अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि जिस प्रकार एक विरहिणी स्त्री रात भर अपने प्रिय की याद में रोती है और तड़पती है, ठीक उसी प्रकार साधक के हृदय के भीतर परमात्मा के लिए विरह की अग्नि प्रज्वलित होती है। यह आंतरिक तड़प अंततः आध्यात्मिक ज्ञान के एक महान पुंज या प्रकाश के रूप में प्रकट होती है।

Meaning: Kabir describes the state of a spiritual seeker as that of a woman longing for her beloved throughout the night. Just as she weeps in separation, the seeker's heart burns with an intense longing for the Divine. This internal fire of separation eventually culminates in a brilliant explosion of spiritual realization and light.

अर्थ: आकाश में काले बादल छा गए हैं और ताल-तलैया बारिश से भर गए हैं, जो प्रकृति की प्रचुरता और आनंद का प्रतीक है। परंतु, जिस व्यक्ति का परमात्मा (गोबिंद) से विच्छेद हो गया है, उसकी स्थिति अत्यंत दयनीय है; उसके दुख का कोई अंत नहीं है और उसकी सहायता करने वाला कोई नहीं है।

Meaning: The sky is draped in dark, rain-bearing clouds, and the ponds are overflowing with water, symbolizing the abundance and joy of the natural world. However, for those who have become estranged from the Divine (Gobind), their condition is one of utter misery; they are adrift in a void where no earthly comfort can alleviate their spiritual longing.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि चकवा-चकवी पक्षी रात में एक-दूसरे से अलग हो जाते हैं, लेकिन सुबह होते ही वे पुनः मिल जाते हैं। परंतु, जो मनुष्य उस परमात्मा (राम) से विलग हो गया है, उसके लिए न तो धूप सुखद है और न ही छाया; उसके जीवन में पूर्णतः शांति का अभाव है।

Meaning: Kabir observes that the Chakwa birds are separated during the night but reunite at the first light of dawn. However, a human being who is estranged from the Divine (Ram) finds no solace in any condition—neither in the warmth of the sun nor the coolness of the shade; their separation is an eternal restlessness.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि जब आत्मा अपने मूल स्रोत, परमात्मा से अलग हो जाती है, तो जीवन में कहीं भी शांति नहीं मिलती। न दिन में सुख है, न रात की नींद में चैन है, और न ही सपनों में कोई संतोष है। परमात्मा से विछोह की यह स्थिति ऐसी है जहाँ न तो धूप का सहारा है और न ही छाँव का सुकून; केवल एक अंतहीन अधूरापन शेष रहता है।

There is no joy in the waking hours, no tranquility in the depths of the night, and no solace even within the realm of dreams. अर्थ: एक विरहिणी अपने प्रिय की प्रतीक्षा में रास्ते के किनारे खड़ी है। जब कोई राहगीर वहाँ से गुजरता है, तो वह दौड़कर उसके पास जाती है और केवल एक शब्द में अपने प्रिय के बारे में पूछती है कि वह वापस कब आएंगे। यह आत्मा की परमात्मा के लिए तीव्र तड़प को दर्शाता है।

Meaning: A longing soul stands at the edge of the path, waiting for her beloved. When a traveler passes by, she rushes toward them, asking in a single, desperate word about her Beloved: "When will He return?" This depicts the intense, agonizing yearning of the individual soul for its divine source.

अर्थ: कबीर दास जी कहते हैं कि हे राम, मैं बहुत लंबे समय से तुम्हारी प्रतीक्षा कर रहा हूँ। मेरा अंतर्मन और मेरी आत्मा तुमसे मिलने के लिए व्याकुल है, और जब तक यह मिलन नहीं हो जाता, मेरे मन को कोई शांति या विश्राम नहीं मिल रहा है।

अर्थ: यह दोहा विरह की उस तीव्र अवस्था का वर्णन करता है जहाँ साधक ईश्वर के दर्शन के लिए व्याकुल है। कबीर कहते हैं कि यदि परमात्मा का साक्षात्कार मृत्यु के पश्चात होता है, तो उस दर्शन का कोई मूल्य नहीं है; वास्तविक उपलब्धि वर्तमान जीवन में जीवित रहते हुए उस परम सत्य का अनुभव करना है।

Meaning: This couplet describes the intense state of longing where the seeker is desperate for a vision of the Divine. Kabir asserts that if the realization of the Truth occurs only after death, such a vision is useless; the only meaningful achievement is the experiential realization of the Supreme Truth while still alive in this physical body.

अर्थ: यह विरह की व्याकुलता और तड़प किसी संदेश से कम नहीं होगी। चाहे यह संदेश आए कि ईश्वर (हरि) स्वयं लौट आए हैं, या यह खबर मिले कि आत्मा अंततः हरि के पास ही चली गई है; दोनों ही स्थितियों में यह मिलन की तीव्र इच्छा और विरह का अंत केवल पूर्ण विलय से ही संभव है।

Meaning: The profound agony of separation and the restless longing of the soul cannot be appeased by mere messages or news. Whether the message declares that the Divine (Hari) has returned to the seeker, or that the seeker has finally departed to be with the Divine, the intense yearning only ceases upon the actual, absolute union of the two.

अर्थ: कबीर दास जी इस दोहे में परमात्मा के प्रति अपनी तीव्र विरह वेदना व्यक्त कर रहे हैं। वे कहते हैं कि मैं न तो स्वयं तुम्हारे पास पहुँच पा रहा हूँ और न ही तुम्हें पुकार कर बुला पा रहा हूँ। हे प्रभु, क्या तुम मेरी इस आत्मा को विरह की अग्नि में धीरे-धीरे जलाकर ही प्राप्त करोगे?
