अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि जिस प्रकार हर वन चंदन का नहीं होता और हर वनस्पति औषधीय नहीं होती, और जिस प्रकार हर समुद्र में मोती नहीं मिलते, उसी प्रकार इस संसार में हर वह व्यक्ति जो साधु जैसा दिखता है, वास्तव में सच्चा साधु या आत्मज्ञानी नहीं होता।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that just as not every forest consists of fragrant sandalwood and not every plant possesses healing properties, and just as not every ocean yields precious pearls, similarly, not every person who assumes the appearance or title of a saint is a true realized soul in this world.

अर्थ: कबीर दास जी कहते हैं कि कुछ लोग बाहरी रूप से तो शेर की तरह शक्तिशाली और प्रभावशाली दिखने का ढोंग करते हैं, लेकिन उनके कर्म और स्वभाव डरपोक भेड़ की तरह होते हैं। उनकी बातें चालाक सियार जैसी होती हैं, और अंततः उनका ऐसा पाखंड उन्हें विनाश की ओर ले जाता है, जहाँ समय या मृत्यु उन्हें वैसे ही निगल लेती है जैसे कोई कुत्ता किसी मृत वस्तु को खाता है।

Meaning: Kabir observes that some individuals adorn themselves in the attire of a lion to project power and authority, yet their actual conduct remains timid and cowardly like a sheep. अर्थ: कबीर यहाँ दो प्रकार के लोगों की तुलना कर रहे हैं: एक वह जो सांसारिक मोह त्याग कर वैरागी बन गया है और दूसरा वह जो गृहस्थ जीवन में रहकर भी उदार हृदय रखता है। यदि वैरागी के भीतर अहंकार है और गृहस्थ के भीतर मोह, तो दोनों ही आध्यात्मिक मार्ग पर विफल हैं और उनका जीवन व्यर्थ जाता है।

Meaning: Kabir compares two paths: the ascetic who renounces the world and the householder who maintains a generous and open heart. He asserts that if the ascetic lacks true detachment and the householder lacks genuine compassion, both fail in their spiritual quest, leaving their lives devoid of ultimate liberation.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि यदि एक जहरीला सांप चंदन के पेड़ पर निवास करता है, तो वह अपनी प्रकृति के कारण चंदन की सुगंध या उसकी शीतलता को नष्ट नहीं कर सकता। चंदन अपनी पवित्रता बनाए रखता है। लेकिन यदि मनुष्य का अपना पूरा अस्तित्व अहंकार, क्रोध और ईर्ष्या जैसे विषों से भरा हुआ है, तो उसमें ईश्वरीय अमृत या आध्यात्मिक ज्ञान का वास कैसे संभव है?

Meaning: Kabir explains that even if a venomous serpent dwells within a sandalwood tree, the snake's poison cannot taint the inherent fragrance or purity of the wood. अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि संतों का साथ गंगाजल के समान पवित्र होता है। जिस प्रकार गंगा स्नान से शरीर की बाहरी गंदगी साफ हो जाती है, उसी प्रकार सत्संगति और पवित्र आत्माओं के सानिध्य से मनुष्य के मन और आत्मा के गहरे विकार, अहंकार और अज्ञान मिट जाते हैं, जिससे वह आंतरिक रूप से शुद्ध हो जाता है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that the company of saints is as purifying as the waters of the holy Ganges. Just as a dip in the river cleanses the physical body of external grime, the association with enlightened souls washes away the deep-seated impurities of the mind, the stains of ego, and the darkness of ignorance, leading to total inner purification.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि एक सच्चे संत की संगति उस इत्र बेचने वाले (गंधी) के पास बैठने के समान है। जिस प्रकार गंधी हमें कोई इत्र की शीशी न भी दे, फिर भी उसके पास बैठने मात्र से हमारा पूरा अस्तित्व उसकी सुगंध से महक उठता है, वैसे ही साधु के सानिध्य में केवल उनकी उपस्थिति से ही व्यक्ति का आंतरिक रूपांतरण होने लगता है।

Just as a person becomes fragrant simply by sitting near a perfumer, even if no actual perfume is gifted to them, the mere presence of a realized soul permeates the seeker with spiritual fragrance and purity without the need for formal instruction.

अर्थ: जब तक हृदय में परमात्मा के प्रति सच्चा अनुराग और प्रेम नहीं जागता, तब तक आत्मा को वास्तविक शांति और सुखद निद्रा नहीं मिल सकती। जिस प्रकार जल से अलग होकर मछली तड़पती है, उसी प्रकार ईश्वर से विलग आत्मा संसार में बेचैनी और मानसिक पीड़ा का अनुभव करती है।

Meaning: Until a genuine, burning love for the Divine awakens within the heart, the soul cannot find true peace or restful sleep. Just as a fish gasps in agony when separated from its natural element, water, the soul suffers in restlessness and spiritual turmoil when detached from its source, the Divine.

अर्थ: जो व्यक्ति अपने गुरु की सच्ची शिक्षाओं और मार्गदर्शन का पालन नहीं करता और अपने अहंकारवश विचित्र या टेढ़े रास्तों पर चलता है, वह सांसारिक लोक-मर्यादा और आध्यात्मिक वेदों के ज्ञान, दोनों को खो देता है। अंततः, वह केवल विनाश और आध्यात्मिक मृत्यु की ओर अग्रसर होता है।

Meaning: One who disregards the authentic instructions of the Guru and wanders on erratic, ego-driven paths loses both the wisdom of the scriptures and the harmony of social existence. By rejecting true guidance, such a person invites spiritual ruin and the inevitable shadow of death upon their soul.

अर्थ: कबीर दास जी चेतावनी देते हैं कि जो शिष्य या साधक अपने सद्गुरु द्वारा दिए गए 'शब्द' (दिव्य ज्ञान या मंत्र) की मर्यादा को लांघकर अन्य बाहरी रास्तों या सांसारिक आश्रयों की तलाश करता है, वह अंततः विनाश और समय (काल) के चक्र में फंस जाता है। सत्य केवल गुरु-तत्व के अनुशासन में है।
