Meaning: Kabir observes that the world is filled with self-proclaimed scholars who spend their days in endless discourse. However, true wisdom lies in the ability to discern the essence. Just as a genuine merchant is distinct from a thief, the spiritually awakened soul (the Swan) is fundamentally different from the ignorant mind (the Crow), though both may appear similar to the untrained eye.

Meaning: Kabir explains that the True Guru has revealed the fundamental distinction between the swan (Hans) and the crow (Kaag). While the swan possesses the discernment to pick only pearls of truth and divine knowledge from the water, the crow, driven by ignorance and base desires, consumes filth and remains trapped in lower vibrations, leading it toward spiritual degradation and the darkness of existence.

Meaning: Every individual clings to their own pride and perceived truths as the ultimate reality. The word of the Divine is rare and subtle, remaining elusive to those who approach it with a closed mind or an inflated ego; it requires a total dissolution of the self to be truly understood.

Meaning: Kabir bows with folded hands in profound humility, addressing his Guru as the eternal reservoir of grace. He prays to be granted the bliss of the company of saints and asks for the gift of compassion and spiritual wisdom to alleviate the 'poverty' of his soul—the void created by ignorance.

Meaning: Kabir offers a humble plea to the enlightened saints, urging them to heed his inner restlessness. He seeks the authentic path that leads to the Creator, expressing a profound spiritual longing to transcend the mundane and unite with the Divine Source.

Meaning: Kabir offers a humble plea to the Divine to navigate the treacherous waters of the worldly ocean of existence. He acknowledges that human effort alone is insufficient; only the supreme grace of the Almighty can shield a devotee from the clutches of death and the stern judgment of Yama, the lord of death.

Meaning: O Divine Lord, Your power is absolute and overwhelming, and only through Your intervention can my impossible task be accomplished. It is Your eternal reputation and sacred honor to protect and uphold those who surrender themselves completely to Your sanctuary.

Meaning: Kabir expresses a profound sense of spiritual shame, questioning how he can possibly approach the Divine with a plea for mercy. Since the Almighty has witnessed every flaw and transgression of his soul, he feels unworthy and bewildered about how to evoke Divine love or grace.

Meaning: A merchant pleads, holding a coconut in his hand, but his caravan has already departed and moved ahead. He finds himself stranded because he lacked a true guide or leader. This symbolizes the tragedy of possessing material offerings while lacking the spiritual direction necessary for the journey.

Meaning: Kabir addresses the Divine, stating that all his flaws and virtues are reflections of the Divine, and vice versa. He acknowledges a profound unity where the distinction between the seeker and the Sought vanishes. He prays that even if he forgets the Divine due to worldly illusion, the Divine should never forget him.
