Meaning: Kabir laments the plight of a human whose heart is a void of spiritual emptiness. He suggests that even if such a person is seated upon a golden throne or surrounded by the highest material luxuries, they will remain perpetually unsatisfied, continuing to crave the trivial and the mundane because the hunger is not of the body, but of the soul.

Meaning: Kabir reflects on the profound helplessness of a human being whose existence has become a void. He suggests that if the inner spark of consciousness or the living spirit does not awaken within, then all external calls, spiritual exhortations, or the teachings of saints like Kabir himself remain futile and unheard.

Meaning: Kabir asserts that if a person is born human but fails to awaken their spiritual consciousness and spends their life in ignorance, they are not truly human. Such a person is akin to a beast while still alive, having squandered the rare opportunity of human birth by remaining enslaved to material desires and primal instincts.

Meaning: Kabir describes the human mind as a vast ocean and desires as the turbulent waves arising within it. Countless unconscious souls have drowned in this sea of attachment and illusion. Kabir asserts that only those who possess 'Vivek'—the spiritual discernment to distinguish the eternal from the ephemeral—can navigate and survive this perilous crossing.

Meaning: Kabir asserts that the mind and Maya (the cosmic illusion) are essentially one; Maya resides within the mind itself. Throughout the three realms of existence, there is a profound confusion and doubt because people attempt to separate the two, seeking to escape Maya while ignoring that the very instrument of their search—the mind—is the seat of the illusion.

Meaning: The mind has become a cramped chamber of illusions (Maya), and the body is enclosed within a fortress of doubt. When a person refuses to heed the antidotes of spiritual wisdom and truth, they inevitably fall prey to the lethal strike of the serpent of Time and Death.

Meaning: Kabir describes the human mind as a restless monkey, requiring the skill of a master juggler or spiritual guide to be tamed. He compares the mind to a vast, boundless ocean, where the individual is often lost in the depths of endless desires and fluctuating thoughts, struggling to find the shore of truth.

Meaning: On the slopes of the Malayagiri mountains, countless varieties of trees grow in abundance. However, only the sandalwood tree is revered for its intrinsic fragrance. Kabir asserts that merely claiming to be like sandalwood or residing in a sacred place does not make one the mountain itself; true essence is born of internal transformation, not external association.

Meaning: Kabir suggests that if one resides amidst the fragrant peaks of Malayagiri yet spends their time cutting down common trees like Dhak and Palas, they are missing the true essence of existence. The real pursuit should be the 'Vena' (the divine flute or the inner sound), which awakens the soul's music and ensures an eternal union with the Divine.

Meaning: Kabir asserts that while everyone speaks their own truth and expects him to listen, no one truly understands his inner reality. Only those who have traversed the same path of ego-annihilation and reached a similar state of spiritual void and oneness can truly comprehend the essence of his words.
