Meaning: Kabir questions the utility of intellectual cleverness or scholarly prowess if it fails to internalize the 'Shabd' (the divine sound or ultimate truth). He illustrates this with the metaphor of a parrot that may mimic millions of words with precision, yet in the end, it remains a bird driven by basic instinct, eating only grain, possessing no true understanding of the words it utters.

Meaning: Kabir asks why one continued in error when they had the chance to stop, and why they grieve now that the consequences have arrived. He asserts that if one plants the seeds of a thorny acacia tree, it is an impossibility to expect the sweet fruit of a mango. Action and result are inextricably linked.

Meaning: Man performs worldly duties through the physical body, following the conventional patterns of existence. However, true liberation is achieved only when one dissolves the ego associated with action and the attachment to results, replacing them with a profound, selfless love for the Formless Divine (Ram).

Meaning: This physical body will eventually turn into ash, and no one will recognize it as a body anymore. Therefore, the true fruit and purpose of this transient life lie solely in performing selfless acts of kindness and service to others, as only these deeds remain meaningful beyond death.

Meaning: Kabir suggests that one who is swept away by the current of ignorance and ego cannot be saved by mere words; they need a firm anchor. When a person remains indifferent to conventional teachings or heard wisdom, a different, more profound 'word' or a transformative approach is required to awaken them to the truth.

Meaning: Kabir advises the seeker to fully internalize the teachings of the Guru and make them the foundation of existence. When an ignorant or ego-driven person offers futile criticism of your spiritual path, treat such noise as the barking of a dog or the silence of a stone; do not engage in rebuttal, for conflict only nourishes the ego.

Meaning: Kabir suggests that the food we consume directly shapes our mental state and thoughts. Similarly, the essence of the water we drink—symbolizing the environment and influences we absorb—determines the quality and tone of our speech. It emphasizes the profound connection between external intake and internal output.

Meaning: Kabir suggests that one who spends their days and nights immersed in the divine discourse and singing of the Lord is truly aligned with the Truth. He advises that one should establish a bond of unwavering love and affection with such a devoted soul, for their devotion is constant and sincere.

Meaning: Kabir asserts that the physical body is transient and destined to dissolve in the flow of time. He urges the seeker to preserve their spiritual essence and consciousness, for those who spent their lives accumulating vast material wealth—millions and billions—eventually departed from this world empty-handed.

Meaning: This world is fleeting and transient, lasting only a metaphorical 'two days.' Therefore, do not cultivate deep attachment or emotional longing for its ephemeral pleasures. Instead, anchor your consciousness at the feet of the Guru, for only that spiritual guidance leads to the realization of absolute, eternal bliss that transcends the cycle of birth and death.
