अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि एक ऐसी पुत्री थी जो मांस और मदिरा का सेवन नहीं करती थी। परंतु जब उसकी संगति शराब बनाने वालों (कलाल) के साथ हुई, तो वह धीरे-धीरे उनके प्रभाव में आ गई और अंततः वह भी मदिरा के बिना नहीं रह सकी। यह दोहा संगति के गहरे प्रभाव को दर्शाता है।

Meaning: Kabir speaks of a daughter who abstained from meat and alcohol. However, after associating with the liquor-makers (Kalaals), she gradually succumbed to their influence and eventually found herself unable to live without intoxicants. This doha illustrates the profound and often invisible power of company over an individual's character.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि यदि किसी वस्त्र पर नील का गहरा दाग लग जाए, तो उसे धोने के लिए सौ मन साबुन भी कम पड़ेंगे, वह दाग नहीं जाएगा। इसी प्रकार, यदि किसी व्यक्ति का स्वभाव जन्मजात या गहरे संस्कारों से दूषित है, तो वह करोड़ों बाहरी प्रयासों के बाद भी अपनी मूल प्रकृति को नहीं बदल सकता; एक कौआ कभी हंस नहीं बन सकता।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that if a garment is stained with deep indigo dye, even a hundred maunds of soap cannot wash it away. Similarly, if a person's nature is deeply ingrained with impurities or a limited consciousness, countless external efforts cannot change their fundamental essence; a crow, no matter how much it tries, can never transform into a swan.

Meaning: Kabir explains that the attachment to worldly illusions (Maya) is akin to the precarious bond between a shrew and a venomous snake. If the shrew abandons the snake, it remains lost in the darkness of ignorance; if it consumes the snake, it perishes from the poison. Similarly, one entangled in worldly desires faces regret and suffering regardless of whether they cling to or attempt to consume these illusions.

अर्थ: इंसान सांसारिक सुखों की खोज में निकलता है, लेकिन उस प्रक्रिया में वह उस वास्तविक और शाश्वत आनंद को खो देता है जो उसके भीतर ही मौजूद था। यह स्थिति वैसी ही है जैसे कोई व्यक्ति अंधेरे में एक छछूंदर (छोटा जीव) समझकर किसी चीज़ को पकड़े, लेकिन जब हाथ में वह चीज़ आती है, तो पता चलता है कि वह एक जहरीला साँप था, और तब तक बहुत देर हो चुकी होती है।

Meaning: In the pursuit of fleeting worldly pleasures, a person inadvertently loses the eternal bliss that already resided within them. This is likened to someone who, in the dim light, thinks they have caught a small shrew, only to realize upon grasping it that they have actually seized a venomous snake, leading to profound regret when the mistake is discovered.

अर्थ: संसार में अहंकार, क्रोध और ईर्ष्या जैसे विषैले स्वभाव वाले लोग तो बहुत मिलते हैं, परंतु आध्यात्मिक ज्ञान और करुणा रूपी मणि धारण करने वाले विरले ही हैं। जब एक विषैला व्यक्ति किसी आत्मज्ञानी या प्रेमपूर्ण व्यक्ति के संपर्क में आता है, तो उसका विष समाप्त हो जाता है और वह अमृत तुल्य शांति को प्राप्त करता है।

Meaning: The world is teeming with 'Vishdhars'—those possessed by the poison of ego, anger, and hatred. However, 'Manidhars'—those who possess the jewel of spiritual wisdom and divine love—are exceedingly rare. When a poisonous soul encounters a jewel-bearing soul, the toxicity is neutralized, and the poison is transformed into the nectar of immortality and peace.

अर्थ: जिस प्रकार तिल के विभिन्न प्रकारों से निकलने वाला तेल अंततः एक ही गुण का होता है, उसी प्रकार सत्य एक ही है। जब साधक सही संगति और सत्संग का साथ पाता है, तब उसके भीतर ईश्वरीय नाम और आध्यात्मिक चेतना का पूर्ण विकास होता है।

Meaning: Just as oil extracted from various types of sesame seeds remains essentially the same oil, the ultimate Truth is one. When a seeker aligns themselves with the right spiritual company and divine association, the seed of the Holy Name blossoms into full spiritual awakening.

अर्थ: कबीर दास जी कहते हैं कि मूर्ख व्यक्ति यह भ्रम पाले रहता है कि वह केवल बाहरी कर्मकांडों और दिखावे से बैकुंठ (मोक्ष) प्राप्त कर लेगा। वह जीवन भर इसी गलत धारणा में जीता है, लेकिन अंततः वह आत्म-ज्ञान और सच्ची श्रद्धा के अभाव में आध्यात्मिक पतन का सामना करता है, क्योंकि उसने वास्तव में अपने अहंकार की बलि नहीं दी।
