कबीर के दोहे (Kabir's Couplets)

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि प्रेम का अपना घर (परमात्मा का निवास) अत्यंत दुर्गम और अगाध है। इस मार्ग पर चलने के लिए अहंकार का पूर्ण त्याग आवश्यक है। जब साधक अपने अहंकार रूपी सिर को काटकर चरणों में रख देता है, तभी उसे वास्तविक ईश्वरीय प्रेम का स्वाद प्राप्त होता है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that the abode of Divine Love is an unfathomable and inaccessible path. To traverse this journey, the total surrender of the ego is mandatory. Only when the seeker symbolically severs the head of their pride and places it at the feet of the Truth can they finally taste the essence of transcendental love.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि उन्होंने अपना अहंकार (सिर) काटकर अलग कर दिया है और अपनी पूरी आत्मा और जीवन को परमात्मा के प्रति समर्पित कर दिया है। उन्होंने प्रेम का एक ऐसा बाज़ार लगाया है जहाँ कोई भी वह व्यक्ति जो सच्चे प्रेम का इच्छुक है, आकर इस आत्म-समर्पण के फल को प्राप्त कर सकता है।

Meaning: Kabir declares that he has severed the head of his ego and offered it as a sacrifice, fully immersing his soul in the Divine. He has established a marketplace of love, inviting anyone who possesses a genuine longing for spiritual union to come and claim the fruits of this absolute surrender.

अर्थ: इस दोहे में कबीर एक ऐसे पूर्ण समर्पण की बात कर रहे हैं जहाँ साधक अपने अहंकार और शारीरिक अस्तित्व की सारी आसक्ति को त्याग देता है। जब व्यक्ति अपने 'मैं' (अहंकार) का विसर्जन कर देता है, तभी वह उस परम तत्व या हरि के वास्तविक स्वरूप का साक्षात्कार कर पाता है।

Meaning: In this couplet, Kabir speaks of a total surrender where the seeker relinquishes all attachment to the ego and the physical existence. Only when an individual discards the 'I' (the ego) can they truly encounter and recognize the divine presence of Hari.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि जिस प्रकार एक सती स्त्री अग्नि की लपटों में कूदकर भी विचलित नहीं होती क्योंकि उसका मन केवल अपने प्रियतम पर केंद्रित है, उसी प्रकार जब साधक अपने तन और मन को पूर्णतः ईश्वर (पीव) को समर्पित कर देता है, तब उसके और परमात्मा के बीच कोई भेद या रेखा शेष नहीं रह जाती।

Meaning: Kabir explains that just as a devoted wife (Sati) passes through fire without wavering because her mind is fixed solely on her beloved, similarly, when a seeker surrenders their entire physical and mental existence to the Divine Beloved, the boundary or separation between the individual soul and the Supreme Truth vanishes completely.

अर्थ: कबीर अपनी सखी (साधक) से पूछते हैं कि मनुष्य जीवित रहते हुए अपने अहंकार और वासनाओं का अंत क्यों नहीं करता? लोग मृत्यु के पश्चात मृत शरीर के लिए सत्य और धार्मिक कर्मकांड करते हैं, जबकि उन्हीं कर्मों और सत्य की खोज को जीवित रहते हुए अपने भीतर उतारना चाहिए।

Meaning: Kabir asks his spiritual companion why a person does not seek the 'death' of the ego while still alive. He critiques the irony where people perform rituals of truth and piety for the deceased, yet neglect to cultivate that same truth and spiritual liberation within themselves during their living years.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि जब राम (परमात्मा) स्वयं प्रकट हो चुके हैं, तो अब उन्हें छिपकर या पर्दे के पीछे नहीं गाना चाहिए। जिस प्रकार सूखे घास के ढेर को आग से दूर कर दिया जाता है ताकि वह दोबारा कभी आग न पकड़े, वैसे ही अज्ञानता और पाखंड को पूरी तरह हटा देना चाहिए ताकि वह पुनः जीवन में प्रवेश न कर सके।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that once the Divine (Ram) has manifested within, there is no need to sing of Him in secrecy or through hidden veils. Just as a pile of dry straw is cast far away from the fire to ensure it never ignites again, one must completely eradicate the remnants of ignorance and hypocrisy so they may never return to haunt the soul.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि हर व्यक्ति ईश्वर की प्रार्थना करता है, लेकिन वास्तव में ईश्वर की सच्ची भक्ति कोई नहीं करता। जब तक मनुष्य के मन में अपने भौतिक शरीर और सांसारिक सुखों के प्रति आसक्ति और मोह बना रहता है, तब तक वह वास्तव में ईश्वर का सच्चा सेवक या समर्पित भक्त नहीं बन सकता।

Meaning: Kabir observes that while everyone claims to worship God, very few actually do so with true sincerity. As long as an individual remains attached to the physical body and clings to worldly desires and bodily existence, they cannot become a true servant or a genuine devotee of the Divine.

अर्थ: इस संसार में हर व्यक्ति केवल अपने स्वार्थ और व्यक्तिगत लाभ की खोज में लगा हुआ है। यहाँ तक कि जो स्वयं को भक्त या दास कहते हैं, वे भी अंततः अपनी इच्छाओं की पूर्ति चाहते हैं। लेकिन कबीर कहते हैं कि वास्तविक राम-भक्ति वही है जहाँ मनुष्य ने अपने शरीर और भौतिक अस्तित्व के प्रति सारी आसक्ति और मोह पूरी तरह त्याग दिया हो।

Meaning: In this worldly existence, every individual is driven by self-interest and the pursuit of personal gain. Even those who claim to be devotees or servants of the Divine often harbor hidden desires for reward. Kabir asserts that true communion with the Divine (Ram) occurs only when one completely relinquishes all attachment and hope for the physical body and material existence.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि कस्तूरी मृग की अपनी नाभि में ही होती है, परंतु वह उसकी सुगंध से मोहित होकर उसे पूरे जंगल में खोजता फिरता है। ठीक उसी प्रकार, परमात्मा हर मनुष्य के हृदय के भीतर वास करते हैं, लेकिन दुनिया उन्हें बाहर मंदिरों, मस्जिदों और तीर्थों में खोजती रहती है।

Meaning: Kabir explains that the musk resides within the navel of the musk deer, yet the deer wanders the entire forest in a frantic search for the source of the scent. Similarly, the Divine resides within every single human heart, yet the world remains blind to this internal presence, searching for God in external rituals and distant pilgrimages.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि वह सच्चा संत या ज्ञानी है जिसने अपनी पाँचों इंद्रियों पर पूर्ण नियंत्रण पा लिया है। जिस व्यक्ति की पाँचों इंद्रियाँ उसके वश में नहीं हैं, वह कभी भी परमात्मा (हरि) के साथ वास्तविक मिलन या आध्यात्मिक सिद्धि प्राप्त नहीं कर सकता।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that a true saint or realized soul is one who has attained absolute mastery over the five senses. A person who remains a slave to their sensory impulses cannot achieve a genuine union or spiritual alignment with the Divine (Hari).
