कबीर के दोहे (Kabir's Couplets)

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि यदि कोई आध्यात्मिक साधु नींद में हो, तो उसे जगाना उचित है क्योंकि वह जागकर पुनः ईश्वर के स्मरण में लीन हो जाएगा। परंतु, तीन चीजों को कभी नहीं जगाना चाहिए: एक पागल हाथी, एक शेर और एक सांप, क्योंकि उनकी नींद टूटने पर वे विनाशकारी क्रोध और हिंसा का मार्ग अपनाते हैं।

Meaning: Kabir suggests that if a spiritual seeker or saint is asleep, one should awaken them, for upon waking, they will return to the divine remembrance of Brahman. However, three entities should never be disturbed from their slumber: a maddened elephant, a lion, and a serpent, as their awakening triggers uncontrollable rage and lethal destruction.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि एक दलित या वंचित व्यक्ति द्वारा शारीरिक प्रहार सहना उस मानसिक पीड़ा से बेहतर है जो एक अहंकारी या कुलीन व्यक्ति के कड़वे शब्दों से मिलती है। शारीरिक चोट समय के साथ भर जाती है, लेकिन शब्दों द्वारा दी गई मानसिक चोट और अपमान आत्मा को गहराई से घायल करते हैं और सम्मान को नष्ट कर देते हैं।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that enduring physical blows from a marginalized person is preferable to enduring the caustic words of a proud, high-status individual. While physical wounds heal over time, the psychological trauma inflicted by arrogant speech pierces the soul, eroding one's dignity and leaving a lasting scar on the spirit.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि यदि कोई व्यक्ति शुकदेव जैसी गहन आध्यात्मिक दृष्टि और समर्पण प्राप्त कर ले, तभी वह इस संसार रूपी सागर से पार उतर सकता है। बिना गुरु के मार्गदर्शन के, मनुष्य अज्ञानता में डूबा रहता है और जन्म-मृत्यु के चौरासी लाख योनियों के चक्र में भटकता रहता है।

Without the guidance of a true Guru, an individual remains trapped in ignorance, condemned to wander through the endless cycle of eighty-four thousand species of birth and death.

The spiritual resonance of such an encounter is so potent that even if one is facing the most agonizing punishment, like crucifixion, the mere presence of the enlightened one dissolves the thorns of suffering and grants liberation from worldly agony.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि वह दिन वास्तव में सौभाग्यशाली और श्रेष्ठ होता है जब किसी सच्चे साधु या आत्मज्ञानी पुरुष का मिलन होता है। ऐसे संत को हृदय से लगाकर और पूर्ण समर्पण के साथ गले मिलना चाहिए, क्योंकि उनकी पवित्र संगति से आत्मा के संचित पाप और अज्ञानता का क्षय हो जाता है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that the truly auspicious day is the one when one encounters a genuine Sadhu or an enlightened soul. He urges the seeker to embrace such a saint with open arms and total devotion, for the mere presence and association with a realized being dissolve the accumulated sins and spiritual impurities of the physical existence.

Meaning: Kabir explains that bathing at a pilgrimage site yields a single fruit of merit, while meeting a realized saint brings fourfold benefits. However, encountering a True Guru (Satguru) bestows infinite spiritual fruits, liberating the seeker from the endless cycle of birth and death through ultimate wisdom.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि एक सच्चे संत या आत्मज्ञानी पुरुष के दर्शन बार-बार करने चाहिए। जिस प्रकार आश्विन मास (अक्टूबर-नवंबर) की वर्षा समय पर फसल के लिए अत्यंत लाभकारी और जीवनदायी होती है, उसी प्रकार एक साधु का सान्निध्य मनुष्य के जीवन में आध्यात्मिक समृद्धि और मानसिक शांति लाता है।

Meaning: Kabir suggests that one should seek the company of a true saint or an enlightened soul frequently throughout the day. Just as the rains of the month of Ashvin (autumn) are profoundly beneficial and life-giving for the crops, the presence and guidance of a realized soul bring immense spiritual prosperity and mental tranquility to a seeker's life.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि यदि आप जीवन भर आध्यात्मिक प्रयास करने में असमर्थ रहे, तो अब कम से कम दो क्षणों के लिए ही सही, पूर्ण समर्पण और सत्संग का आश्रय लें। एक सच्चे संत के दर्शन और उनकी संगति से प्राप्त ज्ञान आपको समय के उस घातक छल से बचा सकता है जो अंततः मृत्यु और पुनर्जन्म के चक्र में फंसाता है।
