दुख निवारण (Healing Sorrow) — Kabir Dohas

अर्थ: यह दोहा विरह की अग्नि और आध्यात्मिक रूपांतरण की बात करता है। कबीर कहते हैं कि विरह की लकड़ी गीली है, जो जलते समय धुआं करती है और बहुत कष्ट देती है। इस मानसिक और आध्यात्मिक पीड़ा से मुक्ति तभी संभव है जब यह पूरी तरह जलकर राख हो जाए, अर्थात जब अहंकार पूरी तरह नष्ट हो जाए।

Meaning: This couplet speaks of the fire of separation and spiritual transmutation. Kabir suggests that the wood of longing is damp, causing it to sputter and smoke, creating immense distress. Liberation from this suffering is achieved only when the wood is completely consumed by fire, symbolizing the total annihilation of the ego.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि मेरी आँखें विरह की अग्नि में जल गई हैं और हर क्षण केवल तुम्हारी ही खोज में अश्रु बहा रही हैं। इस विरह की सबसे बड़ी पीड़ा यह है कि न तो मुझे तुम (परमात्मा) मिल पा रहे हो और न ही मैं स्वयं में शांति या सुख पा रहा हूँ; मैं एक अंतहीन तड़प और बेचैनी के बीच फँसा हुआ हूँ।

Meaning: Kabir laments that his eyes have been scorched by the fire of separation, shedding tears every fleeting moment in longing for the Divine. The core of his agony lies in a spiritual stalemate: he has not yet attained union with the Beloved, nor can he find solace or contentment within his own existence, leaving him in a state of profound, restless yearning.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि जब वे सुख की खोज में बाहर की दुनिया की ओर जा रहे थे, तब उन्हें दुख की अग्नि का अनुभव हुआ। अब वे उस क्षणिक और भ्रमपूर्ण सुख को उसके अपने घर वापस भेज देते हैं, क्योंकि उन्होंने अब दुख के वास्तविक स्वरूप और उसके साथ छिपे आध्यात्मिक सत्य को पहचान लिया है।

Meaning: Kabir explains that while he was venturing outward in pursuit of worldly pleasure, he was instead met by the fire of suffering. He now dismisses that illusory happiness to its own abode, for he has come to deeply understand the nature of pain and the profound spiritual truth that resides within it.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि जो व्यक्ति केवल दुखों में डूबा रहता है वह दुख के कारण नष्ट हो जाता है, और जो केवल सांसारिक सुखों के पीछे भागता है वह उनके मोह में झूमता रहता है। लेकिन वह साधक वास्तव में आनंदित है जिसने राम (परमात्मा) के साथ एकाकार होकर सुख और दुख दोनों के द्वंद्व को अपने जीवन से पूरी तरह मिटा दिया है।

Meaning: Kabir observes that the miserable person is consumed by their grief, while the one chasing worldly pleasures remains intoxicated by fleeting joys. However, the truly blessed soul is the one who, through union with the Eternal (Ram), has transcended the duality of pleasure and pain, rendering both irrelevant to their inner peace.

अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि उस व्यक्ति से पूछो जो आध्यात्मिक चोट या विरह की अग्नि में घायल है। वह दिन भर दर्द सहता है और रात भर जागता रहता है। जो व्यक्ति इस विरह की पीड़ा से नहीं गुजरा है, वह कभी नहीं समझ पाएगा कि उस प्रेम की तड़प क्या होती है जिसने आत्मा को पूरी तरह से घेर लिया है।

Meaning: Kabir suggests that one must ask the one who is wounded by spiritual longing. Such a soul suffers throughout the day and remains sleepless through the night. He asserts that those who have not experienced this profound ache of separation cannot possibly comprehend the intensity of the love that has completely consumed the seeker.
