अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि जब तक अहंकार की जड़ को पूरी तरह से नहीं काट दिया जाता, तब तक जीवन रूपी जहाज को सुरक्षित नहीं किया जा सकता। केवल बाहरी दिखावे या दूसरों के सहारे से मुक्ति नहीं मिलती; वास्तविक उद्धार तब होता है जब व्यक्ति स्वयं अपनी आंतरिक अज्ञानता को समाप्त कर परमात्मा की शरण में जाता है और उस अटूट बंधन को महसूस करता है जहाँ कोई दिखावा नहीं रहता।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that unless the root of the ego is completely severed, the ship of life cannot be steered to safety. Mere reliance on external rituals or the superficial guidance of others does not grant liberation; true salvation occurs only when one eradicates internal ignorance and surrenders to the Divine, embracing a bond of truth where vanity and pretense cease to exist.

अर्थ: कबीर दास जी चेतावनी देते हैं कि यदि हम विवेकपूर्ण तरीके से विचार करें, तो हम पाएंगे कि गलत और निम्न मानसिकता वाले लोगों की संगति हमारे हृदय को कठोर बना देती है। जैसे लकड़ी सूखकर सख्त हो जाती है, वैसे ही ओछी संगत मनुष्य की चेतना को जड़ और संवेदनहीन कर देती है, जिससे आध्यात्मिक मार्ग कठिन हो जाता है।

Meaning: Kabir warns that if we reflect with true awareness, we realize that the company of those with narrow, petty, or malicious mindsets hardens the human heart. Just as wood becomes rigid and unyielding when dried, the influence of low-minded associations renders the consciousness inert and insensitive, making the path to spiritual liberation arduous and obstructed.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि जिस प्रकार जल स्वयं जल में कभी नहीं डूबता, उसी प्रकार जो व्यक्ति अपने अहंकार को मिटाकर स्वयं को परमात्मा के समान शुद्ध और व्यापक मान लेता है, वह संसार के मोह-माया के बंधनों से मुक्त हो जाता है। यह अहंकार का त्याग ही वास्तव में आध्यात्मिक उन्नति का मार्ग है।

Meaning: Kabir observes that just as water cannot be drowned by water, a soul that has realized its own essential nature as pure consciousness cannot be overwhelmed by the illusions of the world. True spiritual growth lies in the realization that the individual self and the universal divine are one and the same, rendering the ego obsolete.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि मनुष्य को अपने जीवन और संगति को इस प्रकार रसपूर्ण और प्रेममयी बनाना चाहिए कि वह पूर्णतः ईश्वर के रंग में रंग जाए। जिस प्रकार एक बुनकर कपड़े को रंगने के लिए बार-बार उसे उबलते पानी और रंगों (लोई) में डालता है, जिससे उसे कष्ट होता है, फिर भी वह अंतिम सुंदर रंग प्राप्त करने के लिए उस प्रक्रिया को नहीं छोड़ता, वैसे ही साधक को आध्यात्मिक पूर्णता के लिए कष्टों को सहकर भी सत्य के मार्ग पर अडिग रहना चाहिए।

Meaning: Kabir urges the seeker to cultivate a companionship with the Divine that is so saturated with spiritual essence that it transforms their entire being. He uses the metaphor of a dyer: just as a cloth must be repeatedly dipped into boiling dyes and endure the harshness of the process to achieve a permanent, vibrant hue, a seeker must endure the trials of spiritual discipline and the shedding of the ego to be permanently colored by the Truth, never abandoning the path despite the inherent struggle.

अर्थ: जिस प्रकार तिल के विभिन्न प्रकारों से निकलने वाला तेल अंततः एक ही गुण का होता है, उसी प्रकार सत्य एक ही है। जब साधक सही संगति और सत्संग का साथ पाता है, तब उसके भीतर ईश्वरीय नाम और आध्यात्मिक चेतना का पूर्ण विकास होता है।

Meaning: Just as oil extracted from various types of sesame seeds remains essentially the same oil, the ultimate Truth is one. When a seeker aligns themselves with the right spiritual company and divine association, the seed of the Holy Name blossoms into full spiritual awakening.

