जीवन का अर्थ (Meaning of Life) — Kabir Dohas

अर्थ: यह दोहा आत्मा की उस विस्मृति अवस्था का वर्णन करता है जहाँ जीव अपनी मूल पहचान को भूलकर सांसारिक माया के जाल में फंस गया है। जैसे एक पक्षी आकाश की ऊंचाइयों में उड़कर अपने मूल स्थान को भूल जाता है और परदेस में भटकता है, वैसे ही मनुष्य अपनी दिव्य प्रकृति को भूलकर भौतिक जगत को ही सत्य मान बैठा है, जबकि वह बिना किसी भौतिक साधन के भी उस परम तत्व से जुड़ा था।

Meaning: This couplet describes the state of forgetfulness of the soul, where the living entity, trapped in the web of worldly illusion, has forgotten its original identity. Just as a bird flies high into the sky and wanders into a foreign land, forgetting its home, humans have mistaken the material world for the ultimate truth, forgetting that they were once connected to the Divine Essence without the need for any physical medium.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि कामुकता और इंद्रियों के क्षणिक सुखों की लालसा ने मनुष्य की सच्ची भक्ति को नष्ट कर दिया है। जिस प्रकार कोई व्यक्ति लापरवाही में अपने हाथ से एक बहुमूल्य हीरा खो देता है, ठीक उसी प्रकार मनुष्य इंद्रिय-सुख के पीछे भागकर अपने इस अनमोल मानव जीवन के आध्यात्मिक उद्देश्य को व्यर्थ गंवा देता है।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that the pursuit of sensual pleasures and the cravings of the senses have corrupted the essence of true devotion. Just as one might carelessly lose a priceless diamond from their grasp, a human being squanders the rare opportunity of a spiritual birth by chasing fleeting sensory gratifications, thereby losing the ultimate goal of liberation.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि यदि आप परमात्मा से दूर हैं तो इसमें कोई बड़ी बात नहीं है, क्योंकि वास्तविक निकटता केवल अहंकार के विसर्जन से ही संभव है। जब तक मनुष्य अपने 'शिर' यानी अपने अहंकार और झूठी पहचान को समर्पित नहीं करता, तब तक उसके जीवन का कोई भी आध्यात्मिक कार्य सिद्ध नहीं हो सकता।

Meaning: Kabir asserts that being distant from the Divine is a common state, but true proximity is only achieved through the surrender of the ego. Until a person is willing to offer their 'head'—symbolizing the prideful intellect and the false sense of self—no spiritual endeavor or life's purpose can reach its ultimate fruition.
