कबीर के दोहे (Kabir's Couplets)

अर्थ: यदि गुरु पूर्ण और आत्म-साक्षात्कारी हो, तो शिष्य को अपना सर्वस्व, यहाँ तक कि अपना अहंकार और मस्तक भी समर्पित कर देना चाहिए। गुरु के प्रति यह समर्पण वैसा ही होना चाहिए जैसा एक पिता का पुत्र के प्रति होता है, परंतु वास्तव में एक योग्य शिष्य पुत्र से भी अधिक श्रेष्ठ होता है क्योंकि वह आध्यात्मिक उत्तराधिकार को प्राप्त करता है।

Meaning: If a teacher is truly enlightened and complete, the disciple should be prepared to surrender everything, including their ego and very identity. This bond of devotion should be viewed with the tenderness of a father for a son, yet the disciple is considered superior to a biological son because the disciple carries forward the eternal light of truth rather than mere worldly lineage.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि अपने गुरु को सदैव अपने मस्तक पर स्थान दें, अर्थात उनके प्रति पूर्ण श्रद्धा रखें और उनके निर्देशों का पालन करें। जो शिष्य इस समर्पण भाव से गुरु की आज्ञा में चलता है, उसके लिए तीनों लोकों का भय समाप्त हो जाता है और वह परम शांति प्राप्त करता है।

Meaning: Kabir teaches that one should keep the Guru upon their head, symbolizing absolute reverence and unwavering adherence to their guidance. He asserts that the disciple who walks in the light of the Guru's command transcends all fear across the three realms of existence, attaining ultimate liberation.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि गुरु की सेवा, मानवता की निस्वार्थ सेवा, ईश्वर का निरंतर स्मरण और सांसारिक मोह का त्याग—ये चार आध्यात्मिक स्तंभ एक साथ केवल तभी प्राप्त होते हैं जब व्यक्ति का भाग्य पूर्ण होता है या जब वह वास्तव में आध्यात्मिक रूप से परिपक्व हो जाता है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that the service of the Guru, the selfless service of humanity, the constant remembrance of the Divine, and the detachment from worldly illusions are four spiritual pillars that converge only when one's destiny is fulfilled or when a soul reaches a state of true spiritual maturity.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि गुरु एक कुम्हार की तरह है और शिष्य मिट्टी के कच्चे घड़े के समान। जिस प्रकार कुम्हार घड़े के आकार को सही करने के लिए बाहर से चोट करता है लेकिन अंदर से हाथ का सहारा देता है ताकि घड़ा टूटे नहीं, उसी प्रकार गुरु शिष्य की बुराइयों को दूर करने के लिए कठोर अनुशासन का प्रयोग करता है, परंतु उसके हृदय में शिष्य के लिए अगाध प्रेम और समर्थन होता है।

Meaning: Kabir explains that the Guru is like a potter and the disciple is like a clay pot. Just as a potter strikes the pot from the outside to shape it and remove imperfections, while simultaneously supporting it from within with his hand to prevent it from collapsing, the Guru employs strict discipline to remove the disciple's flaws while providing unwavering internal support and love.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि यदि ईश्वर (हरि) आपसे अप्रसन्न हैं, तो आप गुरु की शरण में जाकर क्षमा और मार्गदर्शन पा सकते हैं। लेकिन यदि गुरु आपसे रुष्ट हैं या आपने गुरु के मार्गदर्शन को त्याग दिया है, तो स्वयं ईश्वर भी आपकी सहायता नहीं कर सकते क्योंकि गुरु ही वह द्वार है जो ईश्वर तक पहुँचाता है।

Meaning: Kabir suggests that if the Divine (Hari) is displeased with you, seeking refuge in the Guru can lead to forgiveness and restoration. However, if the Guru is displeased or if the bond with the Guru is severed, even the Divine will not provide aid, for the Guru is the essential gateway and catalyst for spiritual realization.

अर्थ: मनुष्य जन्म-मरण के चारो चक्रों (पृथ्वी, जल, अग्नि, वायु) में भटकता रहता है और कभी इस संसार रूपी सागर से पार नहीं पा पाता। यह अंतहीन चक्र केवल एक सच्चे गुरु की कृपा और ज्ञान से ही समाप्त होता है, जो आत्मा को उसके वास्तविक स्वरूप से मिलाता है।

Meaning: The human soul wanders aimlessly through the four elemental realms of existence, trapped in a cycle of birth and rebirth without ever reaching the shore of liberation. This perpetual wandering and the agony of cyclic existence are completely erased only through the grace and transformative wisdom of a True Guru.

अर्थ: बिना एक सच्चे आध्यात्मिक गुरु के मार्गदर्शन के, मनुष्य इस संसार के मोह-माया और जन्म-मृत्यु के चक्र में फंसा रहता है। वह इस संसार रूपी भयानक सागर की लहरों में डूबने के लिए अभिशप्त है, लेकिन एक सद्गुरु ही वह सहारा हैं जो अपना हाथ बढ़ाकर उसे इस कष्टदायक अस्तित्व से बाहर निकालते हैं।

Meaning: Without the guidance of a true spiritual master, a human remains trapped in the cycle of worldly attachments and the endless loop of birth and death. One is destined to drown in the terrifying ocean of existence, but the Satguru is the only savior who extends a hand to rescue the soul from this agonizing struggle.

अर्थ: जब हृदय शुद्ध हो जाता है, मन निर्मल होता है और बुद्धि स्थिर एवं उत्तम हो जाती है, तब साधक भ्रम और विरह के दुखों से मुक्त हो जाता है। ऐसी अवस्था में उसे उस सच्चे गुरु का साक्षात्कार होता है जो वास्तव में कबीर (परमात्मा का स्वरूप) हैं।

Meaning: When the consciousness becomes pure, the mind becomes stainless, and the intellect attains a state of steady, superior wisdom, the seeker is liberated from all delusions and the agony of separation. In this state of absolute clarity, one encounters the True Guru, the eternal essence represented by Kabir.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि उनके सद्गुरु एक महान योद्धा की तरह हैं, जो ज्ञान के तीरों से अज्ञानता और अहंकार के भ्रमों को नष्ट करते हैं। कबीर स्वयं को उस गुरु का ऐसा समर्पित शिष्य मानते हैं जिसने सत्य को पाने की प्रतिज्ञा ली है और अब वह किसी भी परिस्थिति में पीछे नहीं हटेंगे।

Meaning: Kabir describes his True Guru as a valiant warrior who relentlessly strikes the illusions of ignorance and ego with the arrows of divine knowledge. Kabir identifies himself as a devoted disciple who has taken a solemn vow of spiritual realization and refuses to retreat regardless of the intensity of the struggle.

अर्थ: सच्चे गुरु की महिमा अपार है और उनका उपकार भी अनंत है। उन्होंने शिष्य की आध्यात्मिक आँखों को खोल दिया है, जिससे वह उस अनंत परमात्मा या परम सत्य का साक्षात्कार करने में सक्षम हो गया है जो समय और स्थान से परे है।

Meaning: The glory of the True Guru is infinite, and the favor they bestow is boundless. By opening the 'infinite eyes' of the disciple—the eyes of spiritual intuition—the Guru enables the seeker to perceive the Eternal Truth that transcends all physical boundaries.