अर्थ: सच्चे गुरु और भक्ति के सान्निध्य में मनुष्य की आध्यात्मिक चेतना और प्रेम निरंतर बढ़ता जाता है। इसके विपरीत, निम्न स्तर के लोगों की संगति और व्यर्थ के शब्दों के प्रभाव से व्यक्ति का आत्म-सम्मान, विवेक और आध्यात्मिक स्तर धीरे-धीरे गिरता चला जाता है।

Meaning: In the company of a true spiritual master and the practice of devotion, one's spiritual consciousness and love expand continuously. Conversely, associating with those of low spiritual intent and engaging in meaningless, harsh words leads to a gradual decline in one's wisdom, self-worth, and spiritual elevation.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि संतों और सज्जनों के साथ प्रेम और सेवा का संबंध बनाना चाहिए, क्योंकि यह प्रेम समय के साथ गहरा होता जाता है। वे एक उदाहरण देते हैं कि यदि कोई कंबल काला है, तो उसे चाहे कितनी भी बार धोया जाए, वह सफेद नहीं हो सकता; वैसे ही स्वभाव की जड़ता को केवल बाहरी प्रयासों से नहीं, बल्कि सत्संग के आंतरिक प्रभाव से बदला जा सकता है।

Meaning: Kabir advises cultivating a bond of love and service toward the enlightened souls (Sadhus), as such a relationship deepens daily. He illustrates this with a metaphor: a black blanket, no matter how many times it is washed, will never turn white. Similarly, the deep-seated stains of the ego and ignorance cannot be removed by superficial rituals, but only through the transformative grace of spiritual companionship.

अर्थ: यह दोहा ईश्वर की सर्वव्यापकता और समर्पण की शक्ति को दर्शाता है। कबीर कहते हैं कि यदि मैं ईश्वर को अपने भीतर खोजूँ तो वे अत्यंत निकट हैं, लेकिन यदि मैं उन्हें बाहरी कर्मकांडों या दूरस्थ स्थानों में खोजूँ, तो वे और दूर हो जाते हैं। अंततः, साधक की स्थिति गुरु की कृपा और संतोष पर निर्भर करती है; जो गुरु द्वारा दिया गया है, उसी में संतुष्ट रहना ही वास्तविक आध्यात्मिक मार्ग है।

Meaning: This couplet illuminates the omnipresence of the Divine and the transformative power of surrender. Kabir asserts that when one seeks the Divine within, the Truth is intimately close; however, when one searches for it through external rituals or distant pilgrimages, it seems to recede. Ultimately, the seeker's state depends on the grace of the Guru and the practice of contentment, accepting whatever the Master provides as the ultimate sustenance for the soul.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि जब मनुष्य सांसारिक सुखों की नींद में सोया रहता है, तब उसे वास्तविक आध्यात्मिक जागृति की नींद नहीं आती। यह स्थिति उस मछली के समान है जो जल से अलग हो गई है और पूरी रात तड़पती रहती है, क्योंकि जल ही उसका एकमात्र जीवन आधार था।

Meaning: Kabir explains that while one is slumbering in the illusion of worldly pleasures, the true sleep of spiritual peace remains elusive. He compares this state to a fish cast out of water, spending the entire night in agony, for water was its only source of existence and survival.

अर्थ: कबीर दास जी कहते हैं कि मूर्ख व्यक्ति यह भ्रम पाले रहता है कि वह केवल बाहरी कर्मकांडों और दिखावे से बैकुंठ (मोक्ष) प्राप्त कर लेगा। वह जीवन भर इसी गलत धारणा में जीता है, लेकिन अंततः वह आत्म-ज्ञान और सच्ची श्रद्धा के अभाव में आध्यात्मिक पतन का सामना करता है, क्योंकि उसने वास्तव में अपने अहंकार की बलि नहीं दी।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that the foolish mind spends its entire existence clinging to the delusion that external rituals and superficial piety can secure a place in Baikunth (heaven). By ignoring the internal sacrifice of the ego and failing to recognize the divine within, such a person remains trapped in ignorance, ultimately descending into spiritual darkness rather than ascending to liberation.
