Meaning: Kabir asserts that the temple is made of stone and the deity enshrined within is also of stone. The devotee who worships this inanimate object is blinded by ignorance. He questions the utility of such ritualistic service when the internal consciousness remains dormant and unaware of the living truth.

Meaning: Kabir observes that a person bathes early in the morning to maintain a facade of purity, yet remains blind to the vision of the soul. Driven by the fear of social judgment and the desire for public approval, they cling to ritualistic habits while their mind remains clouded by deep-seated delusion.

Meaning: Kabir asserts that the same divine essence attributed to the Saligram stone resides within the human soul. Instead of venerating a lifeless stone, one should worship the living consciousness and the speaking spirit within, for a silent stone cannot provide the spiritual liberation that a living realization can.

Meaning: Kabir observes that just as a mighty elephant, despite its immense physical strength, falls into a hunter's trap due to a lack of discernment, human beings remain imprisoned by the bonds of worldly attachment and ego. When the darkness of ignorance prevails, the soul remains oblivious to its own captivity, making it nearly impossible to awaken them through mere words.

Meaning: Kabir observes that people are consumed by formal education and the pursuit of bookish knowledge, yet they neglect the essential spiritual quality that truly matters. By chasing intellectual prestige, they have become entangled in a web of illusions, ultimately losing the essence of their own soul and inner peace.

Meaning: The Muslim rushes toward the mosque and the Hindu toward the temple, both clinging to their respective external symbols and religious identities. Meanwhile, the 'Alakh' (Invisible/Unknowable) Divine resides within the heart of every being, an infinite presence whose depths and boundaries cannot be measured or reached through outward rituals.

Meaning: Kabir asserts that external chanting, austerities, pilgrimages, and ritual fasts have become hollow shells. People perform these religious acts for social validation or mechanical habit, lacking true faith and internal transformation. Just as a parrot is lured by the deceptive sweetness of the Semal fruit only to face ruin, the world wanders in a state of spiritual disappointment, trapped by the illusion of ritualism.

Meaning: Kabir asserts that labor without a proper spiritual medium, a physical existence devoid of discernment, and the practice of yoga without true experiential knowledge are futile. Such an individual wanders in a state of confusion and mental distress, never attaining the stillness of the soul.

Meaning: Kabir observes the Mullah shouting the call to prayer with great intensity, as if God were deaf and required a loud summons to be heard. He asserts that the Divine is not distant or unresponsive; rather, the very Being the Mullah seeks through external noise resides silently within the depths of his own heart.

Meaning: Kabir uses the metaphor of an ant carrying a grain of rice who encounters a grain of lentil along the way. He explains that the human mind cannot hold two conflicting desires or directions simultaneously; if one attempts to pursue two divergent paths, they end up achieving neither, illustrating the necessity of singular focus in spiritual pursuit.
