अर्थ: कबीर कहते हैं कि यदि जीवन में सही सत्संग और आध्यात्मिक जागृति नहीं मिली, तो बीते हुए दिन व्यर्थ चले गए। बिना प्रेम के मनुष्य का जीवन पशु के समान है, और बिना सच्ची भक्ति के ईश्वर की प्राप्ति असंभव है।

Meaning: Kabir laments that days spent without the company of the enlightened are wasted. He asserts that a life devoid of divine love is no different from the existence of an animal, and without heartfelt devotion, the realization of the Divine remains an unreachable dream.

अर्थ: मनुष्य का मन एक चंचल पक्षी की भाँति है जो आध्यात्मिक ऊँचाइयों को छूने की इच्छा में आकाश की ओर उड़ता है, परंतु जैसे ही वह अहंकार या सांसारिक मोह के संपर्क में आता है, वह पुनः माया के जाल में गिर जाता है। यह दोहा मन की अस्थिरता और माया के शक्तिशाली आकर्षण को दर्शाता है।

Meaning: The human mind is like a restless bird that attempts to fly toward the celestial heights of spiritual liberation. However, in its ascent, it is struck down by the gravity of worldly attachment, falling back into the clutches of Maya. अर्थ: यह शरीर वासनाओं और अज्ञानता के विष से भरी एक बेल की तरह है, जबकि गुरु ज्ञान और मोक्ष के अमृत का अक्षय स्रोत हैं। यदि इस शरीर रूपी विषैली बेल से मुक्ति पाने के लिए या वास्तविक गुरु की प्राप्ति के लिए अपना शीश (अहंकार) भी त्यागना पड़े, तो भी यह सौदा बहुत सस्ता है क्योंकि इसके बदले में अनंत आध्यात्मिक स्वतंत्रता प्राप्त होती है।

Meaning: This physical body is like a vine laden with the poison of worldly desires and ignorance, whereas the Guru is an inexhaustible mine of the nectar of immortality. If one must sacrifice their head—symbolizing the ego—to find a true spiritual guide, it should be considered a bargain, for the reward is the eternal liberation of the soul from the cycle of suffering.
