वर्तमान (Living in Present) — Kabir Dohas

अर्थ: कबीर दास जी कहते हैं कि मनुष्य हमेशा कल पर टालता रहता है कि वह भविष्य में ईश्वर की भक्ति करेगा। लेकिन समय (काल) निरंतर बीत रहा है और वह 'कल' कभी नहीं आता। इसी प्रतीक्षा और टालमटोल के चक्कर में जीवन का बहुमूल्य अवसर हाथ से निकल जाता है और मृत्यु चुपचाप आ जाती है।

Meaning: Kabir warns against the fallacy of procrastination in spiritual pursuit. The human mind constantly claims it will seek the Divine 'tomorrow,' but Time (Kaal) relentlessly pushes that tomorrow further away. In this endless cycle of delaying the awakening, the precious opportunity of life slips away, and death arrives unexpectedly.

अर्थ: कबीर दास जी कहते हैं कि जीवन के वे श्रेष्ठ और अनुकूल समय बीत चुके हैं जब मनुष्य को आध्यात्मिक साधना करनी चाहिए थी, परंतु उस समय उसने अपने गुरु के प्रति प्रेम और समर्पण नहीं दिखाया। अब समय बीत जाने के बाद पछतावा करने का कोई लाभ नहीं है, क्योंकि जिस प्रकार पक्षी खेत की पूरी फसल चुग चुके होते हैं, उसके बाद किसान का विलाप फसल को वापस नहीं ला सकता।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that the golden days of opportunity have slipped away because the seeker failed to cultivate a deep, loving bond with the Guru. Now, lamenting the loss is futile; just as a farmer cannot recover his crops once the birds have devoured the entire field, one cannot reclaim lost spiritual time once the window of consciousness has closed.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि यदि आपको आध्यात्मिक ज्ञान या सत्य की प्राप्ति करनी है, तो उसे स्वयं के अनुभव से तुरंत प्राप्त करें। दूसरों से सुनी-सुनाई बातों या परंपराओं पर भरोसा न करें, क्योंकि ये सुनी-सुनाई बातें युगों से चली आ रही हैं और मनुष्य को जन्म और मृत्यु के अंतहीन चक्र में बांधे रखती हैं।

Meaning: Kabir urges the seeker to attain spiritual truth through direct personal experience immediately rather than relying on hearsay. He warns that blindly following inherited traditions and second-hand knowledge has persisted for ages, serving only to bind the soul to the endless cycle of birth and death.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि आध्यात्मिक लक्ष्य अभी भी बहुत दूर है और जीवन की संध्या (मृत्यु) निकट आ गई है। जो लोग समय रहते जागृत नहीं हुए और केवल बाहरी आडंबरों या सांसारिक मोह में फंसे रहे, वे अंत में उस वैश्या की तरह खाली हाथ रह जाएंगे जिसने जीवन भर केवल इच्छाएं कीं लेकिन कभी वास्तविक प्रेम या संतान (आध्यात्मिक उपलब्धि) प्राप्त नहीं की।

Meaning: Kabir warns that the spiritual destination remains distant while the evening of life—death—has already arrived. Those who squandered their time in ignorance or superficial pursuits, failing to cultivate their inner soul, will end up like a barren courtesan: surrounded by luxury and desire, yet utterly void of the one thing that provides true fulfillment and legacy—spiritual realization.

अर्थ: कबीर दास जी चेतावनी देते हैं कि यह संसार और माया एक ठग की तरह है जो हमें क्षणिक सुखों के स्वाद में फँसाकर भ्रमित करती है। माया एक ऐसी वेश्या के समान है जो लुभाती है पर अंततः धोखा देती है। इसलिए, केवल उस निराकार राम (परम सत्य) को मजबूती से पकड़ो ताकि यह बहुमूल्य मानव जीवन व्यर्थ न चला जाए।

Meaning: Kabir warns that the world and Maya act as deceptive cheats, alluring us with the fleeting taste of sensory pleasures. Maya is compared to a courtesan who seduces but ultimately betrays. Therefore, one must hold firmly onto the eternal 'Ram' (the Formless Truth) to ensure that this precious human birth is not squandered in illusion.

अर्थ: हे मन, अपने भाग्य के वास्तविक स्वरूप को भूलकर भ्रम में मत पड़। जो प्रारब्ध या आध्यात्मिक नियति तेरे जीवन में आई है, वह टलने वाली नहीं है। अतः संदेह और दुविधा को त्याग कर उस परम सत्य को स्वीकार कर और निश्चिंत हो जा।

Meaning: O mind, do not forget the true nature of your destiny or wander in delusion. That which has arrived as your karmic allotment or spiritual fate cannot be avoided or erased. Therefore, abandon all doubts and uncertainties, and embrace the certainty of the Divine will.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि मुझे इस संसार के नाम या स्थान की कोई चिंता नहीं है, मैं तो बस उस परम सत्य की ओर जाने वाले मार्ग पर चल पड़ा हूँ। यदि कल कोई बाधा या काँटा मुझे रोकने की कोशिश करेगा, तो मैं उसे पार कर लूँगा, लेकिन मैं आज ही अपनी यात्रा शुरू करूँगा ताकि समय व्यर्थ न जाए।

Meaning: Kabir declares that he is indifferent to the names or labels of worldly destinations; his sole focus is the path leading to the Ultimate Truth. He asserts that if obstacles or 'thorns' arise tomorrow, he will overcome them, but he chooses to stand firm and begin his spiritual ascent today rather than delaying his liberation.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि मृत्यु (काल) हमारे सिर पर खड़ी है, इसलिए हे मित्र! अब जाग जाओ। जिस व्यक्ति का घर रास्ते में स्थित है, वह कैसे निश्चिंत होकर सो सकता है? यह दोहा हमें जीवन की नश्वरता और आध्यात्मिक जागरूकता की तात्कालिकता की याद दिलाता है।

Meaning: Kabir warns that Time or Death (Kaal) stands poised over our heads; therefore, O friend, awaken from your slumber. One whose house lies directly in the path of a passing storm or a predator cannot sleep in peace. It is a call to recognize the fragility of existence and the urgency of spiritual awakening.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि जब व्यक्ति के पास समय और अवसर था, तब उसने सत्य और परमात्मा की पहचान नहीं की। अब जब जीवन के अंत समय की कठिनाइयाँ और मृत्यु रूपी कांटे उसे चारों ओर से घेर चुके हैं, तब जागने या पश्चाताप करने से कोई लाभ नहीं होगा।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that one failed to recognize the Divine Truth when the opportunity was ripe and the path was clear. Now that the thorns of old age, suffering, and inevitable death have surrounded the soul, awakening or repentance is futile, as the window for effortless liberation has closed.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि जीवन का समय फल की तरह पककर बीत चुका है और अब मृत्यु का समय निकट है, जिसे लोग उत्सव या त्योहार समझकर अनदेखा कर रहे हैं। वे चेतावनी देते हैं कि भविष्य की व्यर्थ चिंताओं को त्यागकर, अब अपने भीतर के उस मूल स्रोत की ओर लौटें जहाँ से आप आए हैं।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that the fruit of human life has ripened and the time is slipping away, yet people treat this urgency as a mere festival or a distant event.
