अर्थ: जिस प्रकार तिल के भीतर तेल छिपा होता है और चकमक पत्थर के भीतर अग्नि सुप्त अवस्था में होती है, उसी प्रकार परमात्मा तुम्हारे भीतर ही निवास करता है। आवश्यकता केवल इस बात की है कि तुम अज्ञान की नींद से जागकर उस अंतर्निहित सत्य को पहचान सको।

Meaning: Just as oil is inherently present within the sesame seed and fire resides dormant within the flint stone, the Divine resides within your own being. The only requirement is for you to awaken from the slumber of ignorance and realize this immanent truth.

अर्थ: यह संसार अज्ञानता के अंधकार में डूबा हुआ है और सत्य की वाणी को सुनने को तैयार नहीं है। जब कोई व्यक्ति समाज को सत्य का दर्पण दिखाता है और उसकी वास्तविक स्थिति का बोध कराता है, तो लोग उस सत्य को स्वीकार करने के बजाय उस व्यक्ति को ही अपना शत्रु मान लेते हैं।

Meaning: The world is blinded by ignorance and refuses to heed the word of truth. Even when someone holds up the mirror of reality to show the world its true face, people do not embrace the truth; instead, they perceive the truth-teller as an enemy.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि मनुष्य को बाहरी दुनिया के जाग्रत अवस्था में भी आंतरिक शांति और वैराग्य (सोवन) का अनुभव करना चाहिए। साधना में ऐसी गहरी एकाग्रता हो कि आत्मा का ध्यान परमात्मा से एक अटूट धागे की तरह जुड़ा रहे, जो सांसारिक झटकों से कभी न टूटे।
