कबीर के दोहे (Kabir's Couplets)

अर्थ: कबीर दास जी कहते हैं कि मनुष्य ने अपनी इच्छाओं और अहंकार के धनुष से एक ऐसा तीर छोड़ा है जिसने उसे स्वयं भीतर से घायल कर दिया है। यह प्रहार इतना गहरा और सूक्ष्म है कि बाहरी दुनिया को लगता है कि व्यक्ति जीवित है, परंतु आध्यात्मिक रूप से वह मृत समान है क्योंकि उसकी आत्मा वासनाओं के घाव से लहूलुहान है।

Meaning: Kabir suggests that man has strung the bow of desire and ego, launching an arrow that has pierced his own inner being. This wound is so profound and internal that while the physical body remains animated, the spiritual essence is devastated. He questions whether such a person is truly alive or merely a walking corpse of desires.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि जब तक मुझे मृत्यु के समान कठोर प्रहार नहीं मिला और मेरे अहंकार का पूर्ण विनाश नहीं हुआ, तब तक मुझे वास्तविक जीवन का बोध नहीं हुआ। जब वह चोट मेरी आत्मा के सबसे गहरे और संवेदनशील हिस्से पर लगी, तब मेरा हृदय पूरी तरह से खुल गया और मैं सत्य को जान पाया।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that it was only when he was struck by a blow as devastating as death, and his ego was violently dismantled, that he truly discovered the essence of life. When the strike hit the most sensitive core of his being, his heart was torn open, allowing the light of ultimate truth to enter.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि जिस अहंकार रूपी सर्प को मैंने कल मारा था, वही सर्प आज फिर से मेरे मन में बस गया है। जब तक मैं इस सूक्ष्म अहंकार के सर्प को पूरी तरह समाप्त नहीं कर देता, तब तक मैं उस परम सत्य या ईश्वर का साक्षात्कार नहीं कर सकता।

Meaning: Kabir reflects on the persistent nature of the ego, comparing it to a serpent. He notes that the serpent of pride he thought he had slain yesterday has returned to dwell within his mind. He asserts that until this internal venomous ego is completely eradicated, the realization of the Ultimate Truth remains unattainable.

अर्थ: यह दोहा आत्मा की उस तीव्र तड़प का वर्णन करता है जो परमात्मा से अलग होने के कारण उत्पन्न होती है। कबीर कहते हैं कि विरह एक ऐसे सांप के समान है जो शरीर के भीतर बस गया है, और इस आध्यात्मिक विष का कोई बाहरी मंत्र या उपचार काम नहीं करता। जो वास्तव में ईश्वर के प्रेम में विरही है, वह या तो जीवित नहीं रहता या फिर संसार की दृष्टि में पागल हो जाता है।

Meaning: This couplet describes the intense longing of the soul resulting from its separation from the Divine. Kabir asserts that the pain of separation (Viraha) is like a serpent coiled within the body, and no external mantra or remedy can cure this spiritual venom. One who is truly consumed by the longing for the Divine either ceases to exist in the worldly sense or lives as a madman in the eyes of society.

अर्थ: ईश्वर के विरह की अग्नि एक जहरीले सांप की तरह हृदय में प्रवेश कर गई है और गहरे घाव कर दिए हैं। अब यह साधक अपनी स्थिति को स्वीकार कर चुका है और कहता है कि हे परमात्मा, अब तू मुझे जिस रूप में चाहे, वैसे ही ग्रहण कर ले; मैं अब पूर्णतः समर्पित हूँ।

Meaning: The agony of separation from the Divine has entered the heart like a venomous serpent, leaving deep, incurable wounds. The seeker, now completely broken and surrendered, tells the Divine: "O Lord, do not turn away; consume me or transform me in whatever manner You desire."

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि यह मानव शरीर एक रबाब (वाद्य यंत्र) के समान है, जिसकी हर नस और तंतु विरह की धुन बजा रहे हैं। यह परमात्मा से अलग होने की तड़प है, जिसे दुनिया का कोई भी साधारण व्यक्ति नहीं सुन सकता; इसे केवल वह परमात्मा ही अपने हृदय में सुन सकता है जो स्वयं इस संगीत का स्रोत है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that the human body is like a rabab, a stringed instrument, where every nerve and fiber constantly vibrates with the melody of longing. This is the ache of separation from the Divine, a silent symphony that remains inaudible to the worldly ear; it can only be heard and understood by the Lord Himself, within His own consciousness.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि विरह (ईश्वर से अलग होने का दुख) को छोटा न समझो, क्योंकि यह विरह ही वास्तव में आध्यात्मिक सम्राट है। जिस हृदय में परमात्मा के लिए तड़प या विरह की अग्नि नहीं जलती, वह हृदय जीवित होते हुए भी एक श्मशान के समान मृत और शून्य है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that one should not dismiss the pain of separation (Viraha) from the Divine, for this longing is the true sovereign ruler of the soul. The heart that does not experience this sacred ache for the Eternal is nothing more than a cremation ground—spiritually dead and void of life.

अर्थ: इस दोहे में कबीर एक ऐसे साधक की विरह-वेदना का वर्णन कर रहे हैं जिसने परमात्मा की प्रतीक्षा में अपना सर्वस्व समर्पित कर दिया है। आँखों में इंतज़ार की झाइयाँ पड़ गई हैं और निरंतर ईश्वर का नाम जपने के कारण जीभ पर छाले पड़ गए हैं, फिर भी उसकी प्यास शांत नहीं हुई है।

Meaning: In this couplet, Kabir depicts the intense agony of separation experienced by a seeker who has surrendered everything in anticipation of the Divine. The eyes have grown weary and shadowed from constant gazing upon the path, and the tongue is blistered from the ceaseless chanting of 'Ram', yet the spiritual thirst remains unquenched.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि मैं इस भौतिक शरीर को एक दीपक बना लूँ और अपनी आत्मा को उसकी बाती बना दूँ। मैं अपने रक्त और जीवन-शक्ति को ईंधन के रूप में जलाकर उस परम तेज को प्राप्त करना चाहता हूँ, ताकि अंततः मैं अपने प्रिय परमात्मा के दर्शन कर सकूँ।

Meaning: Kabir expresses a profound longing to transform his physical body into a lamp and his soul into the wick. He desires to fuel this lamp with the essence of his own life-blood and vitality, burning away all impurities to attain a divine radiance that finally allows him to behold the face of his Beloved, the Eternal Truth.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि मेरी आँखों से विरह की अश्रु-धारा एक झरने की तरह बह रही है, जो रात-दिन बिना रुके प्रवाहित होती रहती है। जिस प्रकार पपीहा वर्षा की प्रतीक्षा में व्याकुल होकर 'पीव-पीव' पुकारता है, वैसे ही मैं परमात्मा के मिलन की तीव्र तड़प में निरंतर पुकार रहा हूँ कि हे राम, आप मुझे कब मिलेंगे।

Meaning: Kabir expresses that his eyes have become a constant fountain of tears, flowing incessantly day and night. Just as the Papiha bird cries out in desperate longing for the first rains of the monsoon, the poet cries out in an agonizing state of separation, yearning for the moment of union with the Divine Ram.
