाब लगाए, या ग्वाला बनकर खड़ा रहे, या पहरेदार की तरह रात भर जागता रहे, मृत्यु (काल) किसी का इंतज़ार नहीं करती। वह सबको अपने जाल में पकड़ लेती है, चाहे व्यक्ति किसी भी अवस्था या पेशे में हो।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that whether one remains seated like a merchant calculating profits, stands like a cowherd tending his flock, or stays awake like a sentinel guarding the gates, Death (Kaal) eventually claims everyone. No state of alertness or social position can offer sanctuary from the inevitable end.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि मानव जीवन अत्यंत दुर्लभ और अनमोल है, क्योंकि यह बार-बार प्राप्त नहीं होता। जिस प्रकार एक पका हुआ फल जब एक बार पेड़ की डाली से टूटकर गिर जाता है, तो वह दोबारा कभी उस डाली से नहीं जुड़ सकता, उसी प्रकार यह जीवन एक बार समाप्त होने पर पुनः उसी अवस्था में नहीं मिलता।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that human birth is an exceedingly rare and precious opportunity that does not recur easily. He uses the metaphor of a ripe fruit: once it falls from the branch, it can never re-attach itself to the tree. Similarly, once this fleeting human life passes, the opportunity for spiritual liberation is lost.

अर्थ: कबीर दास जी कहते हैं कि इस संसार में समय की प्रकृति पर विचार करो। कुछ लोग गृहस्थ जीवन के मोह में फंसे हैं और कुछ वैराग्य या योग के मार्ग पर चल रहे हैं। लेकिन सत्य यह है कि समय निरंतर बीत रहा है और अवसर हाथ से निकल रहे हैं। जो लोग इस वास्तविकता से अनजान हैं, वे केवल भ्रम में जी रहे हैं।

Meaning: Kabir urges us to contemplate the nature of time within this worldly existence. Some are entangled in the domesticities of householder life, while others seek liberation through asceticism or yoga. However, the core truth is that time is relentlessly slipping away, and precious opportunities for awakening are being lost. Those who remain oblivious to this urgency are merely drifting in ignorance.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि हमने अपना पूरा जीवन दूसरों के उपदेश सुनने और बातें करने में बिता दिया, लेकिन हमारा मन अभी भी उलझनों और भ्रमों में फंसा हुआ है। हमने ज्ञान को केवल शब्दों में सुना, उसे अनुभव नहीं किया। इसलिए, आध्यात्मिक जागृति के बिना, आज का दिन भी वैसा ही है जैसे जीवन का पहला दिन—हम अभी भी वहीं खड़े हैं जहाँ से शुरू किया था।

Meaning: Kabir observes that we spend our entire lives listening to spiritual discourses and talking about truth, yet the mind remains entangled in confusion. We have consumed knowledge intellectually but not experientially. Consequently, without actual awakening, today remains as ignorant as the first day of our existence; we have made no real progress in the journey of the soul.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि जब मृत्यु का समय आता है, तो व्यक्ति के चारों ओर उसके शक्तिशाली रक्षक, योद्धा और परिजन खड़े होकर शोर मचाते हैं, लेकिन काल (मृत्यु) इतना शक्तिशाली है कि वह व्यक्ति को उसके सुरक्षित महल के बीच से भी खींच ले जाता है।

Meaning: Kabir observes that when the hour of death arrives, even if a person is surrounded by powerful warriors and loved ones who cry out in desperation, the formidable force of Time (Death) is so overwhelming that it snatches the soul away from the very center of its secure fortress.
