कबीर के दोहे (Kabir's Couplets)

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि अपने मन को उस परमात्मा को समर्पित कर दें, क्योंकि वही एकमात्र सच्चा सेवक है। जब मन पूरी तरह समर्पित होता है, तो वह कठिनतम कष्टों और परीक्षाओं को भी सह लेता है, फिर भी वह अपने मार्ग से विचलित नहीं होता और न ही किसी अन्य सांसारिक मोह में पड़ता है।

Meaning: Kabir urges the seeker to surrender the mind entirely to the Divine, for only in that surrender does one become a true servant. Such a mind is so steadfast in its devotion that even if a saw were to run across its head, it would remain unwavering, refusing to seek any other refuge or succumb to duality.

अर्थ: यह दोहा सिखाता है कि धर्म का वास्तविक ध्वज या प्रतीक बाहरी आडंबर नहीं, बल्कि धैर्य और संतोष है। जो व्यक्ति धैर्यवान होता है और संतोष को अपना आधार बनाता है, वही वास्तविक सुख प्राप्त करता है और ईश्वर का सच्चा सेवक तथा ज्ञानी कहलाता है।

Meaning: This couplet teaches that the true banner of righteousness is not found in external rituals, but in patience and contentment. One who possesses steadfast patience and embraces contentment as their foundation attains genuine bliss and is recognized as a truly wise servant of the Divine.

अर्थ: जब तक हृदय में परमात्मा के प्रति सच्चा अनुराग और प्रेम नहीं जागता, तब तक आत्मा को वास्तविक शांति और सुखद निद्रा नहीं मिल सकती। जिस प्रकार जल से अलग होकर मछली तड़पती है, उसी प्रकार ईश्वर से विलग आत्मा संसार में बेचैनी और मानसिक पीड़ा का अनुभव करती है।

Meaning: Until a genuine, burning love for the Divine awakens within the heart, the soul cannot find true peace or restful sleep. Just as a fish gasps in agony when separated from its natural element, water, the soul suffers in restlessness and spiritual turmoil when detached from its source, the Divine.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि जब सेवक और स्वामी के बीच का भेद समाप्त हो जाता है और दोनों एक ही चेतना में विलीन हो जाते हैं, तब वास्तविक मिलन होता है। ईश्वर या सत्य केवल बौद्धिक चतुराई या चालाकी से प्रसन्न नहीं होते, बल्कि वे केवल उस हृदय से प्रसन्न होते हैं जो निस्वार्थ प्रेम और पूर्ण समर्पण से भरा हो।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that true spiritual union occurs when the distinction between the servant (the individual soul) and the master (the Divine) dissolves into a single consciousness. The Divine is not impressed by intellectual cleverness or strategic piety; rather, the Truth is attracted only to a heart characterized by selfless love and absolute surrender.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि एक सच्चा शिष्य (गुरुमुख) सदैव अपने गुरु के ज्ञान और उनकी दृष्टि में लीन रहता है। जिस प्रकार एक सांप मणि के आकर्षण से बंधा रहता है और उसे कभी नहीं छोड़ता, उसी प्रकार एक समर्पित साधक अपने गुरु के मार्गदर्शन को अपने अस्तित्व का अभिन्न अंग बना लेता है, जिससे वह कभी विचलित नहीं होता।

Meaning: Kabir explains that a true disciple (Gurumukh) remains perpetually absorbed in the consciousness and vision of the Guru. Just as a serpent is instinctively drawn to and remains captivated by the radiance of a precious jewel, a devoted seeker integrates the Guru's wisdom into their very being, ensuring they never drift away from the path of truth.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि जो व्यक्ति किसी फल या पुरस्कार की इच्छा से सेवा करता है और दिन-रात केवल अपने लाभ की गणना करता रहता है, वह वास्तव में सेवक नहीं है। सच्चा समर्पण वह है जहाँ कोई शर्त न हो; यदि कोई लाभ की उम्मीद करता है, तो वह भक्ति नहीं बल्कि एक व्यापारिक सौदा है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that one who serves with the expectation of a reward, constantly calculating their gains day and night, is not a true devotee. Genuine service is unconditional; if there is a desire for profit or a specific return, it is not spiritual devotion but a mere commercial transaction.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि जब कोई शिष्य गुरु के निस्वार्थ प्रेम के वश में हो जाता है, तो भौतिक दूरी का कोई अर्थ नहीं रह जाता। यदि किसी का मन और चेतना अपने गुरु के साथ एकाकार हो जाए, तो गुरु सदैव उसके हृदय में उपस्थित रहते हैं, चाहे वे शारीरिक रूप से कहीं भी हों।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that when a seeker is immersed in the selfless love of the Guru, physical distance becomes irrelevant. If the mind and consciousness are anchored in the Guru, the Guru remains eternally present within the seeker's heart, regardless of their physical location in the material world.

अर्थ: जो व्यक्ति अपने गुरु की सच्ची शिक्षाओं और मार्गदर्शन का पालन नहीं करता और अपने अहंकारवश विचित्र या टेढ़े रास्तों पर चलता है, वह सांसारिक लोक-मर्यादा और आध्यात्मिक वेदों के ज्ञान, दोनों को खो देता है। अंततः, वह केवल विनाश और आध्यात्मिक मृत्यु की ओर अग्रसर होता है।

Meaning: One who disregards the authentic instructions of the Guru and wanders on erratic, ego-driven paths loses both the wisdom of the scriptures and the harmony of social existence. By rejecting true guidance, such a person invites spiritual ruin and the inevitable shadow of death upon their soul.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि जो साधक गुरु की आज्ञा को अपने जीवन का आधार बनाता है, चाहे वह आने की बात हो या जाने की, वही वास्तव में गुरु का प्रिय संत बनता है। ऐसा समर्पित शिष्य जीवन के विभिन्न रूपों में आध्यात्मिक अमृत और परम आनंद की प्राप्ति करता है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that the seeker who anchors their existence in the Guru's command—whether in arrival or departure—becomes the beloved saint. Such a surrendered disciple attains the nectar of immortality and spiritual bliss through manifold ways, transcending the limitations of the ego.

अर्थ: कबीर दास जी कहते हैं कि सच्चा सेवक वही है जो वास्तव में सेवा भाव में लीन रहे। केवल स्वयं को सेवक कहना पर्याप्त नहीं है; जब तक व्यक्ति निस्वार्थ सेवा के कर्म में नहीं उतरता, तब तक वह वास्तव में सेवक नहीं कहला सकता। सेवा ही वह एकमात्र मार्ग है जिससे सेवक की पहचान सिद्ध होती है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that a true servant is one who remains immersed in the actual act of service. Merely claiming the title of a servant is meaningless; unless an individual actively engages in selfless service, they cannot truly be called a servant. Service is the only authentic validation of one's identity as a devotee.
