Meaning: Kabir asserts that a true saint is like sandalwood, while the worldly existence is akin to venomous serpents. Just as snakes coil themselves around sandalwood to bask in its coolness and fragrance without altering the wood's inherent nature, a realized soul remains immersed in the world's chaos and negativity without allowing any impurity or distortion to enter their inner consciousness.

Meaning: Kabir suggests that while clarified butter (ghee) appears pure and appealing to the eye, its consumption is not always beneficial if it leads to imbalance, making simple oil preferable. Similarly, a wise enemy is far better than a foolish friend, for the former's hostility is predictable, while the latter's ignorance causes unintentional but devastating ruin.

Meaning: Observing a grinding mill in motion, Kabir weeps in profound realization. He observes that once the grains enter between the two heavy grinding stones, not a single grain remains whole; all are crushed into powder. Similarly, caught between the dualities of this material world and the crushing cycle of Maya, no human being manages to preserve the wholeness of their original, primordial soul.

Meaning: Kabir asserts that the moment one encounters a true Satguru or an enlightened soul is a moment of supreme value. When the divine name—representing the ultimate truth—resides on the tongue through the guidance of such a sage, the seeker transforms their existence and redeems their life from the cycle of ignorance.

Meaning: Just as the pupil is inherently present within the eye, the Divine resides within the sanctuary of one's own being. Foolish individuals remain unaware of this internal presence and spend their lives searching for the Creator in external shrines, rituals, and distant lands, failing to realize that the seeker and the sought are one.

Meaning: Kabir describes the Divine as an entity without a face, a head, or any physical form—neither beautiful nor ugly. Like the fragrance of a flower, the Divine is invisible yet perceptible through its essence. This ultimate element is so unique and incomparable that it cannot be grasped by the senses, only realized through direct spiritual experience.

Meaning: Kabir explains that just as a seedling planted in water-logged soil requires a hundred waterings to eventually bloom, the human soul is planted within the soil of this material existence. He suggests that until one transcends the attachments of the world and the clutter of the mind, the realization of the Divine remains elusive, as the persistent cycle of worldly thought and desire obscures the inner light.

Meaning: Kabir laments the wasted days spent away from the company of the enlightened. He asserts that a life devoid of love is no different from the existence of an animal, and without the essence of devotion, the Divine remains unattainable and distant.

Meaning: Kabir asserts that while many people adopt the outward appearance of a renunciant—wearing saffron robes or abandoning worldly comforts—very few manage to discipline and transform the inner mind. True spiritual mastery lies not in physical austerity but in mental alchemy. One who achieves 'Man Yogi' (a yogi of the mind) attains all spiritual goals and universal truths effortlessly and naturally.

Meaning: Kabir explains that just as the stars remain visible in the sky only until the sun rises, the human soul remains bound by the cycles of karma and worldly illusions only until the light of true spiritual knowledge dawns within.
